Unlike most, Bruce Wayne suffered from them traumatic experience of seeing both of his parents murdered at a very young age. This event combined with superior intellect would dramatically affect his ability to form relationships and display affection towards others. In The LEGO Batman Movie characters such as Batman, Robin and Alfred have many character interactions where one can identify many psychological concepts and phenomena that relate to social relationships and love. A plethora of concepts jumped out at my when I saw this film including need for affiliation, loneliness, and the hard-to-get effect. He finds his relationship with the Batman rewarding in the sense that he gets joy out Batman pursuit him after his crime and knowing that Batman will never kill him, he takes enjoyment in pushing him psychologically to see how far he can make him go. One can easily identify Batman as being affected with loneliness in the beginning if the movie. His only real relationship is with his butler Alfred, but because of the traumatic event that happened in his childhood he has had a difficult time cultivating emotional attachments to people. This lead him to often feel as if he is alone in the world and he displays this by distancing himself from multiple characters in the story line. For example, when the Joker brought all the villains to attack the city Batman’s first reaction was to attack them problem by himself even though he had a team that wanted to help. The hard-to-get effect is also shown in Batman interactions with the Joker. When Batman denied Joker of his need to be told how evil he is, Joker reacted but obsessing on a plan to get Batman to recognize him as an evil entity. Since Batman was playing hard to get, it leads Joker to intensify his efforts to get him noticed by …show more content…

These relationships with characters such as Joker, Robin and Barbara Gordon have evolved throughout the story as Batman character changes while revealing many psychological phenomena that can also be seen in human interaction. The movie shows what a persons behavior would most likely be like if they experienced that type of traumatic experience and how it would affect how they deal with their future
