As I walk in through one of the two glass doors framed with a pale brown wood, I see a glimpse of what Harris Stowe calls a Dining hall. First thing I see is a large picture that hangs above a glass top table. The picture seems to be a photo of fresh tomatoes, and baby spinach. There is a caption that reads,” Dedicated to culinary creativity, fresh ingredients, and student satisfaction. To the right of the yellow wall that the paint hung on was a group of four males standing and conversing about only who knows. I see them laugh and joke with each other. Three of the four men had on white aprons and hairnets. The last man had on a chef shirt and a chef hat implying that he was the one in charge. I still haven’t walked all the way into the dinning hall and right by the door sits a black stand with a cash register and a suggestion box. I don’t smell any yummy aromas in the air. Which only makes me feel the food is old and has been sitting a while. And just isn’t fresh. When I stayed on …show more content…
Two young ladies sit a table behind me and the only make in our class sits a t a table in front of me. The last remaining female joins me in my class. We all sit and open our notebooks knowing the task at hand. As I placed my things down I cant help but see and feel the dirt and grime on top of the tables. There were pink and orange stains on the table from the staining of overflowing sodas. The men who were standing around laughing could have been doing their jobs and cleaning this place up, I thought to myself. I looked on the ground around me and saw straw rappers and crumbs. This place is filthy. There are small translucent napkin dispensers on top of majority of the bales. They all have a piece of paper with an image of a green salad promoting food waste awareness. There is a small paragraph on the dispenser on my table that is discussing food portion size and how eating the right amount if beneficial to you in many
It should be noted I observed several drops of blood in a trail from apartment
For my home visit, I was able to observe a boy who was almost 2 years old. His name was Liam, and he was born with what is called, upside down guts. He suffered from low blood sugar seizures as well at a very young age. Because of these seizures, he had a feeding tube in all day. His sensory skills are not at his age level because he never had to feel the texture of foods. He is currently doing much better but is very fussy. When I went with the service provider, a speech pathologist also came along. This was his day to be evaluated for his speech. The service providers did not bring any toys with them but used toys at the home. While I observed they wanted him to place a ball into a hole of his toy. The speech service provider would put the ball in his hands, take the ball away, give him a paper that had a picture of a ball and the word on its.
After a long Thursday of work on the ranch the hard working men packed into the dining hall. Everyone rushed through the lineup to eat first and instantly the sound of growling stomachs and clinking forks and knifes filled the dining room that was silent moments ago. George, Slim, Lennie, Candy and Carlson in their dirty work wear an scuffed boots sat around an old wood dining room table that was aged with scratches and cuts from the many men that had worked at the ranch before the five men that sat around the table today. The men chowed down on roast beef with gravy and garlic mashed potatoes. Lennie was thrilled as he ate his mountain of potatoes. Gravy spilled down the edge of old Candy’s lips. “Jesus Candy do you have any table manners?” Carlson asked with frustration in his deep voice.
I gathered information from Terrence G by interacting and by asking series of questions. In addition, I asked his mother Nicole G questions that Terrance did not know the answer to. The interview took place in the living room of their home Saturday afternoon. I spent an hour observing the participant.
In order to witness enough couples interacting sexually two different bars were observed. One was a karaoke bar with pool tables. The other was a club like bar that had little to no seating inside, but many picnic tables outside. The most common behavior made by people who seemed attracted to each other was physical touching. This behavior was shown in a couple ways. The male or female partner would touch the females arm, shoulder, and thigh. While in a dancing environment the couples displayed sexual dancing acts, such as grinding while dancing or kissing. Throughout the night, as people grew more intoxicated, the sexual behaviors expressed were more publicly sexual and aggressive at times.
The child I observed is in the third grade, she knew of me from the previous time I had visited to do my other observation. Her name is Mahren, she is eight years old, and as reported from her teacher she is slightly above the average student when it comes to academics. The setting I observed her in was loud and full of other students. I reminded the other students in the surrounding area to keep quiet and not help Mahren. I had a child video tape the interaction between Mahren and I. The lunchroom was full of older and younger students, and her friends were around her as I asked her questions and did activities related to Piaget’s theory. The method’s I used were the activity pertaining to the amount of liquid in one class related
Today I spent my first day of observation in the study room of my dorm. This room has a deep blue focal wall, with three large windows. The room contains a wooden table with seven hardback chairs. The room also has a couch, two lounge chairs, a recycling bin, and a trash can. The day is Monday and I was in this room from 7:18 pm and to 10:01 pm. I was alone in this room for a majority of my time there. This room seems to have all of the materials necessary for studying besides a whiteboard. The room has widows and plexiglass when combined with the paint and furniture creates, in my opinion, an inviting atmosphere. About half of my time in the room was spent by myself. This parallels to the fact that oftentimes when I walk by the study room,
The CDEV 2010-2011 Edition by Spencer A. Rathus describes the physical, cognitive, and language development of children. I observed a child in Clovis Community College Lab School, the child was a male and appears to be between two to five-years-old. This child played only with an instructor and one of his peers throughout the observation. The child played at the “clay/playdough” table which he squeezed the clay a few times, but he immediately went to the sink to wash his hands. According to Rathus, “Gross motor skills involve the large muscles used in locomotion…
Upon entering the kitchen which measured at 9 feet 1.5 inches in length and 11 feet 9 inches in width there was various items of evidence. One of the items was a disposable coffee cup measuring 6 ¾ inches in height. It was on top of the kitchen table. The lid was black and the cup was white. It had a cardboard sleeve on it with writing which read “Beat UC Davis Sponsored by ASI Causeway Classic Blood Drive October 20 & 21 10am – 5 pm University Union Ballroom.” There was blood fingerprints on it, approximately seven different fingerprints. The blood prints were only on the sleeve of the cup. Another item of evidence was a kitchen knife which was located on top of the kitchen counter. The knife was 12 inches long and 1 5/8 inches in width. It was approximately 1ft and 4 inches away from the
In the interviews the participants shared their point of view and experience as an educator or parent. The educators have experienced an increase in children with disabilities. They have had to get trainings to support children with disabilities in their classroom. The have also, noticed children with the same disability may not need the same type of support it depends on the severity of the disability. Another thing the educators had in common is they all get training and workshops at least once a month some get more; it depends on the district. Parents state they are content with the services their children are receiving. Through the experience of having their children in inclusion they see their child’s progress. Parents also.
I found myself Sitting on a bench in front of the playground with nothing to do and no one to do anything with. I became the minority segregated from the majority, but instead I was separated from both colored and whites, I was secluded from man for an action I thought to be a benefit to man. So then what did that make me? an entity above everyone else ? or a monster? In my own pity, I looked at my shoes, sullen, expecting to receive emotional support that never did come. It was then that a second pair of shoes pointing towards me, so I looked up unexpectedly without thinking. The girl's name was Jennifer, all that I knew about her was, she was friends with Jeffrey and was notorious for spreading fabricated rumors. She had told me that Jeffrey was spreading a malicious rumor about that surely would have made me lose all social standing to all other students. I don't remember the details of the rumor, but all I remember was a sharp burning pain in my psyche as a result of my consequent actions. Feeling red hot anger I went up to Jeffrey “you lying son of a bitch you…” is all I remembered before a flurry of curse words marched out of my mouth at an erratic rate. For the longest time I had set perceived notion of what was considered bad or good,
While I was staffing the front desk at around 2 in the afternoon, a male patron approached me and asked if I could call the police because he saw people “shooting heroin male” in the male bathroom and added that he often sees “rampant drug use in the bathroom”. Knowing officer Jillian was on lunch break, I pressed the duress button and headed towards the male bathroom to inspect what the patron has reported. As I was heading to the lower level, officer Julian responding to duress alarm emerged from the staff area and I informed him about what the male patron has reported to me.
The place where I feel the most comfortable, and show my personality, is my bedroom. This is the place where I can really be myself and do what I want; it’s the place I come home to, and wake up every day. My room makes me feel comfortable because it is my own space. My house is always crazy, with my dog barking, and my siblings running around making noise, my room is the only place in the house where I can come and relax without caring about everything else, the only place that I can go to clear my mind.
The cafeteria is working in the Madden Student Center, Davis and Elkins College. Though the building appears to be a great college building; it has many areas such as café, dining area, lounge, book and cloth store, etc. It is situated in a beautiful place. It has written its name ‘Madden Student Center’ on the front stone part of the building. So the purpose of this building, no doubt is related to academic matters. But it serves for many purposes. This student study center is a huge building with a grandeur look. There is a lounge named Dorothea A. Timms Lounge. The students and other people used to read and sometimes rest in this lounge area. Davis and Elkins book store is another section in this ‘Madden Student Center’. This book center has a cloth section as well. It has a dining section also. The dining hall is a large one with hanging round
My house is quite large. It has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, two living rooms, a dining room, a special games room and a big front and back garden.
