Becoming a dental hygienist involves the game stage substantially. In the game stage, we begin to understand that the people around us have responsibilities of their own and demands placed upon them as well, the world does not revolve solely around the individual. In patient care, it is important for us as the dental hygienist to be aware that our patients may feel as though they do not have time to brush or floss their teeth. Instead of just placing judgement on them the dental hygienist needs to look at the situation from the patient’s point of view and should empathize and work with the patient to come to a solution. The game stage is likely why we also say keep your home life and your work life separate, this being, if you are fighting

After almost a lifetime of going to orthodontist appointments for myself, I began to realize what a great job becoming an orthodontist would be. Then I put on my retainer, and discovered it was like having braces
The reason why I am motivated to pursue a professional career in social and human services work is because I believe it is the greatest achievement that I would ever accomplish. It would make me proud to know that I am providing support; protection and safety to people that are in need. “A powerful motive for pursuing social or human service work is personal experience” (Chenoweth & McAuliffe, 2015, p. 10). This relates to my own personal experience for example when I was growing up I experienced many abuse such as bullying and domestic violence. My own mother was abused by my father and she did not have
I have always known that I wanted to work with people. The ability to communicate and reach people on different levels is a skill that I don’t believe can be taught – one simply has it or they do not. There certainly are educational models that can help develop these skills, along with diverse life experiences that can integrate and incorporate learned traits; however, if one does not possess comfortability with people, and is not equipped with particular skill sets that are natural, a career working with people may not be the best choice. Any career that I had been interested in involved helping. My real career decision was to be a high school English Teacher, although it certainly wasn’t a decision with staying power.
