Who I am today As a one grows up, you can’t help it but dream of becoming the craziest things. I saw myself becoming a lot of things in life. Although, I was never able to stick to one thing and kept going with it. I was always changing my mind up about what I wanted to be in life, what I saw myself as an adult. I wasn’t the smartest in school but I my grades always spoke for themselves and I always tended to learn from my experiences and others peoples as well. I thought about becoming a law enforcement officer, to becoming a great chef and tasting foods from all around the world. I guess I wanted to become those things because I loved watching them on T.V. and sort of saw cooking more as a hobby then a profession. Unfortunately it wasn’t
When I was a little girl, I would always dream of being those famous celebrities on television. But I did not grew a desire for that. As I grew more and experience more things in life, I start having a desire of being a pediatrician. I also have a desire to travel the world and live in Atlanta for the rest of my life.
Police officers have been in the news and spot light a lot lately for how they have had some sort of misconduct on how they reacted in a certain situation. Which made me wonder if police officers go through enough physical and educational training and if we need to raise the minimum requirements? I think police officers go through a lot of educational training before they even get to be on duty. Before even getting hired as a police officer you go through a lot of interviews that will get you kicked out of the program if you answer wrong. Even though they would be more educated, could handle situations better, and not be in the news so much for misconducted, police officers go through enough training with their police academy we shouldn’t change the requirements
When I was a little girl I always wanted to be like my mom when I grew up. My mom was a neonatal nurse, she always tells me story about when she worked in the hospital. She would bring home pictures of the babies that she worked with and talk to me about how much of a blessing a baby is to the world. From these stories I told myself that I wanted to be a nurse just like her. As I got older I did not want to follow the footsteps of my mom I want to do something that nobody in my family wants to do for example: being a firefighter, teacher, fashion designer, engineer, and a medical professional.
The general requirements to be a police officer are to be at least 21 years of age at the time of application as for education you must have a two-year associate's degree, or minimum of 60 accredited college credit hours or any equivalent amount of active, full-time military experience. Police jobs require experience such as two years of work and/or life experience that is directly relating to a combination of skills such as a stable work history, valid driver license and a clean driving record. Having certain skills for this job is very important you need to be able to multi-task you also need to have the ability to use good judgment and need to be able to problem solve. It is necessary to have these skills because you need to be able to use the computer to look up peoples information as you are driving and you also need to be able to problem solve because you never know what a suspect can do you so you will need to think of ways to keep the situation under control and keep the public safe.
When I was little I constantly thought about what I wanted to be when I grew up. Like most kids, I thought of the most unrealistic career paths such as: celebrity, singer, or model. However, I did consider some more realistic careers such as: vet, teacher, and interior designer. While I did not ultimately choose any of these options, I am extremely confident in the profession I am working towards. I one day am hoping to be an Occupational Therapist.
My family can afford to give my two siblings and me an in-state, post-secondary education, giving me a head start in my career.
Higher education has become more valuable in many occupations and careers. Law enforcement is one of them, even though it is a slow transition from not requiring college education. Some of the requirements for a law enforcement officer is to have advanced writing skills, think critically, work in a high-pressure environment, and effectively communicate with citizens that they are protecting and serving. These skills can be learned on a job through training and experience, but they are also thought in college through homework, exercises, communication with other students, and required reading material by professors. When hiring college graduates with a four-year degree, they already possess many of the qualities and attributes that are highly
The purpose of law enforcement is to protect the lives and property of both the community’s citizens and people who visit and work in the community. There are many different levels of law enforcement careers such as local, state and federal agencies. There are also many different occupations within the law enforcement field. One of those occupations is a police officer. (10 Things You Need to Consider Before Becoming a Police Officer, Criminology Careers.com, August 2012, Timothy Roufa, Criminology Careers Expert). To become a police officer it takes more than just wanting to carry a gun and “catch the bad guys”. The hiring process will be long. After submitting an application, each candidate must go through a written test, a physical agility test, an oral interview or two, a “background” check of nearly every aspect of his life, including driving records, drug or alcohol usage, a thorough medical and psychological exam, and a polygraph test. Then after that, each candidate must go through an exhausting physical and mental challenge known as the Police Academy. If the candidates make it through the Police Academy then they advance to on-the-job training known as Field Training, which is even more difficult than the Police Academy. After all of this training and becoming a police officer, one would have to ask themselves if the job is worth it. Police officers are put into dangerous situations daily. After all they have to deal with drunks, the mentally disabled
I have wanted to work in law enforcement for a long time. I have studied the skills necessary to work in this field.
I agree education is something that will be a necessity within law enforcement. The growth of technology has changed the playing field for law enforcement and the pass requirement for a police officer to just depend of their street smarts in not enough. The new era police officer is required to not only be street smart, but also book smart. That combination strengthens law enforcement position, especially with the expansion of technology.
If you currently are or will be considering becoming a law enforcement officer you will hopefully find the following information useful. I will be conveying to you not only the importance of professional appearance and means you can use to be more efficient at presenting such an appearance. While representing a state, city or county a less than professional image as an officer is not acceptable. As a public servant an officer’s appearance is the public’s first impression of who you are and what you represent or stand for. Not caring about your own appearance as a professional may lead some to assume you do not care about your job. We will discuss the reasons an officer should take extra pride in their appearance as well as steps to take that will assist in achieving a more professional appearance. Hopefully you will consider the advice given to you and make yourself a more professional looking officer or officer to be.
Knowing myself and my views as a law enforcement officer this unit would have been disbanded with the first incident. Having been exposed in my military career and law enforcement career I have been instilled with moral and ethical beliefs. The public depends on me whether it be in the streets or overseas they expect me to do the right this at all time and I don’t want to fail them. I take my career very seriously and I would not risk the reward of just a few dollars to hinder my retirement and reputation. There have been many instances while on patrol responding to calls that I arrest nervous drug and gun offenders. The men and women that I arrested would plea to give me money a large amount in which they had in their pockets to just let them go or charge them with a lesser offense. Never would it cross my mind to do this, of course a few thousand dollars in front of
I’m interested in the law enforcement career path, and there are a lot of different paths you could take in this career choice. This career got my attention mainly because, I find solving mysteries and crimes very intriguing. The origin of this occupation came in during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, coming into America from England. “Generally speaking, the constable became responsible for law enforcement in the towns, while the sheriff took responsibility for the counties” (Stinchcomb 3). The educational requirements for this occupation at a minimum are as high school diploma or GED. Our high school provides us with a forensics class you can take your senior year, and we have an athletics department that you could join anytime
Law enforcement like much of the economy and society has had to adapt to the rapidly changing Atmosphere of the technological advances. To counter these advances, education has served in the forefront to combating the technological sophistication that is rapidly sweeping the workforce. The need and desire to remain competitive with the technology that we have is a need that can be satisfied with more education. Much like technology, education has benefits elsewhere in the equation of remaining competitive. Education on the higher tiered level provides a professionalism to accompany by the demands placed on students during their scholastic years of study. Activities required by many professors in the higher education
I've never had a more serious passion for anything but Law Enforcement in my life. I've studied Criminal Law and Law Enforcement for almost three years now and I feel that CG allows me to show it. By practicing my knowledge gained from college on here, I can also gain perhaps even more new knowledge by utilizing proper role-play alongside others. Dwelling on the fact that I'm no longer on the force really irks me due to the fact that I'm usually active and the time that I go away for a few days without checking the forums, I miss roll call. I know the only person to blame is myself, therefore I do take responsibility for my actions as I've always done. I already miss the fulfilling feeling of being on duty and doing what I love, keeping the
