Bba Personal Statement

I grew up alongside the wild Rocky Mountain Columbines, where the air is crisp and the winters are long. I spent my time engaging in the arts such as acting, writing, and creating. From a young age I was drawn to the world of imagination and found happiness through producing art. We all face and over come challenges within our lives and whenever I am faced with hardship I find comfort in visually expressing myself.

Education. It is a vital source needed in order to succeed. Though many schools offer a basic education, there are not many that offer the advanced level of learning that ASMSA provides. While attending ASMSA, I hope to be taught at a higher level that better suits my standards. ASMSA will give me the prospect to learn at a level that I can use to challenge myself to better my future.

Prior to high school, my uncle was my chemistry teacher. As a food scientist, he was to me a great inventor who knew everything about the magic of taste, texture, and aroma; I still remember his lecture on “good” chocolate and how cocoa butter—solid at room temperature—melts readily in our mouths. Raised on an early appreciation for the power of applied science, I am now driven toward chemical science by a desire to uncover solutions to challenges in the modern world.

As a student at California Baptist University I will strive to be the best student I can be. I count on this university to prepare me for the real world and build towards my future and career. I hope CBU provides me with a lot of experience and hands on training, so that when I graduate I will be prepared. I’m determined to expand my knowledge and become a well rounded individual. I wish to broaden my learning skills overall and become a better student. Learning in a college environment will be different compared to high school, however I am looking forward to obtaining new information from the teachers at CBU.

With my twenty years of experience in Early Childhood Education, I’ve collaborated with teachers in developing and implementing ideas to support student’s academic performance. I performed student’s academic assessments. I complied and maintained daily logs based on student's level of progression. In addition, I logged in financial statements, received inventory items and organized inventory for distribution of class materials needed for instruction. I’ve provided effective parental support with the families to develop and implement teaching techniques to enhance their child's growth development and knowledge of school readiness skills. In this day and age, less than 2% of people in the United States is involved in the production of food for the remaining 98% of citizens in the country. Among discussions occurring in the 2%, one common topic is a lack of education about agriculture in the general public. Prior to high school, I am ashamed to admit, but I was one of the people who would have answered that my milk came from a grocery store. As a project one year, I went to the grocery store and interviewed shoppers as to their knowledge about agriculture. Many of them had a similar belief as I once had, food starts at the grocery store. I have grown up on my family farm outside of Albert Lea MN for my whole life. I have always taken a special interest in the beef cattle on our farm. I currently manage all of the herd records, and own part of the business. Throughout my SAE project through FFA, I started my own herd as well. I work extremely hard on our farm with the beef chores. I also help out with the crop farming on my farm by running tractors and watching bins. Because I have such an interest in cattle, I started working on a dairy farm two years ago. I currently milk 150 cows before, and after school everyday. I take a lot of time with my school studies as well. I maintain a 4.0 even while taking numerous college classes, and working. As a senior in high school, I have been questioned about where I am going to school and what degree I plan on getting. Up until about November of 2015, I was very indecisive. I was torn between a career in healthcare and what I knew I was passionate about. I wanted to be a teacher. I have taken health care classes since my freshman year of high school.

My involvement in extracurricular activities has helped me grow as a person over the past four years of high school. I have learned how to be more responsible, reliable, as well as how to be a team player and work well with others. I enjoyed playing softball and CYO volleyball and basketball. I knew it was not just about the game I was also about the people. I did my best to help my teammates.

Touring Dallas Baptist University for the first time in November, I felt part of the culture. The location of DBU is essential in my life because it allows me to continue with my services that already established. The short commute from my house to DBU is convenient because allows me to save money not to live on campus and stay in close contact with my family. As well, this will also give me a chance to continue my community service with St. James Parish in Oak cliff and in West Dallas. Additionally, DBU is prominent because it is in the middle of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, which allows for a wider range of jobs, and networking opportunities. I am in the National Guard and my monthly drills are in Lewisville; this will allow me to continue with my current unit.

While being a junior in high school I often thought to myself what I would want to do after graduation. I had no general idea of what I wanted to do but knew I would want to attend a college near my hometown. I was active in my FFA serving as the chapter historian and was an active member for four years prior to becoming an officer. While being on the officer team and taking an abundance of agriculture classes I learned how much of a passion I would have for agriculture. That spring I had attended Career Development Events for FFA competing in food science and technology and the following year I participated in floriculture.

I am Kristianne Dowd and I am currently in my third year as an Agriculture and Food Systems major with a minor in Science Teacher Education. I am one of four other students that have aspirations to become an agricultural educator after college. At the New Jersey State FFA Convention in 2012, there was a luncheon held by various Rutgers University staff. There I was informed of the opportunity to attend Rutgers University in order to receive my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree within 5 years with a focus on Agricultural Sciences. During the Rutgers University application program I had applied with the intent to major in Agriculture and Food Systems with the desire to participate in the 5-year track to earn a Master’s Degree in Education.

The National FFA Organization is an organization that I have been devoted to full heartedly, as a student, I grew hooked to every opportunity that FFA could offer and fell in love FFA goal, which has been consistent for every generation. Their goal is to develop leadership, personal growth, and future success, as an officer, I have promoted my responsibility to lead in my own unorthodox way of being gentle and graceless.

My name is Brittney Duffy and I transferred from the financial assistance department at Metro. I have been employed with Baptist for 3 years. I started off as a CNA at the heart hospital Downtown and transitioned into the patient financial department in 2015. I am currently working on my Bachelors at FSCJ for Supervision and Management and I will graduate in summer 2018. I am extremely excited to be joining the BMDA team and am looking forward to starting this new journey in my career.

I would like to apply for a 2016 summer internship in the accounting department at the Tennessee Valley Authority Corporate Headquarters in Knoxville. After doing research online and with my career counselor, Robin Lay, at Tusculum College I have decided that the Tennessee Valley Authority would be a stupendous place to begin gaining real world experience and knowledge in the accounting field.
