It is 2011, bottom of the 9th inning with 1 ball and 2 strikes, 2 outs and the Rangers are 1 strike, 1 out, and just 1 win from a World Series Championship, but then out of nowhere, “TRIPLE, TRIPLE.” David Freese had that triple and it scored 2 runs and then he actually 2 innings later won the game with a walk off home run. That is just one thing that just makes baseball noticed and so popular. It just shows anything can happen at any time. Everyone deserves to know how popular the sport of baseball is and that if they ever need to do or watch something, baseball is always right there and the way to go since it’s season is almost year round. If you think about the families in all of those households there was tons and tons of people watching just because baseball is that popular and people love to watch it so much. Baseball became a famous game in the late 1800’s, and continued to grow. The first World Series was played in 1903, and the annual contest between the two top teams quickly became one of the most anticipated events in America. More and more people kept attending each year. In 1919 the World Series was expected to be profitable, and it did reach a large attendance. Not only did that throw end one of the greatest baseball games of all time, but it also ended a historic 108-year World Series drought for the Chicago Cubs. Packed with intrigue and more drama than a Shakespearean play, this memorable contest had me on the edge of my seat for over five and a half hours, one of the longest games ever played in the postseason. By the end, I was exhausted but rejuvenated, feeling the joy alongside the Cubbies.
