Now and then walking through the store I have seen a parent do something and suddenly I think how dangerous, annoying, or abusive. I would think they should not be a parent and I would have never done something like that and there should be a law against what they are doing. Licenses are used in our everyday lives, we need a license to drive, hunt, and serve liquor. Having children is not always a well thought out decision. Parenting might as well be considered one of today's most challenging and demanding jobs. Considering how important the job of being a parent is, you should be required to obtain a license to become a parent.
Children often grow up in homes where they tend to be neglected and abused. These children have to suffer through

At one point in the book we see the mother Rosemary neglect the children and show selfishness. Rosemary hides inside the bathroom and eats food she had hidden from her family. The children were starving at this time. “Mom started crying. “I can’t help it,” she sobbed. “I’m a sugar addict just like your father is an alcoholic.” “She told us we should forgive her the same way we forgave father for his drinking”(Walls 174). While all the kids in the Walls family are literally starving picking food out of the trash cans to fulfill their starvation, the mom has been indulging on chocolate and other she has been hiding from her children. This is heart breaking for the kids to have to go through because it shows the reality of how they really do have to take care of themselves most of the time. At this point in the book the children realize that both of their parents are selfish and neglect the fact they have any …show more content…
It should matter if you are emotionally and financially ready to become a parent. The inability to parent results from the parents own addictions, personalities, and life events. “When Dad went crazy, we all had our own way of shutting down and closing off, and that is what we all did that night” (Walls 115). In this part of the story it is around Christmas time. You can tell Jeanette is really excited that it is Christmas time. Her mother wanted to make it seem as traditional as possible so the family went to Christmas mass at church. That day Jeanette’s father starts to drink early on in the day and got drunk. During mass he end up shouting vulgar things and gets the family kicked out of church. Alcoholics like Rex may not realize that they are treating their family in an unfair manner. Due to the way a parent choose to live their life. Children may develop low self-esteem, loneliness, and fear of abandonment just like Jeanette
It might be difficult to accept but every child can be hurt, put at risk or harm or abused, regardless of their age, gender, religion or ethnicity.
Children should not have to grow up feeling unwanted, unloved, and alone. Children are meant to be loved, cherished, and cared for. It is truly heartbreaking when I see children who are suffering emotionally and physically. A lot of children are victims of abuse, neglect, and some are victims of circumstances. I was able to see children in this situations the first time I visited the Child Crisis Center. It was a mid-September evening, when I first walked into the local Child Crisis Center. I was greeted by a lady at the front door. I signed in then she led me to a back room. When I entered the room I saw approximately fifteen children. The ages ranged from infants to six years old. Some children were playing, others were eating, and some were
After becoming more familiar with maltreatment and the effect it can cause on children, it is depressing to think about all of the children who have suffered or are suffering from abuse. As a society we are so sheltered from the idea of child abuse. People often ignore the fact that child abuse is happening every day. Children who suffer from child abuse that live with long-term effects are picked on and simply judged because they are different than what our society sees as a perfect person. It is not fare to children to be victims of child abuse. They are too young to physically fight back. It is sickening to know that there are people out there that physically abuse their children or family.
Different parenting styles, which include: permissive, uninvolved, authoritarian and authoritative, have different effects on children’s development and their future success and outcomes. Many parents do not realize how crucial parenting styles are on their child’s development and future. Some parents tend to seek alternative methods such as listening to music, and staying active during pregnancy in efforts of changing their child’s development and intelligence. However, after birth and during adolescence are the times when parents play a huge and crucial role in shaping their child’s development and intelligence. According to Turner, Chandler, and Heffer (2009), parenting styles have consistently been related to youth psychopathology, behavior
A parenting coach can help parents learn to deal with those situations that life has a tendency to throw their way at any time. If a person is struggling with control over their child, there is usually an underlying reason for it. It could be the child is bullied at school or it could be a medical condition causing the conflict.
School admission may require parents to appear for a face-to-face interview along with the child. The purpose behind it is to get an insightful account of strengths and weaknesses of their children. Since parents are well aware about the traits of their children, they can provide useful information that can help the teachers. So having a prior idea of the child and its abilities can help parents in answering.
I didn't realize how hard parenting could be. So many times it's the hard part that teaches the greatest lesson. Or at least that is what I choose to believe or I am not sure I will make it out alive....
"Tens of thousands of children each year are traumatized by physical, sexual, and emotional abusers or by caregivers who neglect them, making child abuse as common as it is shocking."
Parenting is one of the most important, demanding, and rewarding job that one can have; however, when it comes to occupational hazards, I think that parenting by far is the most difficult. There are so many outside influences that will interfere with parenting in comparison to any other job. For instance, the loss of a job, relationship problems, illness, death, poverty, social and economic status, cultural differences are all factors when it comes to parenting. I believe that I set a good example for my children by maintaining my standards and quality of parenting throughout. I have parented consistently through divorce, death, and financial hardship. My children have been through many struggles throughout their lives, but they know

It's just another busy day in a typical North American home at around five o'clock in the afternoon and mom is walking in the door after a long day at work and sees her two teenagers and pre-teenager sitting around watching a movie on the couch. There are dishes all over the kitchen table, empty chip bags on the living room table and their school bags are all just dropped at the front door. Mom is either used to it, in denial of it or she is about to blow. In any case this is not a scenario that will have a happy ending no matter what you choose to do for discipline. I mean, I know this wouldn't happen in your house but if it did you would have to put your foot down, right?

I am a single mother of three wonderful children one girl and two boys. I have recently experienced to major loss in my life that has made me take a different outlook on life. I lost my mother who was a very instrumental part of my life, and a month ago buried the last mother figure I had my maternal grandmother. But I made them both a promise I would continue on a positive path and go back and get my degree. I've always had it in mind and heart I would go back one day and there is no greater time like the present. I want my kids to look at me and be proud to call me their mother. It takes a leader to raise children. It takes a responsible person to watch children. It takes a compassionate person to care for children. In the end it is only a matter of common sense, how can someone do their work to the best of their ability using the resources available and then still have someone view them as a substandard parent.
