The customary idea of the environment is human focused, with everything that encompasses (surrounds) us characterized as the environment. Then again, science characterizes the earth as a mind boggling arrangement of living things and natural processes and the human species only one player in this web- albeit with significant impacts to the environment (Maxwell, 2014). Environmental health encompasses chemical, biological, and physical hazards and thus is not limited to industrial pollution as many often associate environmental health with.
People should realize that the environment has its own value that needs to be protected, because after all humans rely greatly on the environment for many things. The more people change the way they look at the environment and try and increase the environment in many ways, the better life will be for people, and also the environment can also start healing a lot sooner than it was doing before. If people don’t start taking action, the environment will not start be healed as soon as it should be and the environment could in result decline.
We are a part of nature however we are its greatest enemy. Since the dawn of time humans starting inventing. We strive to make our lives easier but at what cost? Our connection to the world we live in has become increasingly distant because there is not a close connection between humans and nature. By neglecting our relationships with nature we suffer personal consequences such as missing out on earth's beauty, activities, and living a healthy life.
There is an unwritten sense that the bond between man and nature is predestined. Humans may have a physical relationship with each other, but the connection with nature begins at birth. However, continuous advancements in technology, as time passes, weakens the bond between humans and nature. People have become fixated on technology and checking social media, so much that they lose touch with nature. Even though humans only need water, food, and shelter to survive, humanity has an ever growing need to innovate and improve man’s living conditions. Humans tend to think of nature as responsible for providing for humans, instead of vice versa. Today’s society lives in the fast lane, where instead of being able to enjoy leisure
Good post on defining environmental consciousness, you mentioned scientist and scholars alike understands and in need of people who put more thought into how products are manufactured. You gave good examples listed in your paper. You mentioned it is about having awareness of what an individual is putting in the environment. I found that “prior research indicates that people vary in levels of environmental consciousness depending on their sociodemographic characteristics (Ying- Chang & Chang, 2012). Sociodemographic characteristics pertains to combination of social demographic factors, can influence and play
The relationship between humans and their environment is a topic that engenders much debate. Humans are intellectual. They can think, reason, feel and make deductions or hypothesis and seek to solve or prove their deductions or theories. The environment on the other hand is inanimate and exists by means of natural laws and principles that govern the universe. It cannot prevent man’s exploitations; it cannot take up arms and fight. However, in its own way, by natural laws, it makes efforts to purge and renew itself from the effects of man’s endeavors. Mangor (2002) argues that like the ocean that
What would i bring to the eco quest team? My parents instilled in me a passion for travel and an interest of learning about other countries. I have been lucky enough to visit 20 different countries over the years. Interacting with people from different backgrounds and countries has made history more interesting.
It cannot be denied that, in at least some areas, the invention and progression of technology has benefitted the human race. With the growing industrialization of the world in the last centuries the lives of many people have been made easier. But, this growth of technology is not without its consequences and people are not without their concerns. While industrialization has had its benefits, the environmental cost of this progress is immense, and the impact it has on nature can be hard to swallow. It may seem like talk of the environment is something to be left to scientists or activists specializing in that particular field, but they are
Along with my love for the environment came a pain in watching it suffer around the world as human development encroached onto once untouched regions. I felt powerless and desperate to somehow use my individual influence, no matter how small, to slow the damage to the planet and lessen the impact a growing population was having as we dive deeper for resources.
What are we doing to our environment? This is a question many people have asked but never quite been able to answer in the fullest way. How do we find out the answer then you ask? By multiple sources. There’s the ‘scare’ tactic, saying what could happen in the future if we don’t change our ways. There’s the ‘inspirational’ tactic which spreads the word of all good that we can, should, or maybe even have done to our environment. And last but not least, the ‘fiction transformation’ tactic which turns something that we would read ourselves or maybe to our children to open up our eyes of what’s going on. Why is this important to even know? Many different ‘eco enthusiasts’ express their research on the environment, this general tactic is called ecocriticism. Ecocriticism is where authors analyze texts that embellish environmental concerns and study the various
In the current world of immense technology, increasing population and flourishing economic, investigations have shown that the global economy is outgrowing the earth’s ecosystem. Environmental problems are some of the most vital issues which human being, especially environmentalists, pay significant attention to. As individuals, what we are able to do is to adopt some small but significant changes to reduce our ecological footprints, thus making little but crucial contributions to our living environment. In the past half of the month, I changed my lifestyle and tried two changes to improve the quality of our ecosystem.
We all want to help preserve this beautiful life giving planet we call home. We may not know what we can do to reduce our destructive impact on the environment. But the answer is simple and it is staring us in the face three times a day.
Throughout history, the environment around our society has played a large role and has had serious implication on the very existence of humans. From war, peace migration, population growth, disease, along with the rise and fall of many civilizations mother nature has been right along for the ride through the prosperity and as well as the hardship. The environmental problems that occur have been happening due to natural occurrences, but recently since the age of the Industrial Revolution human activity has become a large factor in the increased problems that are present, and the implications of our consequences are hurting not only the environment but also us in turn. The major environmental issues cause by humans are loss in biodiversity, deforestation, ocean pollution, water scarcity and climate change.
A photograph of Earth reveals a great deal, but it does not convey the complexity of our environment. Our environment (a term that comes from the French environner, “to surround”) is more than water, land, and air; it is the sum total of our surroundings. It includes all of the biotic factors, or living things, with which we interact. It also includes the abiotic factors, or nonliving things, with which we interact. Our environment includes the continents, oceans, clouds, and ice caps you can see in the photo of Earth from space, as well as the animals, plants, forests, and farms that comprise the landscapes around us. In a more inclusive sense, it also encompasses our built
Environmental issues have been a cause of a lot of debate in the recent past. Governments and nongovernmental organizations have been in constant consultations on how to help protect the environment. Apparently, as a result of man’s many actions, the natural environment is getting torn apart so quickly that the coming generations will not enjoy this kind of environment, unless a
