Knowing Your Audience
To the family of the trapped miners I would chose to use the face-to-face approach since such a sensitive matter at hand where their family member’s lives are at risk. The considerations that you need to keep in mind when addressing the family members is that many of them are going to be frightened and scared for the safety of their family members. You will want to have all your facts and be prepared to answer many difficult questions concerning the well-being of the miners and how long it is going to take to rescue them, as well as providing them with the facts about how this happened. A good thing to do in a situation like this is to offer

Communication Release When addressing the employees of the company I would also chose to address them face-to-face because there is going to be a lot of concern for their co-workers and the scare that this could have been them or could be them in the future. In 1907, two miles south of Centralia, Illinois was the Centralia Mine No. 5. The Mine was there to provide coal during World War II. This particular mine employed 250 men and produced 2,000 tons of coal each day. During the next several years there were several complaints made regarding the safety of the mine. On March 25, 1947, the mine exploded, killing 111 miners. (Stillman, 2010)
This is corresponding to today’s community because if the climbers are unskilled and they are not sure about safety, then they must not go mountain climbing, if they die their family and friends will be sad also the rescuer may die too. There have been over 230 deaths on the mountain. It’s very dangerous! what if the accident happen? People never know what will happen in the future. Think before you do something! Undoubtedly, people do not have the right to rescue services when they put themselves at
Not since the 1980's has a recent surge of uranium mining claims occured in the Four Corners region. Energy Fuel Resources Inc. has placed its Canyon Mine on standby and expects to resume shaft sinking operations December of next year, when an official court ruling is made and depending on market conditions.
You know that. They have a good place for their dogs and a slave to take care of them. The mine owners’ wives will take the dogs up, and say, “I love you, dea-h.” My friends the day for petting dogs is gone; the day for raising children to a nobler manhood and better womanhood is here!”
We have come to a time where it is imperative to reset our courses associated with the safety of the employees, the safety of the brand and the longevity of the company alongside their competitive edge. As senior manager, consideration should not be limited to solely short-run solutions. It is primary for the company’s decision makers of all tiers manage the negative and positive potential of any crisis as time can carry the possibilities of unknown limits. Accommodations must be made for the entire community (Senior Management, Ergonomists, Labor Leaders, Politicians of the city, Service Staff, Human Resources and Line Management) under the company’s payroll that has been affected by this natural disaster using our revised Crisis Management Portfolio.
From February 7, 1942 to the deaths of 111 miners on March 25, 1947, Centralia Number 5 was a disaster waiting to happen. So many things could have been done that were not. Scanlan's first report on February 7, 1942 was a premonition of the disaster to come. Scanlan as an inspector should have and could have done more to prevent this tragedy. This paper will discuss the four measures that Scanlan could have taken to avoid the catastrophe that resulted in so many deaths.
In his book “Deep Down Dark: The Untold Stories of 33 Men Buried in a Chilean Mine, and the Miracle That Set Them Free,” Hector Tobar recounts the story of 33 miners who spent 69 days trapped more than 2000 feet underground in the Chile’s San Jose mines following the collapse of the mine in 2010. According to Tobar (2015), the disaster began on a day shift around noon when miners working deep inside the mountain excavating minerals started feeling vibrations. A sudden massive explosion then followed and the passageways of the mines filled with dust clouds. Upon settling of the dust, the men discovered that the source of the explosion was a single stone that had broken off from the rest of the mountain and caused a chain reaction leading to
The “Benoni Mine Incident” is a situation that encompasses an episodic case of illegal mining that took place in South Africa. A rescue operation was set in motion in February of 2014 at an abandoned mine shaft near Johannesburg in attempt to rescue a number of illegal mine workers. It was first thought they were trapped due to a rockslide, but was later revealed that a rival crew of illegal miners had trapped them in there. In the beginning reports first suggested that there were 200 trapped and were later estimated to it actually being 30. After several miners were rescued, word had gotten back to the rest of the miners below that they were being arrested and the remaining illegal workers refused to leave
Remember, your fellow citizens have nothing with them while they run through these streets, seeking a temporary home. If you happen to be one of the gracious souls who gives up a portion of their home until this tragedy ends, let your guest stay for no charge and give them privacy and peace. Perhaps you should make a meal for them and report to them the latest news. Make your residence the most comfortable place for them to escape the hunt. They are in a very unfortunate position and don’t have the freedom to go outside for air or to a restaurant for a
The people of the community rely on those emergency personnel to get them out of the hazardous situation. Like any situation, the outcomes can be positive or negative. The outcomes we are aiming for are that the public will receive all the proper information and are familiar with the plan of action. However, this leaves a lot of room for miscommunication. If too many people get involved with trying to relay information, the message could get misconstrued. That is why it is important to make sure everyone on the emergency team is aware of their duties and those who aren’t supposed to be giving out information do not.
Developing trust with the family members is important to help to make sure everyone is evacuated and no one is hiding from the authorities.
After gathering the facts of the situation, an evaluation of potential stakeholders is imperative. The stakeholders involved in this decision are the six embassy workers, the rescue team, and the American people. The stranded
The mining industry in the United States has a long history beginning in the 1600s when iron ore was mined in Jamestown and sent overseas to England (Bolles, 1879). Often in this century it is easy to forget where the energy one is utilizing came from or where the metal which makes items people use every single day come from. Unfortunately, with obtaining necessary metals and coal comes the risk of accidents and the different ethics involved in the industry in order to keep not only workers safe but keep the environment safe as well.
The second part of the classic decision model is determining who the stakeholders are involved in the situation. We need to determine how to handle this situation and who to speak to about it. As stated by South University, “When you decide who should participate, you will also decide how they participate. You will want to speak with some people individually, especially those persons who contribute technical or other knowledge relating to the subject matter and who is a specialist in the situation,” (South University, 2013). At this point it is best to speak to a manager and head of the Emergency
