I am currently a senior at Santa Ana Valley High School. I am planning to further my education and obtain a degree. I am certain I want to be in the medical field; I have in the medical academy for three years here at Valley and I’ve never experienced anything more amazing. Most of my classes were honor classes and a couple were AP, Advanced Placement, throughout my high school years. I specifically wish to become a Pediatrician, the love and patience I have for children is insane. I love helping kids and working with them. Because of my medical class, I can become a medical assistant right after high school, but I really want to get a college degree and follow my dad’s steps. My dad is the only one that works and provides for us financially.

In my time volunteering at the hospital, I hope to gain many different experiences. However, there are a few main ones: adaptation through enrichment and dependability. First of all, I want to get to know and adapt to the environment of the hospital and learn how different processes work. This is a crucial part of being in the atmosphere of a clinic. Also, the experiences that I will have at the hospital will help me to understand the routines and entailments of the career I would like to pursue. I hope to become a Physician’s Assistant in the future and this will be the best way to know if it is the right position for me. This enrichment of my understanding will help guide my passion for this career path and hopefully strengthen it.

The application involved an essay, teacher recommendations, transcripts and SAT scores. On Mondays and Wednesdays, I go to a school of health sciences and learn Anatomy and Physiology, on Tuesday and Thursday I attend Penn State Berks, and go to a chemistry lab and chemistry lecture. Then on Friday, I shadow different units of the hospital. My favorite rotation is the surgical unit, I think this could potentially be the area I specialize.
