Forensic ballistics and firearm investigation begin when the bullets, cartridges, a weapon, or any combination of the above found at a crime scene. With the evidence, a crime laboratory will explore for clues on some things that might cause a suspect or possible to prove that the things were used in the crime. By contrast, the markings on the bullets or cartridges found at the scene with those discharged from the suspect’s weapon, a ballistics expert will typically confirm if the rounds came from a similar weapon. Just the act of cycling a cartridge through the weapon without firing it will leave permanent scratches on the case that is distinctive to the weapon.

When looking at all of the important issues of today’s society, one of the most neglected issues revolves around guns. Guns serve two different purposes: to defend and to kill. Even though I’ve been on this Earth for only 21 years, I’ve become keen and have taken an interest in the study of guns and how they pose more problems in society than any other issue. The Kent State shooting has sadly been one of the many fatal shootings throughout history in America. There are growing rates in mass shootings in America today as we know. They are becoming more common in our daily news sadly. We have many Anti-shooting, and many rallies to end war on certain topics. This just happened to be one for the Vietnam war. .

The Kent State shooting played a major role in Nixon’s resignation from presidency and the public’s opinion of the Vietnam War. The students that were protesting started when Nixon announced intervention into Cambodia. Outraged students met on campus the very next day to show that they didn’t agree with the presidents decision. During the shooting students threw containers of tear gas back at the guardsmen. Some students threw rocks as the soldiers left. Protestors would shout “Pigs Off Campus!” (Axelrod et al. 256) Many of the soldiers sent to settle the frustrated protestors were weekend warriors who chose the guard to avoid ending up in Vietnam. Mandy soldiers lacked training for combat and crowds. Most soldiers were confused by the actions of the students and weren’t sure how to react. The student protestors refused the guards orders to disperse which resulted in the guardsmen throwing tear gas toward the rioting protestors. The protestors consisted of upper class and middle class residents.

The Virginia Tech shooting was one of the biggest shooting. Seung-Hui Cho was the mass murderer of the Virginia Tech shooting. Cho killed 33 people and injured 18 more. I am going to explain a little of who Cho is and some information about the Virginia Tech shooting. I will also explain the motives behind the why he did the shooting and how officers responded to the crime. Finally, I will explain how Virginia Tech and campuses across the nations have changed there active shooter situations.

Another significant reason why the guard is to blame is because of the guard’s actions at Kent State during that dramatic weekend. The guard handled the situation very unprofessionally and unfairly at Kent State. For starters, the guard should have never been so forceful with students over a peaceful assembly. The guard used tear gas and force to disperse a crowd of young college students (“The Kent State Shootings: May 4, 1970”). Despite all of the accusations made by the officers, there are still not any justified reasons for the shootings: All of the officers claims have been disproved. For example, the guards thought the protests were illegal, but the ban on assemblies was signed into effect until May 5, making the assembly, in the students’ eyes, legal (“Four Students Killed”).

A Man in his mid-30s was found dead at the bottom of a mineshaft with a gunshot wound. The man was found at 2:45 pm on October 20th 1990 after a women reported about witnessing the murder. The mine shack was located near Parry Sound Street. The man was depicted as blue eyes, blonde hair and a birth mark near his right ear. He wore a white t-shirt and black jeans with branded running shoes. He was found dead on his stomach with a small gun wound on his back chest.

When asked what the reaction was in the immediate aftermath of the shooting, David said, “Well, I mean, it’s not like it is today because we didn’t have all the social media outlets. We didn’t have Facebook where people could get on and argue their issues or their opinions. Obviously, people were upset by it. I think there was more shock and awe than anything because we had never really even seen anything like this before… I think it’s set the tone for current events of mass shootings and school shootings.” He then goes on to say that he believes if Facebook or other social media outlets had been relevant there would have been a greater spreading of outrage. The US government must introduce stronger gun laws in order to make American society safer, there are over 15 000 people killed annually by firearms in the states which is unacceptable.There is a direct link between the number of incidents related to guns and the restrictions imposed on them. For this reason, it is necessary to introduce further regulations and laws.

In order to solve problem of the gun violence, lately the government announced new executive actions. Among the actions was the suggestion for reducing gun violence, shaping gun safety technology emerged as a major breakthrough in the fight against gun violence in America. This solution showed the idea that all the guns should be equipped with a reader on the gun or the trigger, so that the technology allows only authorized people to unlock and shoot their guns just like fingerprint scanners of the smart phone (“Fact Sheet”). This special feature of smart gun safety shows that this technology is able to prevent gun accidents and unauthorized use of guns. Therefore, in order to curb the gun violence in the United States, the smart gun safety technology is the most effective way in three situations: gun crime, unintentional shooting, and misuse of guns.

The career I decided to research was that of a Ballistic Analyst. The job of a ballistic analyst includes examining bullet casings, firearms, ammunition, and clothing. The senior analyst would typically work in the field at the crime scene, while most of the analysts spend their day in a lab. The majority of the day is spent looking at something called a ballistic fingerprint. From any of the ballistics used or found at a crime scene, fingerprints may be found which is what the lab analyst will typically look for on any given day.
