Some people may believe that the United States of America is the best country in the world, and others may disagree. If every single country adopted Americas beliefs politically, socially, and economically, then that will have positive and negative consequences. A positive reason other countries will benefit from becoming like the United States politically is because we have fair and just elections to choose our leaders. Another positive effect other countries may benefit from becoming more like America socially is because in America we have a good amount of freedom and aren’t restricted by many laws. Lastly, a positive effect other countries may benefit from being like America economically is because America is a capitalist nation. The negative
In the PBS presentation Inventing America: Making a Nation, the Founding Fathers are brought together to discuss how our nation began as its own entity. Each of the Founding Fathers discussed a few of their contributions to the making of our nation, and how the rules we follow today were created with their help. An ethical question brought up in this presentation by the Founding Fathers was whether or not the British Parliament should be able to control North American colonies.
In order to make America great again, we must go back to our simple ways. We must get rid of all of the unnecessary things in life and go back to what is most important. We must get rid of reason, language, electronics, and anything that will not help us survive. We must only focus self-preservation and our bodily needs, such as food and water. In order to do this, we must strip man of their artificial qualities and find their pure or original qualities. For example, there was once a brand new statue of Glaucus, a deceased fisherman in the Greek myths. This statue was original until “the old parts of his body have been broken off. . .thoroughly maimed by the waves at the same time as other things have grown on him-shells, seaweed, and rocks-so
Is America perfect? Do I believe in it? The America I believe in is the land of the free and the home of the brave. I believe that America is free, and that you have a choice.
In today’s world, so many people are focused on striving for individuality success and achievement. On June 16th, 2015, Donald Trump rode down the Grand Escalator at Trump Tower and announced his candidacy for president. On that day, a political firestorm erupted, and Donald Trump changed politics as we know it. Donald Trump has captivated audiences all across the United States, and his political campaign slogan, “Make America Great Again,” has resonated through the ears of his audience. Many Americans strive for success and achievement, and want America to be great again. In what ways can we make America great again? One way America can be made great is by fixing one of the most divisive, albeit universal, things in our country: our language. In order for Americans to fix the problem of language, Americans must accomplish two things. First, Americans must recognize that there is a problem. Second, Americans must come up with solutions to this problem.
For many years, children from all walks of life have dreamed of going to good schools and making something of themselves by gaining a good education. This is where vouchers come in, but what use are they if private schools do not lead to a better education? Vouchers have been used in schools since the 1950’s so families can send their children to private schools. Voucher systems in the United States of America have been limited to Indiana and Louisiana, Milwaukee and Cleveland because of all the controversy surrounding private school vouchers. Since the 1980’s, people have argued whether or not vouchers are beneficial or detrimental. Democrats say that voucher systems will not solve all problems in the
In Creating America, Joyce Moser and Ann Watters suggest that, “In understanding American identities, we need to come to terms with unity and division, with separateness and common ground” (Page 1). Moser and Watters is explaining that America is a world of contradiction. We are given two options but we cannot choose one side because we are given both options without asking or having to take part in such decisions. For example, we want peace, yet we cause war. We are known to be the land of equality, yet we still fight for equality. We judge one another because of our looks, our religion, our appearances, etc., yet we tell ourselves to not judge one another. These actions are inevitable because we are accustomed to it or we have no say. Moser
How would i promote americanism? I would say doing the right things in life like staying with the right people and not getting into the things you probably shouldn't get into like being over whelmed by doing drugs or smoking cigarettes. Many people in the world are always being influenced by the wrong person at the wrong time. In a way people are making our world worse and worse. Thats why we need to stay on the right path and be the person you want to be. They way that i think we all are promoting americanism is being the person you are and growing up to do things for the world and make it a better place.
The job of a President should not be taken lightly. The behavior of the political opponents is a disgrace. Donald Trumps goes against everything American. Everybody has there own opinion on who they believe should be President, so mine is it should be based off there success and what they want to improve, change and everyone benefits from the decision. It's not a game everyone's lives are at state.
The one constant in society over the course of history are the actions of its youth. Children will always be children, with wild imaginations and the tendency to take after their elders. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by renowned author Mark Twain and The Life and Times of Thunderbolt Kid by Bill Bryson both follow the lives of two young boys growing up in different periods of American history. Each of these literary works provide insight into the author’s perspective of the American experience of that time period. Twain’s opinions of pre-Civil War society live through young Huckleberry while Bryson’s views are told through a version of his younger self growing up in the 1950s. Slavery and racism play a big part in
What can I do to help promote Americanism and love for our country? In our country, there are several days in the year that encourage patriotism such as The 4th of July and Columbus Day. But what I came up with to promote Americanism is… Hands Across America. It would be a Second to the Hands Across America that happened on May 25th, 1986. On the 25th, Hands Across America was to support fighting hunger and homelessness. This time (and many more after) we could change the purpose to us showing love for our country and celebrating it. And rather than having it on only 1 day, we could make it several days longer to a week. We could name it based on the whole week. Then schools could create lesson plans and school events that focus on America.
In the 35 years between 1865 and 1900, more social and economic change took place in American then in all of its history prior. The Civil War brought about a huge amount of change in politics and ushered in the Industrial Age. With this boom in industry also came the socioeconomic transfiguration in America from rural dwelling to city living. Population boomed and residency in cities like Chicago increased fifty-fold. This city boom came with the invention of the elevator and new building techniques for building taller buildings. Also, expanding public transportation and super stores like Macy’s and Marshall Field’s provided the means for inhabitants to function.
Do you ever think to yourself about how America would be without freedom without peace? We would not be able to be
Differences are the key to the development of the United States of America. The reason why we think this is because everybody's thoughts and personalities are different. Even there race is different. In the United States Of America, there are tons of different races. There are Asians, Mexicans, Japanese, African Americans, Whites and the list continues, there are many different races in the world. If there was a list of people's personalities, then that list would never end because no one person is the same. they think differently, they look different, they look at things in their own way if everyone was the same as seen things the same way there would be no creativity in the world. The world woube very boring. and what is the fun in that?
With new technologies created everyday, this problem will only get worse. Although there are activist trying to fix this misconception in teenagers, none are succeeding. More risks need to be taken and without them I don’t think the media’s influence will stop. As a teen myself, I see this dilemma everyday. Many people are losing their potential to achieve something great and losing who they are just to fit the mold that the media and society has created. Our once diverse community will become one full of dolls who are all alike, but doesn’t that take away America’s identity as the melting pot as well?
During the early 1900’s, The United States government was ruled by white men that have captivated the American patriotism. The patriotism of the American society was greatly enchanted by the white superiors wanting to establish a strong American values and culture. The era of the time gave little hopes and dreams of living in a land that its purpose was to give the opportunities to all newcomers. However it was a different scenario among the Mexican American community. The Mexican communities within the United States are force to adapt to a new tradition due to the defeat of Mexican-American War. The Mexican government efforts to persuade its people to leave the United States were no effect because of their disloyalties to its government. From here on the Mexican-American community in the United States will decide its own self recognition of identity.
