MILLERSBURG — While the murder of Gayle Meggyesy may have rocked the community, it left a huge void in the lives and pain in the hearts of her family.
Hey, Cory, I researched and found an article about a man named Harold J. Stewart, a 42-year-old high school dropout, who defended himself in a murder case in Prince George's County, whereas he was accused of beating a sleeping man to death with a baseball bat. (Casteneda, 2008) Stewart’s pro se trial only lasted three days; where is the fairness in this prosecution? The jury only deliberated for about an hour. It seems like Stewart never had a chance; considering, at the most, it takes at least more than a day even to hear evidence in a murder trial. It was faith because the jurors found Stewart not guilty of first-degree murder and not guilty of second-degree murder. (Casteneda, 2008) You know there is a saying a man who represents himself
Like most things for me, I begin with a story. I have intentionally omitted the names of the killers, this is the victims story not theirs. By all account’s Marjorie Hipperson was a striking young woman, in her early twenties working as a nurse in Hollywood, she had a prosperous future ahead of her. She was returning home on a Saturday evening in May of 1957 from her and her fiancée engagement party to prepare for their upcoming trip to Chicago. When Marjorie failed to show for work the next morning or answer any phone calls, her fiancée went to apartment to check on her. Upon his arrival at her home, he discovered his would be bride’s naked lifeless body, her nightgown pulled over her shoulders, her pantyhose wrapped around her neck. On October 7, 1994 in Beckton, London, England, while Daniel Handley was working on his bicycle, he was approached by two men in a Peugeot 405, who claimed to be lost and sought direction from Daniel on their map. Meanwhile, their fantasy was to abduct a young fair haired, pre-teen buy and sexually abuse him and kill him to hide their crime. With the map placed in the back seat of their car, as Daniel leaned in to look at it, he was pushed into the car and they drove off. At their flat, both men sexually abused him while the other videoed the activity. Then, Daniel was taken to a layby by Hungerford in Berkshire and strangled to death with a rope. His body was dumped in a shallow grave near Bristol and found in March 1995. This paper is to look at why child kidnapping and abuse happened and still happens to this day. To also look at “what kind of person would take pleasure from raping and killing a ten-year-old boy?”
Andre Hatchett is one among the many that have been wrongfully convicted and served several years for a crime that he didn’t commit. Hatchett spent most of his life in prison for a murder he did not commit, which was due to inadequate evidence that the defense did not know about. It started with Neda Mae Carter, who was found brutality beaten and found dead on February 18, 1991, in Bedford- Stuyvesant. Earlier that evening Hatchett was with Carter, who he visited almost every day due to his aunt living in the same house. When it came to questioning Hatchett was very cooperative with police, he provided an alibi for police and then was able to leave. At the time of the crime Hatchett was 24 and has special needs and was also had a cast on his leg.
The shooting occurred at the Fruitvale train station on January 1st, 2009. At the station, a fight broke out in one of the trains and when the train stopped the fight started again outside of the train at one of the stops. While they were fighting on the train the BART officers were called. The officers came and arrested everyone that was in the fight. A guy named Oscar Grant was in the fight and was also arrested (Meyer). While Grant was being arrested by Officer Mehserle, he resisted the officer’s attempts. Since Grant was resisting he was pushed onto the ground on his stomach to be handcuffed. Johannes Mehserle was having trouble handcuffing Grant so the other BART officers helped him. When Grant was on the ground Mehserle was going to tase him since he would not stop resisting. When Mehserle thought he pulled out his TASER, he instead pulled out his gun. Mehserle accidentally shot Grant with his gun since he thought he pulled out his TASER (Bulwa).

Jeffrey Robert MacDonald was a U.S. Army officer and a medical doctor who was convicted in 1979 of murdering his pregnant wife and two daughters in February 1970. The reason why I chose this case is because this murder case is said to be one of America’s most enduring murder mysteries and the main topic of a best-selling book. Not only this, but I also chose this case because it took about 9 years for Macdonald to be finally convicted and the U.S army got involved and made their own investigation because they didn’t believe his story. This meant that this case had many twists and turns, making it a mysterious case that’s very intriguing and wanting to know more about.
