Becoming a better writer is crucial for my future success because in order to be a best hospitality manager or health care manager you should know how to write great responses to your customers or higher authority. If you do not have good writing skills there is no way that your company would be happy to have an employe with poor writing skills because writing and speaking are two important parts of your work you can not survive with poor writing and speaking skills in such professions because those professions are completely based on how you react to a customers problem and how politely take care of it while using a strong professional language which helps you to support your argument in every manner you want to. I do have a lot of family
Upon entering Columbia College, writing was one of my weaker areas. It was very important that I gained the necessary knowledge and confidence to become a better writer. I didn’t know how to express myself and felt as though my writing was not my interest. As a result of taking English 101, I have gained a better understanding on how to properly research and build a satisfactory paper. Every paper that was assigned seemed like a struggle to complete. Before entering this class, I did not know the meaning of a thesis or why it was important, however, I obtained this skill quickly. I noticed that every paper has an argument and the thesis helps clarify the rebuttal. Now, I have a new outlook on writing. It’s a way to express my thoughts and allow others to see things through my eyes. There is no doubt that I still have a long way to go, but I know if I continue to write, I will get better. Just as I developed more skills in class, the various papers assigned helped to better structure the writer in me. In addition, the subject areas were not only interesting, but very informative and made it much easier to write about my experiences.
A semester has passed since I started college and my journey of becoming a better writer. It has been a very important semester for my future college career, and I would not be here without the things I have accomplished. The composition program has really helped me to prepare for what college writing is all about. Now standing here and looking back I could not imagine how it would be without that class. I believe my English, and my writing is better than it has ever been, and all thanks to the composition program.
From writing thoughtful poems to research papers, I have experienced composing a diverse portfolio of literary analysis and criticisms throughout the school year. I started out the year writing minimally. By the end of the year, I noticed I was able to express my ideas and thoughts in a more clear and concise way on paper. Ultimately, each composition allowed me to widen my horizons as a writer and see how I could improve as a writer.
It may be the easiest thing to say that becuase I am from Spain, I should not be by any means a better writer than an American born student writer. In many aspects of life, I shouldn't, but as least as I like to compare myself to others, I may say that throughout my four years of English learning my growth has been exponential. Becoming a well rounded writer is arduous to achieve, however every writer including high school writers, usually have some skills within writing that they are good at. In my personal case, knowing that I didn't start writing until I was fourteen years old, I would say that I am pretty good at writing entertaining compositions, and in occasions, if my grammar is correct as well as being no run-ons, my essays can even
This portfolio is a great example of how I improved as a writer. This second semester of duel enrollment English has helped me improve not only on becoming a better writer but as well as becoming more mature as a person and has helped me with time management. This portfolio includes the three best pieces that I have written this whole year. I hope you enjoy these pieces as much as I enjoy them.
One of the biggest things people will face is being able to complete their work, rather than find excuses not to. I would hope this is not a dilemma many of us will face, especially since getting our graduate degree requires a lot of dedication. aPy takes time and developing a good writing habit also come along with time. As you alluded to writing a draft may be a good idea, this way you can have that first draft proofread for errors. I remember when I started writing I use to have my paper proofread by the most anal person ever and even though it was frustrate the amount of errors they found it helped improve my writing. Sometimes you may find a professor who is very meticulous about how they want a paper presented and the also can
My entire life, reading and writing have always been my weaknesses. Coming from a Hispanic household, the way things are said and written does not usually translate the same way to English. As much as I have always tried to push myself and keep improving, I feel like I have reached a point where I need a small push and guidance to take my writing to the next level. From my high school, I learned a lot of writing technics and have some small grammar lectures every now and then. Writing my research papers, preparing speeches, and all the college essays have given me lots of practice with different writing styles and methods. Yet, I still have not found one that I feel the most confident in. This semester, I truly wish to improve the transitions
My main goal for the year was to improve my writing and I do believe I have accomplished that. I am especially proud of how my introduction and conclusion paragraphs have improved. I never knew where to begin with those, but now I feel much more confident when I sit down to write those parts of my essay. I also feel like I did improve on grammar, which is my weakest part of writing an essay. I still have a lot I can improve on in all aspects of my writing, but I am very thankful for this class and the feedback I have received on all my papers. I would like to wish the rest of you good luck on your finals and I hope you all have a great
How often do I spend time writing? I spend very little time writing because I lack interest in and would rather text or call when communicating with others. Personally, I probably write only a few times a week which consists of writing notes to my parents if need be. I make use of the technology in which I am given since it’s available and reliable for me to use rather than writing notes. Technology and texting has ruined my writing style and ability to write in a professional manner since I use slang and abbreviations almost every day. My plan and goal is to learn how to properly write at a college level by the end of this semester.
In this paragraph I will be sharing my writing skills I have improved on throughout my first semester and goals I will be setting to keep on improving in my writing. For my past prompts and essays I have typed were great because I was slowly but surely improving on my writing. One this that for sure helped me on my prompt and pieces of writing was a site called Paper Rater. Paper Rater very much helped me on these writing pieces because it helped me on my Spelling, Grammar, Word Choice, Style, and Vocabulary Words. In Paper Rater it scores you either a A, B, C, D, OR F depending on how bright-eyed your writing came to be. In my writing piece makings, existents I have improved on would be my Vocabulary, Word Choice and Grammar. I have improved
To be a great writer you need to be infamous through your own self doubt. The ability to evaluate your own essay and be able to give more details on your ideas. To be able to identify where you made a mistake on your writing. There’s no one in the world that's a perfect writer. Every author make mistake while writing but they always revise their writing about more than three to four times to make it better.
Fear struck through my body like lightning instantaneously as I entered the classroom. Luckily, there were barely any students present in the classroom when I appeared. Cautiously, I walked towards the front of the classroom and sat at one of the front desks. Of course, we did introductions and this was frightening to say the least. At first I thought the class would be boring, but I was wrong. Eventually when we received our chromebooks, I was able to test my writing ability. In effect, I soon discovered my poor writing skills and I was afraid of flunking that class.
To become a better writer, you must learn the importance of writing as communication. For this purpose, you must have a reason to write. For example your boss might asked you to write something very specific, whether this is taking notes of a conversation in a meeting, or preparing a report. Although, you might not be a good writer, you can work on becoming a good writer. First, you want to stay clear, simple, short, and concise. Even though there are many words to use, do not use too many big words, or overused clichés. To be more effective you have to have structure, to give clarity for your audience. Second, it is important that you keep an active voice. It is easier for your audience to understand. However, passive voice can be difficult,
Looking back on this English class, I have realized that how much my writing has improved since the beginning of the class. I went from being a writer that was not so confident in writing paragraphs to the writer who can do the fair job in paragraph writing. The fact that I am feeling so accomplished about, I was able to write all my thoughts in the paragraph. The first learning outcome is to watch out for my grammar mistakes in paragraphs. For example, the use of an article like 'a,' 'an' and 'the' in the sentence formation. The other example is how to use proper tense in the sentence. The new skills I developed that, I will always proofread my work so I can catch my grammar mistakes. The second learning outcome is how to structure my paragraph
