Becoming A Medical Assistant

I am pursuing a Medical Assistant Associate in Applied Science degree. I choose this major because the field of work I want to be in is more hands on. I want to be in the action, where I can be doing multiple things and always be on the move. My career goals are to graduate from Berkeley College, move on to my internship, then choose a facility to work at. As I am working as a medical assistant (MA), I would like to continue my career and go back to school, and become a registered nurse (RN). My goals are to get certified as Certified Nursing Assistant, then get certified as a Medical Assistant while I pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Biology. Afterwards, I will enter graduate school to specialize in cardiology and become a cardiac physician. I figured becoming a certified nursing assistant then a medical assistant will give me a closer feel to doing what I love besides shadowing doctors and nurses as I already do.

The medical profession I’ve recently decided to pursue was a certified medical assistant. You will need some type of plan before you decide to pursue in anything. It could be as simple as writing down your short and long term goals on a piece of paper .In my case, I always have something that motivates me because that will help me stay focused on achieving my goals. My motivation is knowing I will wake up to something I love doing on a daily basis once I get my career started. There are a few steps I will need to take to achieve my goal in becoming a medical assistant.

While writing about oneself might be one of the hardest things for some of us to do, I'm sure that figuring out the personality of the person behind the words might be equally as hard. So I'll try to make this as simple yet as comprehensive as possible. I was born in Austria to Somali parents and grew up in Saudi Arabia, went to med school in Sudan and am finally here to practice medicine in Canada. Becoming a medical assistant is a good choice as a career. This career is continuing to grow a lot. A medical assistant is an enjoyable job, even though it can be difficult at sometimes people still enjoy the job. They mainly stay busy during the day because a lot of patients come in.

Twelve hospital stays, nine surgeries, and fourteen years later, you would think this patient and his family would have had enough hospital stays for a lifetime. He grew up with type I diabetes, which later put stress on his kidneys causing them to fail. He desperately needed a kidney transplant. The patient is my dad and I was just the little girl in the hospital room watching it all.

Even though the medical profession seems to be swamped with choices, you will find it difficult to select one good option for your needs when you actually need to choose one. It means that you need to pre-plan and take appropriate action accordingly that will help you in becoming a successful medical professional.

What is a CMA? Before investing time and money to become a physician's assistants you need to ask yourself is this really the career for me? Do i have what it takes to succeed in my career choice? There are a few traits i believe all physicians assistants need to have. The first thing anyone in the medical field needs to have is to be compassionate towards helping people in need. Being a physician's assistant is all about diagnosing treating and helping people when needed. While doing this you must have good people skills to interact and to get patients to open up to you easier. The medical assistant should prepare the child by letting them know what is about to take place. This can help to emphasize that it might hurt for a few seconds but the pain will go away quickly. The medical assistant can engage with the child and make the feel like a partner in the procedure. An example of this would be, making the child feel like they are a big boy or a big girl buy given them the option of helping through the procedure with their cooperation. Sometimes it can be a simplified explanation, such as “keeping you from getting sick”, may possible be enough to gain and older child’s compliance. The medical assistant may be able to use a distraction such as quiets voices, songs, pacifiers or bottles.

My search in becoming medical assistant has me wanting to move forward with the career choice that I have selected. According to the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics medical assistant are high in demand. The four reasons why I am choosing this career path is because I feel like I can really make in difference in someone life by helping others, meeting people, the job is rewarding and has great job prospects. A medical assistant salary when it comes to the education and training and after earning a certificate from a medical assisting program graduates earn an average of $30,000 a year. When UD partnered with Texas Woman’s University to create a duel-degree program in Nursing, it was what I was looking for. I was able to study the liberal arts, study aboard in Italy, and still follow my passion to become a nurse. While at UD, I had the opportunity to serve as a biology department tutor as well as and lab assistant in the anatomy and physiology labs, which gave me valuable research experience. Working with Dr. Stephen Slaughter on exercise physiology and injury prevention lead to the opportunity to be part of an exhibit in the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, TX. The experience of working on research and seeing it become part of a permanent exhibit hall was not only rewarding, it fueled my love for learning and discovery.
