SFMC is a level one-trauma center and includes Children’s hospital of Illinois and Illinois Neurological Institute. Many non-clinical and clinical departments make up SFMC including 5 ICU’s: Medical ICU, Surgical ICU, Neuroscience ICU, Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU and Saint Francis Medical Center College of Nursing.
SFMC provides care through many services with outpatient care, emergency medicine, prompt care, and inpatient care. Outpatient care which includes doctor’s office visits. Patients admitted to the hospital with overnight stay experience inpatient care. Prompt care provides services to minor injuries or sickness. Emergency medicine includes level-1, 2, 3 trauma and walk-in patients to the emergency department.

This position is located at the Minneapolis VA Health Care System in the Primary & Specialty Medicine Service Line, 3K Stepdown Unit. This is a 21 bed medical stepdown unit from ICU to acute medicine or surgery. This unit serves as an important component of the continuum of care in the Medical Center. The purpose of the unit is to provide nursing care to veterans experiencing acute medical/surgical problems; or patients requiring close 24/7 observation, skilled nursing care, cardiac monitoring, cardiac continuous cardiac IV medications, insulin drips, close respiratory monitoring and specialized procedures.

VASNHS Surgical Specialty Outpatient department has a designated pre-operative management unit that oversees the patients undergoing surgery. The predicaments stem from various guidelines or protocol originating from numerous surgeons and clinics. At present, the pre-operative nurses abide simple pre-op instructions (NPO protocol, medications, what to bring, during the surgery, transportation, cancellation instructions) for the entire Surgical Specialty Outpatient department. Surgical procedures are being canceled due to lack of communications and cancelations of patients prior to surgery date.

The hospital offers its’ patients “center for diabetes, rehabilitation, colon and rectal surgery, bariatric surgery, pain management and wound and disease management; surgery, joint, and occupational and environmental health centers; and a sleep disorders lab” (Franciscan Alliance, 2015). Additionally, several services for women and children are delivered along with emergency, diagnostic, outpatient therapy, home health, ambulance and EMS, and family care, as well as durable medical equipment (Franciscan Alliance, 2015). The services offered vary between in-patient and out-patient depending on the services rendered. The hospital emergency room services operate 24 hours 7 days per week. However, the human resources department has standard business operation hours of 8 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Irons, 2015).

Pornography is often seen to overstep the bounds of the First Amendment and misrepresent what is means by freedom of speech. Pornography isn’t something that everyone can agree on. For example, feminist are one group of people have a variety of feelings and beliefs towards pornography. While feminist usually share the same way of thinking this is one topic that causes a major division between them. Disagreeing to agree is a common compromise that people face in life, but in the case of pornography feminist can not seem to do so.
