When I first browsed through the different topics on which we were to write essays on, I was ecstatic when I saw one about rock and roll. Once I started skimming through all the bands and artists I know and love, I knew there would be no problem writing this essay. I firmly believe that I was born in the wrong generation of music because I am a hardcore oldies junkie at heart. For this reason, the bands I have selected are as follows: The Beastie Boys, Fleetwood Mac, The Police, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash, and The Righteous Brothers.
One of the main reasons why I adore the Beastie Boys like many others is because of their care-free energetic aura that they mix together with captivating sounds discretely concealing rhetorical puns. What makes them especially unique to me is their transformation from a rowdy party punk band to a mixture of pop, rock, and hip-hop. In addition to a change musically, it was clear that their maturity shifted alongside it. This eventually led the band to use its widespread popularity and

Although you could say I am partly biased due to the fact that he was born and raised in the great state of Arkansas. Nonetheless, his music is loved by people all over the country for several reasons. For example, probably the biggest reason why people loved Johnny Cash is because of his humble personality which caused all of his songs to feel very down to earth which related to a multitude of people from all classes. From experiencing many struggles in his own life, Cash was able to translate his own emotions and thoughts into lyrics with rhythmic beats that attracted the average individual who shared the same feelings. Even though I am not able to see him in concert since he passed away, listening to his live recorded songs makes me realize that the rock and roll icon still lives through the music he poured his life
Johnny Cash achieved many accolades in his long, influential life. Debatably the most noteworthy is how he is one of three artists, Elvis, Hank Williams, and Cash, who is a member of both the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Becoming a member of both is not an easy feet for any artist. In order to do so one has to be the very best in each style of music. Cash at 48 became the youngest performer to ever be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame (Danker). Kris Kristofferson put it the best way, “You felt like he should've had his face on Mount Rushmore” ( Kristofferson). This view was really how the American public viewed J.C. He was an American hero on par with Presidents or war heroes. He was given as
The impact music had on teenagers was significant. Teenager’s developed a new style of music called Rock ‘n’ Roll, because the lyrics reflected and embraced their lives. High school sweethearts, fast-cars, and rebellion against authority resembled what teenagers craved the most. Parents disliked the message and influence behind the lyrics of Rock ‘n’ Roll, because they believed it caused juvenile delinquency. Parents hated the sexuality of the songs, the performers,
By the end of the decade, however Rock was taken over by big business, and what used to be a provocative sound turned into songs about teen-appropriate issues such as school, parents, young love, etc.

These two longtime friends have been together since their pop warner days on the town football team and now on the high school wrestling team. They have a bright future ahead of them, but then an unexpected twist happens and they must grow-up quickly with new found wisdom about
Many people look at those who are successful and think it is so simple. An example, Slash from Guns N' Roses, he makes shredding on guitar look simple. The thing is though, no one looks at all the hard work that people put in to be successful. Drug addicts, they go through relapses but they still keep moving forward and kick the drugs. Another example would be body builders, it's not like one day they magically decide that they want to have intense muscles. It takes time to be successful. No one really knows how hard it is to be successful until they actually try.
Rivers Cuomo, Patrick Wilson, Matt Sharp, and Jason Cropper formed the alternative rock group known as Weezer in 1992 in Los Angeles, California. The band went through several names before lead singer Rivers Cuomo christened the band as Weezer after his childhood nickname due to his asthma.
Beastie Boys, now seen as a forefront in the gentrification of Hip Hop, were at first an anomaly. Being an all white group in a predominantly African-American industry was not a walk in the park at first, but once they showed their ability to rap; no one seemed to doubt that they truly belonged in the Hip

I am one of those rare “millennials” who appreciate pop culture from the past. I don’t forget about them; I carry them. I got into rock ‘n roll music since I was born. To me, rock ‘n roll music made me the man I am today.
Music is constantly evolving, from the instruments to the technology. Today there are many genres that one can relate to such as pop, indie, jazz etc. However, there is a genre that swept the nation years ago and is the main reason we have most of the genres today. Rock and Roll is an influential genre which has many historic artists. This specific genre uses many different instruments and was successful due to many different aspects.
The music was opening eyes of the youth and showing them the cruelties of America. Elvis Presley began to rise on the music scene, his music was showing “rebellion as an eye-opening style”(Bob Dylan, The Beatles, and The Rock of the Sixties). It wasn’t until 1962 that the generation had found a music to truly fit their desire for music. This genre was known to be a mixture of gospel, blues, jazz, western swing, and country music. There are countless altered types of rock songs which means they can use different instruments but a few common instruments are drums, bass guitar, piano, and vocals which makes it a unique genre because although it is the same genre, each rock songs uses its own instruments and it’ll still make rock and roll music. Rock and Roll was a time of change in the dance field and inspired many people in the fashion industry and to mix different types of music to achieve a certain beat and with that, new trends will start occurring in society and
The band Sonic Youth was brought to the New York hardcore scene in the 1980s. Like a lot of rock bands the Sonic Youth was started by two college dropouts. Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore moved to New York City and became encouraged by the artistic scene of New York. They fell in to the “underground” music world, which had formed after the fall in popularity of punk music. The bands of New York were driven toward a new sound in music. It was in New York were Moore met Kim Gordon. Gordon was a bass player that enjoyed the no-wave scene. After meeting drummer Richard Edson, the band Sonic Youth was born, and they took to New York’s alternative music scene. Their biggest influence was a composer named John Cage. Cage took to making classical music
