As a LPN I plan on working in long term care to spend time passing meds and being able to do assessments, or work at madigan hospital in hopes to be able to work in acute care until I get into RN school. I plan on working full time in whatever area I get a job in, most jobs offer classes to keep you up to date on what is best and safe practice. I plan to attend classes and seminars as provided to try and keep myself as sharp as possible in hopes to keep myself as sharp as possible for the safety of my patients and when the time comes for me to start school to be a registered nurse. I plan to take part in CEU’s. I plan to take classes to manage my 45 hours of continued education yearly I would like to take classes on medication administration
After I graduate I plan on attending National Park College for their RN to BSN degree program. I wish to do that and gain some field experience before I go back to school to become a Nurse Practitioner. Becoming a Nurse Practitioner has always been a dream of mine and each day I get closer. To stay close to home to attend National Park for the first part of my goals is a definite plus. My end goal is definitely to be a Nurse Practitioner but to also have job security and stability because they do make very good money. I come from a struggling, middle class family with hardworking parents and to be able to provide for them one day as they have done for me is also a future goal of
If you plan on taking a career of becoming a registered nurse here's what you need to know, registered nurses provide care for patients with so many different medical conditions. Nursing provides both professional career path as well as personal satisfaction that comes from giving healthcare services. As one of the fastest growing careers in the United states with large increase in the healthcare facilities throughout the country the demand of registered nurses is extremely high.
On the weekend of March 11 and 12, I had the pleasure of being assigned to GJW, a 72 year old, female patient in room 41. She is a retired nurse and when I was assigned to her, she had been in the hospital for 11 days. Her concurrent health challenges include rheumatoid arthritis, obstructive sleep apnea, chronic lower back pain, chronic anemia, type II diabetes mellitus, coronary artery disease, hypertension, fibromyalgia, obesity, gastroesophageal reflux disease and dilated ascending aorta. The patient’s code status is a full code and her allergies include butazoiodine, naproxen, nalfon, chloropromozine. The reason for her admission to the orthopedic surgical ward was to do a revision of her left ankle replacement that was done last year
As a Wilmington resident of seventeen years, my choice to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington is ‘without a shadow of a doubt’ an easy one. In eighth grade, I began to seriously decipher through colleges, and attempted to decide which one was meant for me. UNCW wasn’t initially my first choice, but as I got older, matured, did extensive research, and with my college years growing nearer, it became very evident that it was where I needed to be.
Registered nursing licenses can be obtained in two different ways, attending a technical school/community college or a university, with financial assistance being provided by specific scholarships. When pursuing the occupation of a RN, one can choose to enter career colleges/two year colleges, such as Bryant and Stratton, John Tyler Community College, and Southside Virginia Community College. However, the downside of this path is, only the RN license is received, not in combination with a BSN, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, that many employers now require. Others decide to attend a four year university that specializes in nursing, such as Longwood University, Virginia Commonwealth University, or the University of Virginia. Nursing program
Saving lives matters. You do not have to be a Doctor or a Police officer to save a person life. Being a Nurse has greater or equal value in saving someone life. A registered nurse or RN is a person who has graduated with a nursing degree from an accredited college or university, has passed the state board examination and is licensed to practice nursing. It is very important for a person who wants to become a nurse to research the pros and cons of the different areas of nursing. Gender is a big role in nursing, especially when a specific area of interest is chosen by the individual. For instance, women are gentle so they will probably do well with caring for the babies. While the men are physically strong, they are needed in the physical therapy area to help with lifting patients. Being a nurse you must have patience, customer service, being independence, and honesty. I believe that being a nurse will not be an easy task. Becoming a nurse takes hard work and dedication. Being a nurse may be an accomplishment for those that enjoy helping others. It also has great pay and benefits and offers a secure job for a career.
I’m positive there are many ways to move ourselves into a situation where we have more security in our lives. Although doing something different and trying new method is sometimes uncomfortably frightening for many people, if we stretch ourselves out from our comfort zone and willing to take risks to grow, there is always room for improvements. For instance, I want to become a skillful and a successful registered nurse who can make a difference in people’s life by giving the best possible care for my patients. I understand this isn’t an easy task and require a lot of consequences and sacrifices that I have to make n my life. Nonetheless, I strongly believe there’s nothing worth having comes easy. Additionally, people need to enhance their skills
This course is something that will be very important for my career as a Registered Nurse. I plan to try my hardest and do my very best in this course. By the end of the course I expect to be able to properly communicate using medical terminology. The only experience I have with medical terminology is an anatomy class I took in high school. I retained the information well and I still remember most of the words I learned in that class, because I knew they would be important to know later on.
I plan to become a Registered Nurse. As a nurse it is important to understand the patient completely and know where they come from. In sociology people are described in a "group" or "communtiy" perspective. Understand the many different varieties of people in society and fully understanding the meaning of "Sociology" will benefit nurses in not only one way but many. In the medical field there will be many ethical questions which can be partially covered via the study of sociology. Taking this sociology class will allow me to relate to my patients, co-workers, and the different varieties of families that I would be encountering. Sociology will allow me to have a better understanding of how to deal with any type of person in the best proper
The success as a professional Registered Nurse (RN) requires hard work, compassion and empathy. It is important to realize the journey is challenging, but is fulfilling. The registered nurse profession was established in the 1800s. For over two hundred years a registered nurse has helped those in need. The responsibilities of nurses is to educate their patients on many types of diseases as well as provide guidance to patients and their loved ones. It is important for nurses to express compassion, emotional stability, and empathy for patients.
Becoming a registered nurse will take a long journey to finish if you found handling money and maintaing good grades in high school too be difficult. You can start by getting into a community college where one can have a second chance, and then be able to transfer to a university, or Cal State, where one will finish nurse school. Throughout the time you are keeping your grades and performance high, your mind can already conceive ways to opening more doors and the opportunities to be able to accomplish the desires you have for the near future. I envision myself getting into a community college , and then transfer my way to a private university where it gives me the opportunity of becoming a successful registered nurse. This is the option I decided to take because I also share the same difficulties that other students have with high school, and lack of money today. It takes every small achievement to grow to be one big success.
Although I am not a nurse I have some experience with this topic in real life. A registered nurse I worked with who was getting an advanced degree in nursing showed me her thesis. It was about unions and nurses going on strike. Overall, the nurse was in favor of the strikes but noted that she was troubled because although unions offered nurses protection and helped improve working conditions it made hospitals hire nurses, not in the union. The union guarantees nurses a salary and can negotiate for other benefits which is a large cost for hospitals.
Before the age of eighteen, I had lived in three countries. My father’s career as a doctor and scientist of Military, Disaster & Extreme Medicine took my family throughout Kazakhstan, Russia, and the Ukraine. Although it was a challenge for me to continually adapt to new places and learn three languages, I am grateful for the cultural exposure that traveling provided me. In every new environment I was raised to treat others with equal respect and kindness regardless of any differences or similarities we may have had. This exposure has taught me that successful acclimation lies in the ability to interact well with people from diverse backgrounds. Here, in a country of immigrants, I have met people from countries all around the world. The Nursing field provides me the opportunity to help all people regardless of age, sex or ethnicity. I seek a Nursing degree here in the United States in order to increase my knowledge and to be able to practice in the field of professional nursing. My goal of becoming a Registered Nurse has long been encouraged by my personal interest in the profession and by my experience, previous education and achievements. These factors continue to motivate and inspire my desire to seek this degree and become a healthcare professional.
Ever since I was eight I always dreamed about becoming a registered nurse. Now that I'm in college I have to base anything I do, or any course I take to help benefit my outcome to be accepted. My goals to acommplish this would be get getting higher than a B+ in all my courses, get accepted into nursing program, and finding a job with Hamiliton Medical Emergency
Many people keep asking me the reason why I have decided to pursue a career in nursing. The simple answer that I always give them is that nursing is the only profession I see that can make me happy. However, this answer is a bit superficial and indeed majority of them find it insufficient. They are all interested in knowing the real reasons that motivated me to want to pursue this career path. I believe that my motivation to want to pursue a career in nursing stems from experiences that I have had throughout my life as well as the innate drive to make a real difference in the lives of other people. The nursing profession will provide me with the perfect platform on which I can have a close and intimate impact on the lives of other peoples in a way that no other career can guarantee. As pointed out by Smith (5), nurses should provide care that is delivered in a compassionate, sensitive, and warm way.
