“Just because something is beautiful doesn’t mean it’s good.” The two stories have many similarities two of which are, both of the fathers follow the orders of the beast by bringing their daughters to the beast. The other is, both of the curses could be broken by a girl confessing her love for the beast. The difference between the 2 stories is they both occur in different times. Beauty and the Beast is in medieval times and Beastly is in modern day. Beastly and Beauty and the Beastly both focus on true love, the inner self and choices. My first similarity was how both fathers followed the orders of the beast by bringing their daughters to him. The fathers knew the only way to keep their daughters safe was to let the beast have them. In
In the novel Freak The Mighty by Rodman Philbrick Max and Freak, two very different people, become friends over the course of the book solving many problems a long the way. Max and Kevin are both very similar but also quite different. They have similar problems in there life's but handle them differently. Such as there family problems and disabilities.
The Indian The Tale of Tulisa and the Disney film the Beauty and the Beast both consist of a beautiful woman who ends up in a relationship with a king who attributes characteristics of wild beasts. Although these two stories are from entirely different cultures, they both have strikingly high amounts of similarities as well as differences. One similarity that is apparent between the two works is the misogynistic view of women implied in each story, some blunt and some hidden within screenplay. For instance, in The Tale of Tulisa, Tulisa is not allowed to decide for herself if she can marry or not and in the Beauty and the Beast Gaston, the overly manly man, exemplifies his dominance over women repeatedly throughout the story. In addition to this, the two stories also exemplify congruence through the main woman character within each respective account breaking the curse that was upon the king. On the contrary to these similarities, the two tales differ in the way that the marriages occur; One resulting from an arranged marriage and one stemming from love.
What seems to be the most apparent similarity would be the connection between the man and the son with Abraham and Isaac. In a world of evil Abraham must decide whether or not to kill his own son as God told him to do. The same personal conflict is seen many times in the novel as the man questions whether or not he should “crush that beloved skull with a rock”(114). Also, Isaac asks his father about the truth, just like the boy asks the father about their current state and dying.
Seger states that in fairy tales "an old woman, a dwarf, a witch, or a wizard helps the hero . . . The hero achieves the goal because of this help, and because the hero is receptive to what this person has to give" (173). Conversely, Beast is helped by the very damsel he imprisons. Belle is a normal woman, not a witch or a wizard; she has no special powers and is not old or dwarfish in any way. Also, Beast is extremely reluctant to accept any help from her. In the Disney version of the story, Belle tries to teach Beast how to control his temper and be more compassionate and loving. Beast is not receptive at all to this help throughout the story, but still manages to defeat the curse left on him by a self revelation. He decides after Belle's departure from his castle to learn to love and be kindhearted. Although her help may have had an impact on his transformation, it was the mere presence of her and his own self conscience that ultimately helped him conquer his relentless curse. This is quite different from what Seger illustrates in her hero myth theory.
At first, the sisters in the two stories seem to have similar ways in ruining beauty’s development. Both the pairs of sisters are envious of their younger sister. You would almost think that the two older ones were twins from how alike they are. In Beaumont’s Beauty and the Beast, “the virtues of their younger sister had filled them with a good deal of envy” (Beaumont, 138). This is about the older sisters. The
How these two texts relate to each other in similarities is the setting in both pieces of text/movies are in mythical
The beast and witchcraft play an enormous role. If either of these images never happens, the whole story would have changed. They are similar to each other because these thoughts that everyone is having are deadly. People are killed just because of all the ideas running through their heads. Thoughts of either the beast
There are many different versions of Beauty and the Beast; It is a magical story of unconditional love. It teaches children that beauty is much more then skin deep. In this assignment I am to compare two, Beauty and the Beast stories; one by the renowned, famous Grimm Brothers as presented by Disney. The other called Beastly by the modern author Alex Flinn. The two versions have many similarities but still quite a few differences.
Another similarity would be the characters in both stories. They are faced with the hard reality as they come to find out they weren't living in
There’s not much similarity in the themes of these books except that in both books, God’s grace is plainly shown. That is about where the similarities end.
One similarity I find particularly interesting between these stories is the fact that both characters possess magical abilities, and
The story of the Beauty and the Beast is well known amongst all ages. Though the story they portray in the Disney version is much different than what they have portrayed it in France. La Belle et la Bête has been produced twice, once in 1946 and again in 2014. These two movies tell the same story but in very different ways. The perception of this story has changed between the different time periods.
Both Beasts are willing to do and give anything for beauty and the girl to keep them happy. Although Beast kept beauty hostage, he is gentleman enough to give her, her own space if she does not want anything to do with him: “you alone are mistress here; you need only bid me gone, if my presence is troublesome, and I will immediately withdraw” (LePrince de Beaumont 6). Beast being kind to Beauty is important because the goal is for her to want to stay with him forever. Since he shows compassion and
Another similarity between these two stories is that both of the characters have husbands who take
The first character to be discussed is Belle, in the original book. An author online even states “The original Beauty and the Beast Story is not what you expect” ( S. Paul). What is unique about Belle in the book is that she is the youngest of six children, which is never shown in the movie. Her father is not an inventor either, but is a very wealthy merchant who loses his fortune. The whole family in the original was forced to move to the country, where they had to live much more simple. Belle is a very special girl though, with very jealous older sisters of her beauty but also the fact that she is able to not be miserable in such a simple lifestyle.
