My reaction to the Jeff Koon artwork is awesome and beautiful. The hanging heart is very attractive and interested to me because when I looked this artwork it is strong emotion and cheerful with bright color. I choose Jeff Koons because when I went to his website I saw a lot of his beautiful art work. For example, balloon of animal sculpture that reminds me the birthday celebration. I don’t have any more right now, but when I see one of these sculptures big and bright it also immediately transported me back there. Yes I totally agree with his artwork. I do find his art work is value for the viewer to share of love with their family or society.
The artist that I decided to research was Lee S. Ivey. She was great at making sculptures. She did oil painting and drawings as well. Her paintings were amazing. However, I’m more fascinated with her sculptures because they’re so different and they tell a story. She even have a piece called “Deaf President Now”, which is currently on display at Gallaudet University. Pieces like this really shows how she was part of the Deaf community, and how she saw the talent and aspirations of the community. I like the mysteriousness of her art and how it causes you to wonder what emotions she was feeling when she created the piece, and what the message was that she was trying to convey. All of her pieces seem to have some kind of message. For example,
This includes the muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, and the brain. As a biology major, I think this is very interesting, and I didn’t know that there was an artwork such as this type. I think in general, it’s helpful to see the different poses to get an idea of how the body works. It is certainly a controversial type of artwork, but the meaning is still there. It displays the human body in ways that normal people usually don’t think about.
Jeff Koons has made many different types of art and all of them are known to all the art world but These three are the main ones that was the talk about or create controversy. In 1985 stated by Rothkope Jeff Koons exhibition “equilibrium” came out. This exhibition was of equilibrium tanks with blue the Glass aquarium’s that held one or more basketball submerge in precise combination of distilled water and seawater that kept them suspended in the center of the tank. In a TV series called art 21 Jeff Koons talks about is “Banality” series. He stated
I am very fond of this work of art. The way every part of it is different and that there is no pattern and nothing is the same really intrudes me. The detail on each figure is incredibly real. The fact that someone did this in today’s world is also extremely interesting. By looking at this piece at first I thought for sure it was from the far past, when I found out it was not and that it was a newer piece I was
John Davis (16 September, 1936 – 17 October, 1999) was an Australian sculptor, renowned and celebrated as the pioneer of Environmental art, and as an Australian player in the modern art movement: Arte Povera. Arte Povera was an Italian artistic movement introduced in the 1960’s, a time of civil unrest, in which artists took to political radicalism, attacking the morale and value of the government and major industries, challenging whether art, as an expression of emotion and thought, could still fit and exist in our modern world.
Andrew Clemons the artist is well recognized by society's elite. "Capt. George M. Rising purchased the jar and presented it to General Lawler last Saturday afternoon, who, no doubt will treasure the miniature pontoon bridge, made of sand by the deaf and dumb artist boy, Andy Clemens, as one of the finest works which graces the sand in his study."(2) The Mark of a great artist is selling their art without intention. Andrew displays great qualities of a good artist. The twenty old Andrew Clemons success as an artist did not guarantee his livelihood. Andrew rejected two offers one made by the Smithsonian Institution to train him as a teacher. The other offer was from deaf salesman selling door-to-door tried to encourage Andrew to sell door-to-door
I enjoyed learning about them and looking at it. Prior to doing more research on them, I just thought their work wasn't art and just random things put up/built in places. Now that I know more about it, I am able to fully understand it and enjoy it better. I couldn't live with this in my house, it would take up too much space. Theoretically however, I think I would enjoy having this in my house. I t has a nice meaning behind it and it would be nice to see everyday. It is aesthetically successful in my opinion, it just works so well. I would say this art piece is a mix between formalism and Imitationalism. I believe both are what makes an artwork aesthetically successful. The whole thing, from how it was constructed to the meaning behind it, are the reasons why I think this piece is
Overall, what formally attracted me to this piece of art work would have been that it resembles The Last Supper. Not only does it resemble The Last Supper, but it does it in a humorous way. Although, it looks foolish at first, it has so many meanings behind it. Jim Denomie nationality is Indian. He said that in the Indian culture, to tell stories to kids about history we should learn from, they add humor to disguise the harshness. The cartoon caracteristics add that humor and foolishness, so that the harshness of the content is not to rash. I do personally like the true meaning behind this piece. Even at first glance you think this painting may be a joke of some sort. But doing more research on it, you relize the importants
To begin, I’ll be discussing question number one. Clearly, the artist Richard Caton Woodville had an “ambivalence regarding the war,” as Francis K. Pohl states
Try to imagine this… You are really skilled in something you enjoy, and doing that task is pleasing and makes you happy. Then one day you’re paralyzed and you have to remaster doing that certain skill. Chuck Close was an amazing artist who did just that. He does photorealism portraits, he also uses grid method for everything he did. Close had a very remarkable skill, that made him famous.
The two works of art that I have chosen to analyze are 1) Jordan Casteel. Miles and JoJo. 2014. Oil on canvas, 54” x 72” and 2) Aaron Fowler. He Was. 2015. Mixed media, 134” x 165” x 108”. The themes that these works of art represent in regards to the exhibit are love, family, and pain. However, they also fall into other thematic categories. The main theme that seems to apply to both “Miles and JoJo” and “He Was” is Human Experience. Additionally, these arts differ in some ways.
Jeffery “Jeff” Koons, born an American in York, Pennsylvania on January 21, 1955. As a teenager, Koons admired Salvador Dali’s art work so much that he would visit him in New York at the St. Regis Hotel. Later in his college years, Koons met artist Ed Paschke who became a major influence on him and helped be Paschke’s assistant in his art studio. Koons studied Painting at the School of Art Institute of Chicago and at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. He received a BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 1976. Koons works and lives in New York City.
This 1995 sneering sculpture sickens me every time I have a look at it. It is the most hateful modern artwork. I consider it as the most offensive, most detestable and pointless work of art I have come across. It’s not only provocative but also very stupid.
Ron Meuwick’s work of art is very intricate in detail on his sculpture and exhibits are almost like real, no matter what the size the sculpture be. His works shows emotion and sensation like what normal human should be. I like the way how it can connect to people especially the mother giving birth.
I summation, I think this piece is truly of note to art historians. Above, I have highlighted some reasons I think this is the case.
