Being a Christian Role Model A role model is somebody you desire to be like; someone who sets a good example. Christians today need a role model who encourages them to have faith and be strong through difficult times. The qualities a Christian role model should have are faith, loyalty, strength, dedication and not being influenced by public opinions.
Some people would agree with the statement that Peter isn’t a good role model for Christians today for the reason that Peter promised that he wouldn’t deny Jesus when Jesus predicted his denial. This proves that in this passage Peter is untrustworthy; Christians today want to

He doesn’t want Jesus to die, which illustrates him being selfish again. He doesn’t understand the cost of discipleship which explains why he isn’t a good role model for those who want to be followers of Christ but not quite sure on what they should do our how to behave.
Peter is a coward; when Jesus was arrested Peter only follows him from a distance. At Jesus’ crucifixion Peter isn’t there for him, he deserted Jesus in his hour of need when he was lonely and needed his friend.
However, some people would disagree with the statement for the reason that Peter broke down and cried when he realised that he had done what Jesus had predicted. He knew he had done wrong and was sorry. Peter is a good role model; yes he makes mistakes but we all do. Role models don’t necessarily need to be perfect. He did try to be loyal, many people break promises it doesn’t make them a bad person.
When Jesus speaks of his suffering and death Peter tells Jesus off, not because he wants glory but since he loves his friend he doesn’t want him to die. He has courage and faith as given that he was the first disciple to recognize Jesus as the messiah, these are the qualities we look for in a good role model.
Jesus trusted Peter on many occasions. For instance in the passages ‘The Transfiguration’ and ‘Jairus’ daughter’. Jesus also changed Peter’

5. What is your basis of ethics? My basics of ethics was taught by my grandma she instilled a lot of her values and morals in my life giving me the teachings that made her a bright woman. She made sure to start on me early by getting me involved in church and helping me understand my religion and god and what he expects from his people. I was told to become a leader and not a follower use gods power that he using in my life to restore and help those who may be broken in life. I always ask god if I’m unsure I understand in this world of many temptations we may fall but our god isn’t a judging god and will be there with open ears and arms to help you get it right if you want change. I am not perfect but I pay attention I know right from wrong and know I am help accountable for my actions and faults. And have god move in my
The word “Christian” in Colorado Christian University is more than just a belief shared amongst the Faculty and Student Body. It is the foundation on which all aspects of the educational experience are built. Beginning with a strong Statement of Faith, which aligns with core beliefs of the National Association of Evangelicals, the University proclaims its belief “in the Bible as being the only authoritative Word of God, that God exists in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, as well as belief in the salvation and resurrection that is only found in Christ Jesus” (Statement of Faith at Colorado Christian University, n.d.).
Theme in “Defender of the Faith” can be interpreted in many varying ways, some of which are life-long lessons and others to the relation between faith and the individual.
1. The biblical basis of Jubilee 2000’s call for the immediate canceling of all debts of HIPC’s is found in Leviticus. This bible book states that “you shall not oppress one another.” Also in the book of Leviticus in the case of someone who becomes poor and in turn to sells his possessions then his relative may redeem the possessions he sold. Or if the man has no one to redeem it but he himself becomes able to redeem it then let him count the years since the sale, and restore the remainder to the man whom he sold it, that he may return to his possessions. But if he’s not able to have it restored to himself, then what was sold shall remain in the land of him who bought it until the year of Jubilee and in the
There is only one way to god and that is threw Jesus Christ. We have to go through Jesus because we are sinners and sin cannot be in God’s presence. Sin is falling short of Gods glory and since we all fall short we need Jesus to bring us back. To have Jesus we must accept him.
This class has made me think about encounters I have had with different groups of people over the last couple years. The class that we discussed Islam reminded me about a time at work when I was talking to a Muslim co-worker. My co-worker was talking her weekend and that she went to the Cheesecake Factory and said that she tried red wine for the first time and thought it was disgusting. I did not think anything of asking her if she just turned 21, thinking that was why it was a big deal that she had drank red wine. I had completely forgotten that Muslims are not supposed to drink alcohol and basically put my foot in my mouth. She did not think it was a big deal and kind of laughed about it, but I still felt bad. I had assumed that college students who are Muslim would be kind of like Christian college students, by exploring more things and doing things that their faith does not necessarily approve off. I am sure that there are many Muslim college students who do do that, but I should not have assumed that Muslim college students would act the same way that many Christian college students do.
According to Bill Hull, “While certain pockets of evangelicalism have grown, overall, the church is in a decline. Many congregations can attest to Hull’s assessment, in that, churches in America are indeed experiencing sharp declines in its numbers of baptisms and church attendance. Over
What do you see when you visit a city for the first time, or look at a movie or, what do you hear when you listen to the news or read a book? The answers to these questions depend on your worldview. So, what is a worldview? A worldview is described as “the framework from which we view reality and make sense of life and the world.” David Noebel, author of Understanding the Times said, “A worldview is any ideology, philosophy, theology, movement or religion that provides an overarching approach to understanding God, the world and man 's relations to God and the world," Your worldview is like a set of lenses through which you view the world. Your worldview is formed by your upbringing, your education, your culture, the books you read, the
Many times we see those that are called to follow after Christ yet don’t answer that very call. In Matthew 4:21-22 we see that Peter answered this call, “And going on from there he saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them. Immediately they left the boat and their father and followed him.” It is here in Matthew that we see one of the most important strenghts that Peter had, courage. Peter had the courage it took to get out of the boat and follow after Christ! There are many things we can say about Peter but one of the most important things is that he was courages and willing to take that first step. This courage of Peter highlights the first character strength that we will look at and that is that Peter was man of loyality.
When discussing and proving the person of Christ, there are two basic laws that must be addressed and proven. First you must prove that Christ is one hundred percent human (humanity), then you must prove that at the same time Christ is one hundred percent God (deity).

Christianity is the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. Most followers of Christianity, called Christians, are members of one of three major groups--Roman Catholic, Protestant, or Eastern Orthodox. These groups have different beliefs about Jesus and His teachings. But all consider Jesus central to their religion. Most Christians believe God sent Jesus into the world as the Savior. Christianity teaches that humanity can achieve salvation through Jesus.
Nations crumble, churches and business fail, families become dysfunctional, children lose their way, and men stray from God for one disturbing reason; lack of leadership. These failures are often because of the lack of instruction, proper leadership, and confusion over what Christian leadership is and how that leadership is applicable to every facet of business and personal life.
Almost a decade ago, after I had spent a year of in a discipleship program, I adopted the mission statement: Make the next right decision, and promptly admit when I’m wrong. To me this statement encompasses everything I know about applying Christian ethics to everyday life. Motivated by love, I seek to act in holiness and justice in every choice I make, including admitting promptly when I choose wrong. To make the best decisions possible I apply a biblical perspective, and ethical evaluation toward sound reasoning in recognition of both the spiritual and natural world.
