After I graduate I plan on attending National Park College for their RN to BSN degree program. My name is Gabriela, also known as Gaby. I'm majoring in the medical field to become a labor and delivery nurse. Sociology is one of the pre-requisites for my major. Nursing and sociology relate to each other in certain ways. For example, a nurse must have knowledge of a patient's background and behavior to better understand their needs. As far as I know, sociology not only focuses on an individual's culture but also social groups and class systems. One of the most interesting topics I hope to learn from this class is, nature vs nurture and how that relates to introverts or extroverts personalities.

As a Wilmington resident of seventeen years, my choice to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington is ‘without a shadow of a doubt’ an easy one. In eighth grade, I began to seriously decipher through colleges, and attempted to decide which one was meant for me. UNCW wasn’t initially my first choice, but as I got older, matured, did extensive research, and with my college years growing nearer, it became very evident that it was where I needed to be.

Sociology studies the norms and values of these things and it studies how these things are dealt with and what the norms are in a health and social care setting, and how as a healthcare professional you should act.

As a LPN I plan on working in long term care to spend time passing meds and being able to do assessments, or work at madigan hospital in hopes to be able to work in acute care until I get into RN school. I plan on working full time in whatever area I get a job in, most jobs offer classes to keep you up to date on what is best and safe practice. I plan to attend classes and seminars as provided to try and keep myself as sharp as possible in hopes to keep myself as sharp as possible for the safety of my patients and when the time comes for me to start school to be a registered nurse. I plan to take part in CEU’s. I plan to take classes to manage my 45 hours of continued education yearly I would like to take classes on medication administration

Saving lives matters. You do not have to be a Doctor or a Police officer to save a person life. Being a Nurse has greater or equal value in saving someone life. A registered nurse or RN is a person who has graduated with a nursing degree from an accredited college or university, has passed the state board examination and is licensed to practice nursing. It is very important for a person who wants to become a nurse to research the pros and cons of the different areas of nursing. Gender is a big role in nursing, especially when a specific area of interest is chosen by the individual. For instance, women are gentle so they will probably do well with caring for the babies. While the men are physically strong, they are needed in the physical therapy area to help with lifting patients. Being a nurse you must have patience, customer service, being independence, and honesty. I believe that being a nurse will not be an easy task. Becoming a nurse takes hard work and dedication. Being a nurse may be an accomplishment for those that enjoy helping others. It also has great pay and benefits and offers a secure job for a career.

I’m positive there are many ways to move ourselves into a situation where we have more security in our lives. Although doing something different and trying new method is sometimes uncomfortably frightening for many people, if we stretch ourselves out from our comfort zone and willing to take risks to grow, there is always room for improvements. For instance, I want to become a skillful and a successful registered nurse who can make a difference in people’s life by giving the best possible care for my patients. I understand this isn’t an easy task and require a lot of consequences and sacrifices that I have to make n my life. Nonetheless, I strongly believe there’s nothing worth having comes easy. There are many majors out there and tons to choose from. Many students in high school by now have an idea on what they’re interested on becoming. So far, I have no clue on what I want to study, but I do have a picture of it. Choosing a career is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make in your life. Because of that you have to choose very carefully and make sure whatever you choose will suite you. Whether it’s from engineering or going into the medical field, they all take time. Here I have chosen 5 careers that I myself am very interested on studying after high school.

Becoming a registered nurse will take a long journey to finish if you found handling money and maintaing good grades in high school too be difficult. You can start by getting into a community college where one can have a second chance, and then be able to transfer to a university, or Cal State, where one will finish nurse school. Throughout the time you are keeping your grades and performance high, your mind can already conceive ways to opening more doors and the opportunities to be able to accomplish the desires you have for the near future. I envision myself getting into a community college , and then transfer my way to a private university where it gives me the opportunity of becoming a successful registered nurse. This is the option I decided to take because I also share the same difficulties that other students have with high school, and lack of money today. Before the age of eighteen, I had lived in three countries. My father’s career as a doctor and scientist of Military, Disaster & Extreme Medicine took my family throughout Kazakhstan, Russia, and the Ukraine. Although it was a challenge for me to continually adapt to new places and learn three languages, I am grateful for the cultural exposure that traveling provided me. In every new environment I was raised to treat others with equal respect and kindness regardless of any differences or similarities we may have had. This exposure has taught me that successful acclimation lies in the ability to interact well with people from diverse backgrounds. Here, in a country of immigrants, I have met people from countries all around the world. The Nursing field provides me the opportunity to help all people regardless of age, sex or ethnicity. I seek a Nursing degree here in the United States in order to increase my knowledge and to be able to practice in the field of professional nursing. My goal of becoming a Registered Nurse has long been encouraged by my personal interest in the profession and by my experience, previous education and achievements. These factors continue to motivate and inspire my desire to seek this degree and become a healthcare professional.

Sociology is in our everyday lives, we are surrounded by this in everything we do, and it is the understanding of yourself within the setting of your cultural circumstances (Newman, 2013). For this discussion post, I will be discussing whether or not nurses should study sociology. Sociology is the study of social relationship, development and function of human society. Throughout the course of sociology you can lean many things about your society and even your self. Sociology will change the way you look at life and might be able to reflect on future designs or ideas. When enrolling in sociology you will be able to have a set of skills to see sociology, have the knowledge of sociology, and have values of sociology. By having skills, knowledge, and values you will be able understand the world and see how many social problems people have all over.
