The Path of Paramedics
Caring for patients in the EMS environment is like riding a motorcycle: The moment you get comfortable and think you’ve seen everything, you become dangerous(David Persse)! Just one day in the life of a paramedic and you will second think anything you thought you knew. They must be prepared or any and everything that could possibly happen. They can hold your life in their hands and they have to have the skills to sustain in until the hospital is reached. Becoming a paramedic is the right choice because, everyday seems like an adventure, the schedule is as set as stone, and you have the chance to save lives without eight years or more in medical school(Devantier, Alecia T., and Carol A. Turkington). You never know what life may throw at you. One day you can be hiking through the mountains and the next, you could end up riding in the back of an ambulance fighting

You could pull up to any scene imaginable, even some you see in the movies. No matter how crazy it might seem, you have to think and work fast if you are going to save someone else. You may have a shift that leaves you completely exhausted, but you gave everything in you to give them a second chance. You may not have the schooling or the training doctors do, but you still have the ability to save people. To begin, medical assistants can be overlooked in a medical office because some health care professionals may not understand what a medical assistant can do. According to Taché and Chapman (2005), “Many physicians are unsure of what tasks are appropriate to assign to an MA and do not help MAs work to their full abilities and potential” (p. 51). Medical Assistant are a great asset to a medical office because the medical assistant can perform administrative, clinical, and laboratory tasks.
Emergency Medical Technicians are the ones that respond to emergency calls, perform medical services, and transport patients to medical facilities. (“Summary.”) The idea of transporting an injured individual in a hurry has been
An extended care paramedic are experienced clinical practitioners that specialise in patient assessment and a deliverance of quality care. Extended care paramedics treat mainly low to medium acute patients in a variety of community and clinical settings. ("Department of Health | Boosting Productivity", 2017. Their role is primarily to treat those in low need of care to take the strain off high running facilities such as hospitals and first responders. Extended care paramedics are most beneficial to those living independently and also those in aged care facilities. ECPs provide alternate care pathways for patients and assist in reducing unnecessary transport to hospital. Attendance by an ECP reduces the disruption to

New Zealand is an ongoing developing country, with the population continue to grow. This means that the health sector must improve to keep on top of the amount required to establish the care to the patients. In New Zealand, Paramedics respond to over 450,000 jobs a year (Tunnage, Swain, & Waters, 2015). A paramedic needs to carry out many assessments in different uncontrolled conditions in a minimal time to achieve the best results for the patient. Treating a vulnerable adult or a child in pre-hospital settings is always a possibility. Paramedics need to insure the keep an eye out for any signs like, bruises, fragile, lack of energy due to lack of food, etc (Phillips, 2013). Another study was conducted by Cohen, Levin, Gagin, & Friedman (2007) which indicates similar methods to identify different form of abuse, like emotional distress, low self-esteem, the feeling of not being believed when they speak.
I believe that the job role paramedics undertake on a daily basis is astonishing and admirable. Being a paramedic is a fast-paced and very highly demanding job to commit to and become involved with, they are put under astronomical amounts of pressure to care for the patients they are sent to at the most critical moments of time. The role requires you to have the ability to deal with a lot of stress and pressure being placed upon you but also having a high level of medical expertise to assess the situation and come to the quickest and best decision for the current patient. The work that paramedics have done on both friends and family has inspired and motivated me to join this medical profession. My interest in the medical profession has grown and grown since I was young.
Medical assistants work underneath the guidance of physicians and some nurses usually within care facilities like offices and clinics. Medical assistants should have a variety of skills to be successful within this career. Many skills should be specialized for this field, such as, having a good understanding of medical terminology and procedures to be able follow and read what patient charts read or instructions given by a physician. They should also be able to use medical equipment and tools. Depending on how big of facility and the number of staff members within the care facility, medical assistant jobs can vary.
An EMT must be able to multi task under pressure, develop good communication skills, and work as a team member to help the patient in need. A year ago, when I played basketball and volleyball for my school, I had to learn how to listen to my other teammates and the people in the bleachers cheering while still focusing on the task at hand. There were times when I had to block the ball from a really good hitter during volleyball and people depended on me to keep the ball on their side. There is also the pressure to make the last point in the game to win. These experiences are similar to those of an EMT because both must think fast in order to get the job done.
The medical field is one of the fastest occupations in the world. Medical Assistants and LPNs have different roles and responsibilities. You will get a better understanding about each occupation position in the medical field. Understand the difference between the two is not as difficult as it seems. The difference between the two is Medical Assistants handles basic clinical tasks. They are responsible for medical records, book-keeping, and answering call. Most Medical Assistants help Doctors examine and treat patients. They are responsible for drawing blood, and giving injections. Medical Assistants work in private offices and have clinical duties according to the state law. Medical Assistant can check temperature, height, and weight. They
When it comes to the medical world there will be a lot of cultural backgrounds that one will come across from. With these cultural diversities difficulties and limitations will occur that will need solutions and variations of treatments with patients that have cultural diversities. However how do medical assistants adapt and deal with different cultures? Let's take the Islamic culture, more specifically the Muslim religion which there are about 3.35 million (Lipka 2017) of Muslims that live in the United States alone and becoming the seconded largest religion besides Christianity. So, how as a medical assistant can we adapt to Muslim patients?
In order to become a medical assistant you have to make good grades and finish high school and then go to college. The best college to go to in Nashville is Remington College. Mobile Integrated Healthcare, Community Paramedic (MIH/CP) is a nationally recognized program where local Emergency Medical Services (EMS) have become involved in providing patient-centered care in partnership with local resources such as social services and primary care (Mobile Integrated Healthcare and Community Paramedicine (MIH-CP): A National Survey, 2015). These programs range in services from in-home consultation for chronic disease management to deploying telemedicine to connect homebound patients with offsite care givers. The author states: “From medical homes to care teams to accountable care organizations, the concept of collaborative, integrated, patient-centered care is a major theme of healthcare reform - and MIH-CP (p. 9)”.
In the near future I aspire to embark on a career as a qualified professional Paramedic with a successful degree. I want to aid people in threatening and non-threating life situations at my extreme personal best. My curiosity and willingness to help others arose due to a personal loss, thus wanting to study paramedic science at university level and be part of the NHS; a place where life, love and loss unfolds every single day.
High school was over, a college in Lubbock, Texas was chosen, and this young adult was going to attend paramedic school. At the end of the first semester, personal and family issues surfaced, and it was back to the little small town of Willis. Still wanting to pursue the paramedic field, Reed realized that this wasn’t the right time to do so, and began seeking employment to help with family needs. This hardworking driven individual worked two to three jobs at a time over the next nine years to help support family. In all this time, the dream of becoming a paramedic was never lost. It wasn’t until June 2011 that the door to pursue this field was reopened.
