called Operation Sea Lion. Germany attacked the royal air force and bombed as much of the country as they could, but they lost the battle. There are theories that Hitler was just worried about attacking Russia in the future.

Auschwitz was lead by the SS and separated into two camps called Auschwitz-Birkenau and Auschwitz-Monowitz. Germany suffers setbacks at Stalingrad and El Alamein. In February Singapore fell to the Japanese. There was around 25,000 prisoners taken into captivity. Many of them would die later in camps. June was the peak of Japanese expansion in the pacific. The battle of Midway was a good battle for the United States. The United States destroyed four Japanese carriers and a cruiser with sea-based aircraft. Which marked the turning point in the Pacific War.
The Germans surrendered at Stalingrad in 1943. That would be the Germans first major defeat. The battle in the atlantic continued. In one four day period a total of 27 merchant ships were sunk by German U-boats. Long range aircraft and the codebreakers at Bletchy were putting a lot of losses on the german u-boats. Towards the end of May, Admiral Donitz withdrew the

Allied Victory in North Africa enables the invasion of Italy to be launched. Italy surrendered but the Germans took over the battle. The Indian and British forces fought off the Japanese in
As the Japanese worked on fulfilling their overall plan of seizing territories all over Southeast Asia, the US navy worked on trying to stop them. The Japanese navy’s plan at that point of time,
The Battle of Midway dealt a devastating catastrophe for the Japanese naval and air capabilities with destroying four carriers, one heavy cruiser, 248 aircraft, and 3,057 personnel. The Americans lost one aircraft carrier, one destroyer, 150 aircraft, and 307 personnel. Historically, Midway has been considered the turning point in the Pacific theater of World War II. Japan's shipbuilding and pilot training programs were unable to keep pace in replacing their losses, while the U.S. steadily increased its output in both areas that inevitably led denying Japan the ability to achieve its limited policy objective: to destroy the American carrier force in the Pacific and use the Aleutians and Midway Island as stepping stones for a Japanese
The Battle of the Atlantic was the longest lasting battle of World War II. The Battle was to control the Atlantic Shipping Lanes and lasted from September 3rd 1939 to May 8th 1945, mainly in The Atlantic Ocean, but later spread to the United States and The Caribbean Sea. The Battle of the Atlantic was originally fought by Britain and Canada against Germany until 1940 when the Italians joined the German side. In 1941 the United States joined Britain and Canada in the battle, leading to the defeat of Germany. A significant even that lead up to The Battle of the Atlantic was when U-30 (U-boat 30) attacked Athenia, the passenger liner, a British auxiliary cruiser, within just hours of the British declaring war on Germany, killing 112 civilians that were aboard. These ships were the ones the submarines were told not to attack by The German Navy. This is what some say was the beginning of The Battle of the Atlantic. The Germans were also humiliated from World War One and felt they had not deserved to lose and have the harsh treatment put upon them, as outlined in The Treaty of Versailles.
reach, carrier based aircraft could reach the mainland. However, the bombers in the raid did not have enough fuel to return, and were forced to land in China. The raid had a significant impact on the outcome of the war because it baited the Japanese to counterattack, which led to the disastrous Battle of Midway. After the successful attack naval commanders began to see the aircraft carrier as a valuable weapon, and began to use them more. The strategy of long distance strikes developed from the raid would later be used by both sides during the Battles of Midway and the Coral Sea.
The Battle of the Atlantic lasted from September 1939 until the defeat of Germany in 1945; it was recalled to be the longest continuous military campaign. In the duration of six years; a glorified battle consisting of naval warfare, German U-boats, warships and Italian submarines were pitted against Allied convoys which aimed to transport military equipment and supplies across the Atlantic to Great Britain and the Soviet Union. This battle was executed to essentially gain control of Atlantic shipping routes, involved thousands of ships stretched and situated across the
The battle took place throughout the northern of the Atlantic Ocean. As soon as America entered the war, the battle spread to the coast of the U.S and the Caribbean Sea. It lasted over five years and 8 months from September 3rd, 1939 to May 8th, 1945. The early battles favored the Germans. They used U-boats (submarines) to sneak up on British ships then sink them. Over the first few years the allies did not know what to do so they lost a lot of ships.
States interference. Midway was the first major naval battle between the United Stated and Japan after Pearl Harbor. It was also one of the most important battles in all of World
Germany did not have a numerically superior force on the western front, but bold strategy, careful planning and blitzkrieg tactics set the foundation for the French defeat. In June 1940 Hitler invaded Paris, eight days later the French surrendered. After the French surrender, Hitler attempted to end the war with Britain. Speaking to the Reichstag in June, he said, “I can see no reason why the war need go on.” But Hitler was already had his sights set on invading Russia. He now aimed to end the war in the west so he could concentrate on attacking communist Russia in the east. Hitler knew that invading Britain would be difficult, but still he informed his military to leaders to prepare for the operation, Operation Sea Lion, and proceeded in planning a landing operation against Britain.
Japan had no allies going into this war.Japan had the upperhand in the air and sea in the beginning of WW2. They had this domination for 4 years and had a turning point around March 1945, after a long time of naval, air, and land battles. They had an upper hand because they use the element of surprise
When Germany invaded the Soviet Union, at first they were doing very well, each army group, North, Center, and South, were doing exactly what they were told or what the plan was. North was cutting through Soviet lines headed for their main goal of capturing Leningrad. Center was moving for an ultimate goal of the Capital City of Moscow, but they first had to go through Minsk and Solmensk. Then, lastly, Army group was headed towards Kiev, then worked their way down towards southern Russia to the Donets Basin with the end goal of meeting up in Moscow. Throughout the beginning weeks and months the Germans were going exactly as planned, they had even better results than they thought
The Battle of the Atlantic was the right between the Allied and German forces to decide who can take control of the Atlantic ocean, It was the Longest battle during World War II. It began right after the British declaration of the war against Germany in September 1939 and ended when Germany surrendered to the Allies in May 1945. The Allies needed to keep the flow of men and supplies going between North America and Europe. On the other hand, the Germans wanted to cut these supply lines. In order to do this, the Germans used submarines, called U-boats, and other warships to sink Allied transport ships. During the six years of battle, thousands of ships were sunk and men were killed.
The Battle of the Philippine Sea was an engagement between the United States Pacific Fleet and the Japanese navy in World War II. This Battle occurred started on June 19 and ended on June 20 in 1944. The Japanese goal at the very beginning of this conflict was to discourage American forces by incurring such great damage to the military that the public majority would become weary of the war and discontinue its support of the war. The loss of support from the public would then cause the US Government to retract its forces from Japan.( Willmott, H.P. June 1944. New York, NY: Blandford Press, 1984. suffered a major defeat at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, the commander-in-chief of the Combined Fleet, took advantage of the situation the U.S. was put in after its losses during Pearl Harbor (“Japs Risk Large Naval Units...”). With the backbone of U.S. Pacific Fleet torn out, Japan made several attempts to dominate the Pacific. Japan was anxious to settle their differences with the U.S., so they began risking large naval units in Pacific battles. An article posted in the Los Angeles Time, “Japs Risk Large Naval Units in Blows at U.S.” says, “For the sixth time in six months Japan made a deadly bid to capture the mastery of the Pacific, and for the sixth time she has failed after paying a price that is fast becoming prohibitive,” (“Japs Risk Large Naval Units...”). This article was posted days after the Battle of Midway, on June 7th, 1942 reflecting the actions of the Japanese Navy in the previous months. The Japanese were anxious to pounce on the weakened U.S. after Pearl Harbor, backing their attacks with large naval units. The Japanese felt that they needed to take over Midway Island in order to claim dominance over the U.S. in the Pacific.
The Germans were losing aircraft and pilots fast; Hitler postponed Operation Sea Lion. Germany had lost. The fighter pilots of the battle of Britain had saved Britain from invasion, but many of its major cities were severely bombed. German U boats and surface vessels also began a new campaign.
During World War II, the battle of Stalingrad began in the city of Stalingrad, Russia and was fought between August of 1942 and February of 1943. http://www.history.com/topics/world-war-ii/battle-of-stalingrad It is still considered today to be one of Russia’s greatest battles in which the Russian army defended itself from invasion by the German army. This battle essentially stopped Germany’s determined advance into Russian territory. This marked a huge turning point in the war for the Allies. It was a very important war because it crippled the German offensive as well as destroying much of its army.
