The Greatest Game A ball, a bat and a glove; that is what baseball is designed around. The objective is simple, when you are on defense catch the ball and throw it to the right area and when you are on offense hit the ball. How could such a simple and relaxing game possibly be the best though? The game of baseball is not very intense like football, rugby, or in some cases basketball and it does not take as much stamina as soccer or tennis, so how could it possibly be the best game to ever be created? First, it is because of the moderation of the game (Huffington). In baseball you do not have to be the biggest guy on the field to succeed. It does not matter what the person’s favorite team is most people who are baseball fanatics have a dream of being able to go to every single one of the professional fields. There are fields like Wrigley Field in Chicago or Fenway Park in Boston which are two of the most historic fields that most people strive to witness (Bleacher Report). Every field in baseball is different as well. Each field brings a new dynamic to the game which is mostly centered around the hitters and the outfield on having to make different adjustments just so they can fully utilize the field itself. Most of the fields have different from home plate to the fence in the outfield to hit a home run which means that if a hitter can hit a home run at one field, it does not mean he can hit one in the next. Also, because of the of the different distance it can cause the outfield to be either smaller or bigger than the previous one which means the outfielders have to make certain adjustments in different fields so that they can get to the ball when a play is needed to be made. There are many different situations in the game that involve taking risks and could be a turning point and foreshadow the outcome of who will win and who will lose. For example; if a batter were to hit a ball in the gap in the outfielder, the outfielder might have a choice whether or not he should dive and try to catch that ball. If he doesn’t the batter will be safe at first and nothing major will happen to the game as a whole, but if he does and he misses the ball the batter will be able to advance to second base or maybe even third base. That is a major turning point in any game. Another way audacity fits into this game is the “stolen base” (Huffington). When a batter gets on a base he has sanctuary on that base and cannot be called out while he in on the base. The batter or what should be called a running now that he is just running bases now has the option to risk his sanctuary to steal a base (Huffington).
