Behavior in Controversies The strategies most frequently used from the “Behavior in Controversy Questionnaire” is as follows. In the scoring table, there are five categories with five situation areas. In order, they are avoiding, winning, agreeing, majority rules and synthesis, integration. In each category, the highest score is 25 to the lowest of 5. Each category ranged from never (1), seldom (2), occasionally (3), frequently (4) and always (5). Each question describes an action taken during a controversy. The category that I’m analyzing most frequently is the category “Agreeing and Majority Rules scoring 18 total points in this category and 20 in the Majority Rules category. Different people use different strategies for managing conflicts.
I completed Thomas-Kilmann questionnaire in class of Managerial Communication as a part of activity. This questionnaire helped me to recognize my conflict management style which is “Collaborating” as I chose collaborating approach to answer most of the questions that is 9 out of 30. This means I want to solve the conflict or problem rather than ignoring it. I chose competing method only for 3 question. I think, I need to start take stand for the things I believe correct because otherwise it will become really difficult for me to survive in work place where everyone have to compete
I feel at times I accommodate myself at the approval of others. Like for example, I may act differently around certain people then I would around people I feel comfortable around. I also try to maintain a sense of peace and try to smooth over any differences that the group or peers may have. I can honestly say that I try to stay away from any and every conflict if possible.
This activity will help you determine your natural style for dealing with conflict. It is useful to assess your predominant conflict management style(s) because we all tend to prefer one or two of the styles and at times may apply them inappropriately.
“Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak. Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.” – Winston Churchill. The two selections, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl and Hitler Youth: Growing Up in Hitler’s Shadow, are both great examples of people who are going through conflict but still display courage. The best way people can respond to conflict is by having courage and confidence.
Conflict is something that some people can't handle it.how people best respond to conflict'i am Malala'' she responded to conflict by trying to make a difference in peoples lives when things were not ate their best she really tried to make a difference in the world not with her hands but with the most important thing in the world her voice she spoke out to people who gave up in the world to try and them to rise up and also speak what they think is right and what needs to change if they want the people to remain neutral,to all that they are doing wrong to all the people. the Taliban hated how malala spoke out and tried to gain people's trust but the Taliban wanted the people to remain scared and helpless because if all the people spoke
Research shows that positive thoughts can help you to build skills and make a real value in your life, while negative thoughts narrow your mind and you only focus on negative emotions. (Clear, How Positive Thinking Builds Your Skills, Boosts Your Health, and Improves Your Work, Paragraph 3 and Paragraph 13) But what would be the best response to conflict, a negative attitude or a positive attitude? We can look at people such as Louise Ogawa who was in Japanese internment camps in the United States also during World War II who both had a positive response to conflict. Anne Frank who was in the concentration camps in Germany during World War II is another great example of a positive response to conflict. After reading about these people and
Zig Ziglar once said, “Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” In more than one way Ziglar was correct in saying this, a positive attitude is better than a negative one, especially when it comes to conflict. Anne Frank and Mrs.Breed both show how a positive attitude towards a problem would help more than a negative one. In my experience, negative thinking results in more conflict, which means, positive thinking results with a solution, most of the time. This leads me to believe, a positive attitude is the best response to conflict.
1. Concept: Conflict strategies are defined by two separate means: whether something is competitive/ nasty in nature or cooperative/ nice in nature and whether it is directly confronted or avoided indirectly. This creates four categories that that accurately describes how the conflict was handled as either direct fighting, indirect fighting, negotiation, or no-confrontation. The specific topic that will be discussed is Indirect Fighting in which the situation is avoided but in a competitive manner which conveys displeasure with the situation.
This passage reminds of the time when I was at the airport waving goodbye to my cousin, just before she went through the security checkpoint. Just like what Liesel did in the text, I was also holding on to my cousin's hand until I got blocked off by one of the security guards, who were at the entrance of the checkpoint. However I was only five at that time, so I didn’t care about what the security guard said and kept on following my cousin. As a result, the guard was angered and I was asked to leave the checkpoint and my cousin alone. As I left, my eyes were teary because she was the only girl cousin that I had and that she cares about me. As a result, I can still remember this experience clearly in my

In this paper I will discuss the conflict that is occurring at General Hospital, the conflict management styles that are evident in the case, and how General Hospital could have used teams to address the cost reductions needed to stay competitive. I will also describe how the CEO of General Hospital, Mike Hammer can us negotiation skills to get buy-in for the cost reductions and finally I will recommend a strategy for Hammer to resolve the problem.
Within the study of human sociology, sociologists look through different lenses to view society. These lenses, or sociological paradigms, set a basis for the questions sociologists ask and provide different perspectives sociologists can take when attempting to explain humans and their societies. To display the diversity in which we may critique society, you can compare the two primary ways we approach sociology: social consensus and social conflict. To support my comparison I will outline information gathered in class and information from articles including Karl Marx’s “The Workings of Social Class” and Max Weber’s
Each person has a characteristic personality. Such a style reflects our unique wants, needs, and values. In conflicts, there are specific global patterns that can be identified that are reflective of how individuals deal with such challenges. These global patterns consist of five approaches to conflict management: Competing, Collaborating, Compromising, Avoiding, and Accommodating.
This is a research about conflict which should be considered and resolute during a project. Although, six experts are from different background, there are many sufficient methods to deal with different kind of issues during the working. The great mode has used in the research is Thomas-Kilmann’s conflict mode instrument. (Thomas, K. W., & Kilmann, R. H. ,1974). There are five effective approaches are discussed. Each approaches have its positive and negative effects. Also, there are many problems that each expert should consider about themselves which can devote their effort to help finish the project successfully. Achieving mastery through a comprehensive study of all of these methods can finally bring a huge success to the whole project.
