It’s a timeless cliche that high school is all about growing up and getting a fresh start. But the only reason why this statement remains timeless is because there is some truth to it. When I first walked through the doors on my first day here, it honestly felt like a new beginning. Honestly, it doesn’t feel like I’ve been here that long. In my mind it’s only been a few weeks since school started but nonetheless, this place has impacted me a lot. It is true that you have to grow up a bit once you get to high school. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a goofy and random kid, just ask my friends. However, when I started I was challenged to look at my studies from a new perspective. No longer is anything just one plus four equals five or c-a-t spells …show more content…
Science is considering how we can change the world by using things found in the world itself. Math is thinking about how to solve problems and work with others. English is looking at human nature and how our actions look on paper. It’s all more complex than a simple homework assignment. I’m now not only learning things that will help me graduate. I’m now being prepared for life now and in the future. More and more, I walk out of a class with inspiration for projects or with an idea that makes me think deeply about my life and how I perceive things. But it’s not just the classes and teachers that have changed me. I’m meeting all kinds of new people now who often have even just a piece of random knowledge that I can learn from. I’ve met incredible people who are doing extraordinary things. Because of their example, I would one day like to take the things I’ve learned and be as impactful to others as they have been to me. Yes, people can look at high school as just going from class to class and listening to lectures. But in the long run, I see it as all of us being trained to go out and be a part of this hectic yet wonderful
From happy moments to sad moments, from having the best time to falling asleep in class. Middle school was also a place for change. As Robin Sharma once stated, “Change is hard at first, messy in the middle and gorgeous at the end.” High school will definitely bring many changes in our lives. At first, everything may be difficult but, as each year goes by you will quickly realize that you are capable of handling it because, you know at the end of the day everything will be
The beginning of high school is the start to the next four years of hell. No one wants to be there. Everyone says, “these will be the best four years of your life!” Along with, “it goes by so fast,” and, “in the blink of an eye,” but the truth is, I don’t see it. Every waking moment I have to sit through a lecture in a cold, solid, chair is like sitting silently next to your parent in a car as they scold you for what you’ve done. You can’t go anywhere, or say anything. You just have to embrace it.
I think I speak for many people when I say high school is a critical point in one’s life. Coming into high school, things seemed to be tightly-knitted between my peers and I; those of us who had just
When I initially began High School I thought internally, this is it, this is the point at which my life changes, this is where school work gets harder, classes get harder, the sports become more advanced, and my evaluations in High School are going to reflect my employment, and universities later on, and everything in my life has finally become a hectic roller coaster. But I know that High School is like a stream because along the way you'll find some trash, go over some harsh spots, discover a whirlpool or two, stagnate for a bit, lastly get to the end of the adventure and acknowledge you have had an awesome ride. I know this without a doubt in light of the reality that back in middle school/ junior high I got awful grades I kept saying to myself every time, that I have to stay focused and get my grades up because my grades in my previous years would follow me through high school. In middle school it was hard for me to remain centered and complete my work, and get decent grades. I had to keep my mind like a sponge and absorb all the details I could in every class.
I remember being an anxious eighth grader thinking about starting my freshman year of high school. We went from being at the top of the school to being at the bottom of a new one. All of our middle school teachers always told us about how our high school teachers wont “hold our hands” and how we will be on our own. Being in high school is completely different than being in elementary school and middle school. Its almost like each year we have more and more freedom but more responsibility.
Walking into school on my first day of high school, I felt out of place. My face covered in acne, my teeth covered in braces, and the callicks in my hair stuck up through the abnormally thick layer of hair gel that coated them. My middle school social anxiety still ruled over me as I could barely speak with any member of the opposite sex. Yet, I still had an odd confidence about me. I had always been one of the best students in my class, even without ever studying for a test. I viewed high school as a slight uptick from the curriculum I had easily passed in middle school. I was wrong. High school exists as a microcosm of society, in which I originally failed to acclimate myself to the challenges posed to me in a setting of increased
During high school, I feel that I’ve grown a lot as a person. Even though I still have a significant amount of growth left to do in college, my family, religion, community, and the various experiences I’ve had in high school have allowed me to mature and become a more enlightened person.
High School is a time when many teenagers get into trouble and have many conflicts and struggles. Without all of the struggles, high school is supposed to be four terrific years. There are many struggles for teens like peer pressure, managing your time, fitting in, and many more. Most high schoolers will get pressured by their peers at some point and can cause some serious problems. About fifty-five percent of students play a high school sport on top of having a job, keeping your grades up, and just overall having fun, which can be very hard to do. During High school, students are going to want to not be themselves and want to fit in without being judged by their peers. High school should be a time for you to have some great years in your
Everyone has heard or been told, “high school is what you make of it.” High school is in fact what you make of it, but it is also the time of great change in everybody. Entering grade nine you still feel like a kid, your post-secondary and career choices are far from top priority. However, by grade twelve we become more mature and grow into young adults. Personally looking back to my grade nine self and comparing her to my grade twelve self of today, I am able to see changes in my character, my athletics and my goals.
Many things change after High School. Its the time when you finally enter the “ real world”. The adult world the place where you have to take everything serious. Its the beginning to the new chapter of your life.
High school is a very interesting time in your life. These are truly the years in which you transition into adulthood and begin to have a greatened sense of self-determination. You must take this as an opportunity to explore your world and yourself. High school is undoubtedly a place to learn, and this applies to many areas outside of your classroom, and in order to learn all you can, it is best to dive fearlessly into all facets of high school life.
The transition to high school is a pivotal moment in many students’ lives. They become more challenged in their classes and learn new ways to deal with ideas. The exposure from these new experiences forever changes the way they look at future concepts. Oliver Wendell Holmes once said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.”
High School; the most rigorous and aggravating part of my life. “People say high school is about obtaining an education and pursuing acceptance into an exceptional college to succeed in life. To me high school is about building memories and marvelous times that will last forever.” High school has always seemed like something facile due to all the movies that we have watched throughout our childhood, although in reality it is a challenging and momentous part of our life. High school is about obtaining my education, yet obtaining an education can also be enjoyable. Throughout high school, I’ve been completing all my high school requirements and a little extra.
As we go on in life we face many challenges and new situations that we deal with. A new situation that most people deal with is college and all the changes that come along with it. What many people don't realize is that high school, in many ways, is similar and differrent from college. Not only are people changing but the surroundings and work change as well. There are some things that seem to never change such as some work and people.
I know high school has been a very interesting experience for you. You get a knot in your stomach. It’s difficult to describe a jumble of fear and sprinkles of nervousness with a side of excitement. There’s a lot of uncertainty and expectation in the air, and I suppose that’s what makes it so exciting, but equally as frightening. A fear develops because you’re afraid you might not find the answers to these questions, or when exactly will you find them and you may not like the answers at all. The only things you can control are our ability to work your hardest and do your best. High school has definitely had its highs and lows and many confusing experiences in between. High school has taught you many things, both academically and emotionally.
