Becoming a Radiologist To become a radiologist, there are certain job tasks, special skills, and talents, as well as a higher education that is needed. A radiologist depends upon many special skills and talents. Some of them compose of writing, active listening, critical thinking, reading comprehension, judgement and decision making, speaking, deductive reasoning, near vision, and many more skills in which I believe I have most of. Special skills are very necessary, although are some other components including education. Education is essential to becoming a radiologist. First, high school classes are a must. In grade 9, I will have to take Algebra 1, which I am already taking this year, so I will be ahead one year and move onto Geometry. For science, i will have to take biology and science 1. For my social studies classes, I will have to take state history and civics, and also health for career and technical. My 10th grade year, I will have to take either geometry or algebra II, chemistry, health, and science II. For 11th grade, I will take physics, sociology, health, and science III. Finally, for my 12th grade year, I will take anatomy and physiology, economics, health, and science IV. After highschool, I will need to complete a 4 year bachelor's degree. Some college programs that will be helpful are health and medical physics, medicine, and premedical studies. Following that, I will go to medical school, which takes 4 years to complete, that comes with a general medical education. At the end of my medical schooling, I will become a Doctor of Medicine (MD). But before I can become a radiologist, I need to complete on-the-job training in a medical setting. First, 1 year internship for a general field in internal medicine. Then 4 years residency for practice on radiology. Then to finally become a board certified radiologist, I will need to pass exams set by (ABR) and achieve a licence from the state where I will be working.
