I remember it like it was yesterday, the memories still vivid… flashing in my mind.
I used to think the beach was the best place in the world the soft, warm, brown sand squishing in-between my toes. The beautiful waves crashing down, the sun beating down on me. But that was when I used to love it, now I fear the beach like a monster underneath the bed. It was a scorching summer day in California and my family and I were headed to the beach to cool down. We raced to the beach, badly wanting to run into the mystic blue ocean, as fast as light we set down our stuff and dived into the water. However, my mom sat on the sand watching us with a smile, the day was going perfect, everything we could ask for a vacation.
My dad grinned and nodded as he swam farther into the ocean so we could jump waves. “Let’s go deeper,” he called.
I begun to swim to him second guessing myself, I noticed something about the beach when we arrived and it was that these waves were massive they sprayed cool mist and made white water foam climb up the shore like a monkey on a tree. I continued going deeper submerging my shoulders. My dad called out to me and shouted, “The current is really strong so stay close.” Colossal waves pounded me again and again, it was getting later and the waves were getting stronger and bigger every minute. I thought to myself those waves are gigantic!!!
We kept jumping waves until we grew tired, we were about to get out when the biggest wave I had ever seen lurked behind us and smashed into us, I felt like I had been slapped in the face. Confusion covered me, I was baffled, the last word I heard before being consumed by the wave was, “AVARY!”...
Everything felt as if it was happening in slow motion the water came first stuffing my mouth with seawater, my lungs were also invaded with water. Then came the terrifying creature… seaweed, the slimy beast wrapped itself around my foot. I tried to scream but nothing came out. After that came the deathly waves that held me under, making me feel like I was drowning, being sucked into the deep water. It felt like I’d been stuck under for hours, at last, I felt descended downward until I the reached the rough sand covering the bottom of the ocean, air clawed at my
In the beautiful blue water I grab the rope and swim to the end of it. Then, the boat starts to move so I pull myself up. Now, I was standing on the Wakeboard gliding across the water. Then suddenly there were waves right in front of us, and we were headed straight for them and I said to myself, “ oh crap”. I still was standing when the waves crashed into my board, but the last wave turned my board sideways and my face hit the water very hard and my face felt like it was split apart, and my family said it looked like
In the consuming darkness her body began to float upwards. Her mouth was open, letting in small discreet amounts of air, trying to buy as much time as she could before she ran out. Her fragile body was suspended in an awkward posture with her torso jutted forward and her limbs moving like a clockwork doll. Amongst the relentless whipping of the undulating waves she could hear her sister’s scream. She felt herself rise upwards as she continued to flail. She had to survive. She had to somehow reach the surface of the water and survive. She didn’t want to die. Not now. She was running out of air, no longer able to fight the urge to breathe. She looked up to see the sunlight, but she saw none. Then it dawned on her. She wouldn’t make it. She let
Standing up on the sand, I felt the rays embrace in my skin. Walking out to the water I recieved cold chills of the wet sand between my toes, As I walking I spotted a little crab burrowing in the wet sand, trying to hide before it turned into a lunch predator. As I brought myself to knee deep in the water there were waves of soft currents that splashed upon my face. It felt refreshing to my skin like a glass of iced water on a hot day. An abundance colored, and variously sized fish swarm around my feet. Their bodies brushed against my leg with inattentiveness to get to one place to another. I could help to wonder what their rush could be. In a blink of eye, Crash! A monster wave hits me and pushes me all the way the shore. Taking a seat back down on the uneven dry sand, I ran my hands through the smooth surface. I laid back and let myself absorb the blistering rays on the sun upon my skin. As my feet soaked down into the moist sand, I realized the most beautiful place on earth would have to be the
The weather was decent, but evening was approaching and it was getting chillier. A lay on my stomach and steady the tube as Noah gets on. We grab on to the handles in front of us and the tube is propelled forward by the boat. We started picking up speed, but it was still easy to stay on the tube. We started reaching speeds of up to forty miles per hour. It was amazing, the water flashed by on either side. We were still going straight but we were ramping off waves. The water splashed in my face every time we went airborne and landed again, but I didn’t care. And then we started turning. We turned right, which was the side I was on. We just let the tube go where it wanted to go, but that was a mistake. The tube came closer to the gigantic wave made by the boat engine. We reamped of the wave, and I knew I was a goner. I began sliding off the tube, and I thought I was gone. Finally my body was flung into the water, but my hands had a firm grip on the handle bars. Uncle ralph slowed down enough so I could pull myself up on the tube. With most of my body soaking wet, and slippery. When we turned again we turned left. This time we tried to lean against the wave. The tactic worked pretty good, but me hit the wave again. Noah was gone in an instant. I look back and he is floating some ways back
We knew that we were racing against time. My husband turned the key and the motor started to sputter and shake. He flipped some switches and tinkered with the engine, but nothing seemed to be solving the problem. Since he couldn’t figure it out, there was no question about it. We had to hook up the water bike and tow the boat back to shore. It was like a tugboat pulling a battleship. Just as we started our journey, our luck went from bad to worse. The sky that had been picture perfect was quickly changing. The sun was now playing hide and seek in the clouds. The once large white, fluffy, pillow shaped clouds that occasionally blocked out the golden sun turned into dark gray ragged clouds. With that came plump missiles of mass destruction that pelted our tender sunburned skin. It felt like icy needles penetrating throughout our bodies. The gentle winds that once danced with our boat suddenly turned into a fierce hip- hop which sent us into an ocean of mountains of angry waves. The boat tossed and turned in the heavy swells. The waves lifted us up so high and then threw us back down, I thought for sure the boat would break into tiny pieces. With one final tug, we finally made it to the dock. However, the strength of the swell, sent us crashing into another boat. Just as we tied up, I noticed a young lady unconscious on the dock. Her friends were by her side. I shouted out "Did anyone call 911" they said that they did
I run into the water and tumble into the waves. I feel them strongly hitting against me,I see my sister riding against the rough waves. I taste the salty sea water I got itchy sand all over I stood up just to be knocked back over.
Our tour guide made us take turns sitting on the edge of the boat with our wetsuits and snorkelling gear on in case there was a sighting. After all that she had said I thought that she was just trying to get our hopes up for something that wasn’t going to happen. It was joyless. Well, until she said “JUMP” that is. At the time, I had no clue what so ever what I was doing. The person next to me jumped so I just did to. That’s when I touched it. I had landed on the world’s biggest sea creature; the whale shark. The tour guide quickly jumped in and pulled out her camera; a Go-Pro and began filming me along-side the shark. Luckily I was the only one on the same side as the shark as her as I began posing and smiling for the camera. That’s the shark sped up and drifted out of distance. My heart was racing as this had been one of the most tremendous and overwhelming experiences of my young
A young girl shook nervously at the sight of the wide tides of her family's privately owned ocean side. She herself had lived in this familiar place for over eleven years... Why was she so scared to do this? She sighed underneath her shaky breath and made her way towards the waves, dragging her surfboard closely with her. When she reached the area she was greeted by her father, A strong but yet still a goofy professional surfer. When he saw his daughter has finally pushed back her peers, he smiled and walked towards her. "How ya doin' pumpkin?" she stared at him with glassy eyes before replying."I'm fine, I guess." her voice was dry. The man simply shook his head and bent down towards her. "Amber." He said with a serious tone, "I want you to go out and surf like you mean it... Just
We waited as the waves crashed back and forth on the rocks. As one wave drew back we boldly rushed forward. The lukewarm water slid over our skin and resisted the movement of our legs. Clambering on to the rocks just as the next waves came, we continued on, exploring the dips and cracks of the slippery cliffs. Lost in a world of our own, and confident in our agility as we climbed, it was awhile before we heard the calling of my mother. Was she telling us to turn back? It was hard to tell over the noise of the waves and the distance between us. We were so close we thought. But looking around we realized the tide was rising. The spray of the sea was making the rocks look slick and black despite their rough edges. The way back had just become a lot more dangerous. On top of that, we had to climb up a steep part of rocks to avoid going near the water and getting mercilessly smashed by waves. Looking up at the short jagged cliff, I was not super worried because I have been climbing a manner of things since as long as I remembered. But once on the face of the rock, I realized it was going to be harder than I expected. I hung on, my arms trembling from the weight of my body. I could hear the pounding of the waves
In the three seconds I spent longing, the monstrous storm subsided. I peered through the briny mist and saw chunks of tin debris drifting by and the captain floating further out to the sea. I swam over and latched onto a piece of the paddle wheel. Then I grabbed a hold of the captain’s collar and hauled him toward me.
The sound of the emerald green ocean water crashing against the shores filled my ears. Children ran along the shore, smiling from ear to ear while laughing amongst each other clearly enjoying their day. Some people were searching contently for sea shells, that were visible for miles. I looked out at the ocean, it stretched out far into the horizon; as far as my eyes could see. There were jetty’s that were perfectly placed within the ocean. I could smell the salt radiating off of the water. I had been waiting for this moment for a long time; I dashed into the ocean I’d been waiting for for the past
I headed out to the water after setting up my towel. The shock of the frigid water took my breath away and I was momentarily stunned. However, I quickly recovered; finding my body adjusts rapidly to the cold water. I waded a few feet into it before leaning forward and swimming out. I didn't dare to go too far though, instead turning to swim parallel to the shore. I was comforted by the sounds of the ocean; the rhythmic pounding of the waves represses all of my worries. I looked into the cloudless cerulean blue sky and see the perfection of life. Just when I was starting to get tired and wanted to go back to the shore, I saw something.
I walked along the beach. As I was walking I could feel the fresh smell of the beach like it was an air freshener but it also smelled that gave me a tingle in my nose. As I kept walking along the beach I could feel the light breeze coming against me. This fresh air felt warm as I felt like I was sleeping in a comfortable bed. I kept walking in the beach, as I did it felt like an escape to all my problems and also my stress. Beach felt like a solution to all my problems and could be open with anything.
The place where I feel most comfortable is a place where I am calm. A place that is peaceful in its own ways. It is the place to go to get away from all my troubles. It is the one place where I could sit forever, and never get tired of just staring into the deepest blue I have ever seen. It is the place where I can sit and think the best. A place where nothing matters but what is in that little moment. The one place capable of sending my senses into an overload. This place is the ocean.
The sand was a scorching heat, it burned our feet as we eagerly walked down to the ocean shore. Sea oats (tallgrass important to sand dunes and beach plant life) and tiny red and black ants were seen everywhere, covering the sand until we got closer to the sea. Small pieces of bright seashells were scattered all over the place, cutting and poking our feet as we walked around. Cigarette butts and trash from past visitors littered the beautiful sand. The beach was deep, making our feet sink down with every step. Shoes made walking around the sand hard, as they would just get filled with the white sand and make our feet heavier to lift up from the ground. People were everywhere, their brightly colored umbrellas and towels covering the entirety of the beach, adults and kids alike were rushing out into the waves with colorful surfboards and animal floaties. My purple bag chair was sitting just in the right spot for the waves to flow up to my feet and back down again. After awhile, the sand that's being taken in from the soft waves starts sinking the chair legs down. The chair starts leaning forwards, almost completely knocking me into the wet, sticky sand. Brightly colored Seashells come floating up next to me with the crashing waves, where I am low enough to the ground that I can quickly scoop them up before the ocean takes them away again.
