Executive Summary
The Southhampton community has a total of 200 homes completed and another 100 homes under construction for a total of 300 homes in the community. Since the development of the Southhamptons, it has had to contend with robberies and vandalism. The proposed solution is to establish a 24-hour security presence.
How will additional security measures secure The Southhampton?
The reason for the additional security presence is to decrease the destruction and thievery in the neighborhood and help all homeowners feel safe. Additionally, people driving through the neighborhood that do not live there will decrease. Therefore, the amount of thefts and vandalism to the homes and amenities will decrease. When deciding to increase additional security presence there are three questions to consider:
1. What are the costs of this additional security?
2. What guideline will be followed in hiring the correct security?
3. What type of security should be put into place?
Benefits and risks of 24 hour security patrols
Research shows that Southhampton will benefit in several ways:
1. Property values will increase in a secured neighborhood
2. The immediate reduction of vandalism and theft to properties and automobiles
3. All homeowners will have their processions and family members safe
The potential problems and fees for putting a 24-hour security patrol in place:
1. Are security guards the only option to address this issue
2. Where will the additional monies come from
3. How will
The Kansas City preventive patrol experiment was a landmark experiment carried out between 1972 and 1973 by the Kansas City Police Department of Kansas City, Missouri. It was designed to test the assumption that the presence (or potential presence) of police officers in marked cars reduced the likelihood of a crime being committed. It was the first study to demonstrate that research into the effectiveness of different policing styles could be carried out responsibly and safely. The Kansas City Police Department drew the conclusion that routine preventive patrol in marked police cars has little value in preventing crime or making citizens feel safe and that resources normally allocated to these activities could safely be allocated elsewhere. A significant factor realized was that crime prevention was more highly dependent on the willingness of citizens to report suspicious and/or criminal behavior to Police than the levels or types of patrol.
“The Homeland Security Act of 2002 established the federal United States Department of Homeland Security. Its stated mission is to secure the nation against terrorist attacks, to protect against and respond to threats and to ensure safe and secure borders” (Andrew, C., & Walter, F., 2013). “In addition to reducing the nation’s vulnerability to terrorism, the act was also created minimize the damage and facilitate recovery from any attacks that may occur” (Homeland Security, Department of, 2017). Many people want protection from dangerous situations, but what’s the cost of protection.
In the field of policing there are a couple different paths for an individual to choose from and they include private security and public policing. State government, city government, and towns normally provide the community with a public police force to enforce the laws and protect the citizens. Police officers are very important within a community but sometimes a private security can come in and help out and this frees up time for the public policing. Private security personnel generally work for a private company that handles their own dispatching, training and recruiting. Private security functions include loss-prevention duties or protective services that would not be
After the terrorist attack September 11, 2001, the United States government increased their investments in security. Many innocent lives were lost because of that incident, which worried the United States of America about self-defense or Homeland Security. Homeland Security was signed to become a law by the President George W. Bush in November 2002. Their main priority was to secure the country from the threats such as international terrorism. The Department of Homeland security had to focus on five goals such as prevent terrorism, enhance security, secure the borders, enforce immigration laws, safeguard, and cyberspace. In order to achieve these goals a lot of work was needed.
There is a strong support for the belief that when citizens feel that their neighborhood is no longer safe, the feeling of insecurity forces them to move away. What it is important to mention is that this option will most likely be available to the middle class or those who can afford to move, but not to the poor, who have fewer choices. If the middle class moves out and the poor stay, the neighborhood will inevitably become economically disadvantaged. If by any of the already mentioned reasons an individual has to move out to a more hospitable environment, he will lack his trust and confidence in police 's ability to provide its first obligation, which is safety to the public. To deter this, police must
Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) – LSCB has been set up to make sure the safeguarding and welfare of children in the local area. If a school has a concern, the local authority will also act alongside it to follow guidelines and ensure that all agencies work together.
As being a police officer becomes more and more scrutinized by the community and the media, it is difficult to find citizens to fill these positions. When a lot of what officers do day to day currently is continually watched, it makes it hard to please the community and also keep the safety of everyone, so it is ever more excruciating that officers stay safe. With our ever changing world police officers have to keep up as well to learn and adapt to how the world works to keep everyone and themselves safe. The Greeley Police department should provide more extensive training on educating officers to stay safer because it will keep officer safety a priority, create a better understanding as to why they should have body cams and dash cams, and learn to properly deal with mental health patients.
Crime Stoppers is an organization program ran by a community of volunteers through the board of directors. The Crime Stoppers is inspired by the information given by leads which help the law enforcement solve crimes. Crime Stoppers have goals that are to help to fight against crime but doesn’t work with law enforcement. A law enforcement coordinator also mentors and contributes to the board but is not a member.
Police can spend extra time in the areas at risk for crime, the thinking goes, and prevent those
Why do we as American's fear of becoming the victim of a crime? Reality is that we as individuals of the United States only have a two-percent chance of becoming the victim of a violent crime. Surveillance is starting to become high in demand for businesses, offices, and even inside and outside of homes solely because we are taught that crime is always happening to someone, somewhere. From personal experience, I feel as if surveillance cameras are not only one of the best ways to prevent crime, but it also increases the possibility to catch the individual(s) who choose to engage in a deviant act or actions. Although alarm systems can be effective, they do not identify who is committing the crime. The alarm systems simply tell the
Patrol accounts for the biggest portion of police work in most police agencies. The terms “patrolling” and ”on patrol” generally refer to what officers do while not handling calls for service—officers do this mostly in patrol cars, but sometimes on foot, on bicycles, on horseback, or the like. While on patrol, officers may look for traffic violations, suspicious behavior, disorder, and unsafe conditions. They may also look for opportunities to interact with the public in casual or more formal situations. This is all considered patrolling.
Companies in today’s society are often required to abide by an abundant amount of rules and regulations imposed upon them which stem from government and law enforcement authority. In analyzing the Case of “The Reluctant Security Guard” we will examine the decision making process which led to David Tuff effectively ‘whistle blowing’ for what he felt was the right thing to do.

Use of surveillance technology are impinging on our privacy as they are affecting student moral, privacy at workplace, behavior of people, life
Thesis Statement: “Citizens of this country should value the national security more than their privacy since it is concerned with a much larger group of people in order to protect our country from invaders, to maintain the survival of our country and to prevent airing of criticism of government.”
