Advantages and Disadvantages of Organization Wellness Programs Introduction Wellness programs are aimed at enhancing the physical and emotional wellbeing of employees. The basic concept behind any wellness program is to boost the health of the targeted group of persons. This initiative is usually instigated by insurance firms, enterprises, and not-for -profit organizations for their personnel and other stakeholders. The program focuses on issues related to health such as the mental, emotional, and physical aspects of people’s lives. The ultimate goal of the program is to create changes in the lifestyle of the participants by means of intensification in their physical activity and adjustment in their nutritional habits. The previous decades have been characterized by an emergence of lifestyle diseases. Unwholesome routines such as consumption of tobacco, poor diet, inactivity, and regular intake of alcohol are fueling the dominance of chronic illnesses such as heart disease, diabetes, and pulmonary complications. Out of concern, establishments are implementing strategies that promote health and disease prevention. Organizations are adopting wellness programs in order to access workers at a stage when interventions can positively change their health in the long-term. Embarking on implementation of wellness programs carries with it numerous advantages and disadvantages. The aim of this paper is to delve deeper into the merits and demerits of organization wellness programs.
