We all have a hero or heroes that defined our childhoods. Sometimes people don’t admit it, but a person like me, I got no problem telling you all the heroes I grew up with. I remember watching the 1992 animated series of Batman and I enjoyed it so much that my parent bought some Batman action figures which include his sidekick Robin, his iconic arch nemesis the Joker, etc. Although Batman is a hero I grew up, Robin is one of my personal heroes. This apply to any Robins like Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, Tim Drake, etc. Each of these people who took up the persona had an interesting role. Jason Todd (The second Robin), was killed by the Joker, but in a shocking way for which was a response to the fans petition for Todd to be killed off in the comics,
Alluding to Joseph Campbell's Hero's Journey helps guide readers along Batman's growth, as well as other characters conveying the overall themes of the comic of Rediscovery, Morality, and the struggle of Living with Dual Identities. Batman’s call to adventure was as soon as he

Not a Hero is a simple and beautiful World War One poem by Clyde Hamilton which has been read at ANZAC Day ceremonies across Australia. The poem tells a narrative of an ANZAC veteran, or “old digger”, at an ANZAC ceremony telling stories of heroes to a young boy. It effectively uses a simple, yet descriptive and telling vocabulary, as well as using literary devices such as rhyme and alliteration. It’s conservative and structured style demonstrated throughout the poem creates rhythm and makes the poem flow and thus easier to fathom.
Joseph Campbell detailed his theory of the monomyth in his book, The Hero with a Thousand Faces. The theory of the monomyth or Hero Cycle is that there is a way of telling a story that is hardwired into our brains and that across cultures myths will resemble each other due to this internal plot. The book shows how Humans in general prefer to, and find it hard not to, tell a narrative not as a hero’s journey with an underlying theme. If analyzed most books, TV shows, and movies are played out corresponding to the monomyth. The 2005 release of Batman Begins depicts this through a variety of events and then resolves with the underlying theme of facing your
Is Batman a hero? Batman is a hero because he follows the hero cycle. The hero cycle that batman follows is easily split into 3 sections, departure, initiation, and return.
The Byronic hero is immortalized as the bridge between epic hero and an anti-hero, in-between with the romantic and tragic hero as well. The main key elements that are present in many Byronic heroes is their sense of darkness and social exile, the struggle for acceptance not only from themselves but also from society, and finally internal traumas that were caused from past events. One of the modern characters that immortalizes the Byronic hero is DC Comics, Batman. From the original comic books, to television adaptations, and finally to the big screen, there is a lot of material that helps fixate him as a truly Byronic hero—all the way from his childhood to his adult and even afterlife years. Without describing all of the aspects, there
A country which has undergone and suffered a tremendous amount of racial discrimination for over the past two centuries, has evolved and has come a long way from where it all started off. In history, the African American people were looked down to as, property to their rightful owners, now in our present time, there has been a switch of scripts. There has been the first African American male, elected to be the president of the United States of America. From, this happening it truly shows a gigantic leap in our society nowadays, than from back two centuries ago. The African American president, Barack Obama has truly proven that anything is possible, in our day and age, and along his journey as the first African American president, has made a
Bruce Wayne, or Batman, witnessed his parents’ die at a very young age. That hardship left him with a choice to weep in sorrow or to take action. Facing that adversity changed his life. Now he protects the city of Gotham as Batman to find his parents killer.
“It’s not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.” Said by Bruce Wayne, explains how he feels about what he does as Batman. His actions as Batman prove him as an anti-hero. Christopher Nolan portrays Batman as an antihero through isolation of the character, and a dim setting of the movie.
“ What makes Superman a hero is not that he has power, but that he has the wisdom and the maturity to use the power wisely…” This is saying that Hero’s serve the will of others while still maintaining their own individual personality, the example of Abraham Lincoln, and that heroism is not the idea of serving yourself first, and all heroes are people who are responsible to use there power for good. For example, Hero's are people who do there best to force change in a positive way. They can do this in large ways or small ways.
Is Batman a real super hero, according to a lot of people they would say he is not and when you would ask for a reason why not; they will usually always give the same reason that he can’t be one since he has no super power. But I’m writing this paper to show that a superhero isn't necessarily defined by his powers, but rather, his zeal for fighting crime and his innate ability to do so. Batman may not have super human powers but he shares every other trait that other super heroes have that define them. As well another example of why we may consider Batman to be a real super hero is Lex Luthor, Lex does not have any
Everyone knows about Batman and his trusty sidekick Robin. They may even know that there have been multiple versions of this magnificent hero. The one version of this hero that reminds me the most of Patroclus from The Iliad is Jason Todd’s Robin. They have their similarities. But they also have their differences.
He has had a lot of tragedy happen to him since he became Batman. The tragedy that was the
He was a hero, a hero to us all. He was quite the creature, a creature of pure goodness, yet his appearance screamed off evil. His face was bat-like, symbolizing how people thought of him. As a child, he wasn’t given much, he survived on burnt toast and scraps of dry chicken. One day, his mother returned from the overworld – a world nobody must speak of. She gave him a Batman comic book. “Look,” she said, “Being like a bat isn’t so bad.” That was the last that he saw of his mother. Seven years later at the age of 15, his father told him to do the daily chores. Quickly, the teenager grabbed the rusty shovel and a garden hose. He went outside. Turning to the igniter on the hose, he turned it on. Out spewed a gallon or so of pure lava. The flowers
A Super Hero is the one everyone dreams to be, if I get opportunity to become a Super Hero it would be, “Bruce Wayne (The Batman)”.
