Guns! - yay or nah
It’s my right? What gives you the right to tell me what I can and can’t own? Well if these mass shootings keep happening then you would have to be insane to allow guns to be legal. Yes, the II Amendment regulates the sale, possession and use of firearms and ammunition, but laws and regulations can be changed to benefit the general public. Isn’t saving lives more important than wanting a firearm in a box at home?
I understand, you are a responsible member of the public and you are a trustworthy person but unfortunately there are members of the public who are not mentally stable who ruin it for the rest of us.
But do you want to be the person who allows these kind of people, the mentally unstable to be able blatantly murder

He made changes because he believed it would benefit society. “We will find any means we can to further restrict them because I hate guns. We don’t want the American disease imported into Australia” - John Howard. He made a change to something he believed was doing more harm to society then good. Why can’t America do it? People are afraid of change and what people will think of you if you want to change something. Aren’t peoples lives more important then whether people will like you? Since gun control was put in place in Australia in 1996 Australia has experienced zero mass shootings. Think of how many lives this one man, John Howard, has saved by going against society and by standing up for what he believed was right for the people of his nation. Isn’t that what it’s all …show more content…
I’m not saying that, that’s what needs to be done right away. Even starting slowly and making changes like not selling them in the local Walmart’s. Take Canada, they still have guns, but to purchase and own a gun takes a lot more effort and is all controlled. You have to get a background check done on you so you can’t have a criminal record and all applicants must successfully complete the Canadian Firearms Safety Course before being able to own a gun.
Yes, having no guns at all would be better but how many times have you heard a major massacres happening in Canada? It’s rare because the people who own guns are have been checked for criminal activity and have to go through a process to be able to pass. America should look at Canada as an example, that you can still have a gun but you need to work for it. It’s like everyone can drive but to make things safe you need to pass a driving test and get a licence to be able to drive on the roads. Guns should be looked at in the same way.
They are a privilege, not a
Gun control has been a long debate to determine if it’s better to have stricter access to firearms. America is one of the few countries that has gun rights embedded in their constitution. But what makes the US exceptional is that it has the right to keep and bear arms, other countries do not provide the right to have access to them, but rather, the government is allowed to regulate its use. The right to bear arms has also been the cause of growing violence and crime, at least according to anti-gun lobbyists. Citizens should be aware the dangers and harm that guns present to society. Controlling the sale of firearms can greatly decrease the number of violent crimes.
respective lands, thus perhaps adopting some of their legislation will provide what is needed in
The recent terrorist situations in America could have turned out differently if the victims had been armed. There have been too many terrorist situations lately in America. Many people who are not in favor of gun rights want to make it more difficult or even impossible for citizens to purchase weapons. When stricter gun control is enforced, then citizens may not be able to protect themselves. We need to find a way to prevent gun related tragedies, but that does not involve taking guns away from citizens (Hockley). We need more guns in the hands of citizens, then they will be able to protect themselves during violent crimes (Goldberg). The call for increased gun rights in America is vital for the safety
You’re in your house and someone breaks in. Oh no, gun control laws said you can’t have a gun! You have no protection, so you’re dead within seconds. This is why the U.S. does not need tougher gun control laws. We need guns for protection, we should have the right to conceal one at all times, and the second amendment says we can have a firearm.
There are thousands of people that own guns in the United States. People have owned guns for the entire duration of American history. Even pre-dating the formation of the country, there were the Massachusetts minutemen who owned their own firearms and used them to defend themselves against oppression. Many lawmakers now want to go against these principles of allowing gun ownership for civilians (Dreier 92). They want to challenge the freedoms that have built the United States into the nation that it is today. They want to challenge the freedoms that Americans are specifically promised in the second amendment of the Constitution. All lawmakers need to stop consider the effects that will come into play with the creation of gun control laws.
The right to own guns was granted by the Second Amendment of the US Constitution (The White House). Because of this, many people that are against stricter gun controls believe that implementing laws in order to make it more difficult to purchase and own guns believe that it would be a
Gun regulation has been a controversial topic since they were first established as a weapon. People for and against gun regulation provide strong arguments for their side. Gun regulation has fluctuated over time due to changes in office. Being a democracy prevents us from having consistency. As a nation we continue to change regulations on guns because of the different views our democracy allows us to have. The main aspects pose the most problems in gun control are violence, illegal sale of guns, and mental health checks.
The Second Amendment of the United States Constitution reads that: “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.” According to Nelson Lund, “Modern debates about the Second Amendment have focused on whether it protects a private right of individuals to keep and bear arms, or a right that can be exercised only through militia organizations like the National Guard,” however, this question did not come to people’s attention long after the Bill of Rights were adopted. Although there has been a lot of controversy over whether keeping the Second Amendment would be beneficial, many believe that getting rid of it would not be a massive step forward compared to where it stands now. Stricter gun control may slow down the likelihood of people obtaining guns, but it will not reduce the amount of gun violence that happens throughout the world. What outcomes do people believe will happen if they take away our gun rights? While the Second Amendment helps in preventing the number of crimes from increasing, it has been found that armed citizens are very helpful in reducing crime. For each additional year that a concealed handgun law is in effect, the homicide rate declines by 3 percent, rape by 2 percent, and robberies by over 2 percent, according to John Lott, author of “More Guns, Less Crime: Understanding Crime and Gun Control Laws.” However, having armed citizens walking out and about it makes it very difficult for policemen to identify the criminals from the responsible citizens with legal firearms.
The history of guns has long been embedded in our society and culture. Back in the old days, people used guns for the hunting of food. Most people in those days also would use guns as their main source of income as wells as for the protection of themselves from Indians, wild animals, and other enemies. There had less rules concerning the purchasing of guns and the handling of it. However, the times are really changing and the intents of civilians to do things are sometimes not for the better. According to the viewpoint essay “Stronger Gun Control Laws Will Save Lives” by Christine Watkins, Watkins states that there are “400,000 crimes committed every year,” and “the United States has the highest rate of firearm deaths (more than 30,000 each year) among twenty-five high-income nations.” Firearms are very dangerous, and having guns does not necessarily mean that it will protect a person from enemies. It is the government’s responsibility to protect its citizens, not the citizens themselves. There would be a reduction of gun-related deaths and incidents by having stricter gun regulations and performing more thorough background checks or gun owners.
America has the highest total gun per capita in the world, which would amount to about 270,000,000 guns, or in other words 88.8 guns per 100 people (ProCon). Now, most states have common gun control laws which include background checks, waiting periods, and registration requirements to purchase or sell guns, but not all states require these. However, we have made some progress, after the Stoneman Douglas massacre, “state lawmakers around the country have introduced bills to ban bump stocks, ban assault weapons, and expand background checks...”
Banning guns will not keep the number of deaths and crimes down. Just because there is a law put in place dose not mean everyone will follow it .For instance if a gun law was made all the criminals would still have guns .That leaves us law
In America, mass shootings are increasing every year. “According to the Brady Campaign, 31 Americans are murdered with guns every day on average.” (Kelly) “On average, every day, 55 people kill themselves using a firearm and 46 people are shot, or killed, with a gun by accident.” (Kelly) “Nine out of ten Americans agree that we should have background checks nationwide.” (Kelly) “Right now, our current background check system only applies to about 60% of gun sales which mean 40% don’t do background checks.” (Kelly) “About 270 million firearms are owned by Americans, which would be about 90 guns for every 100 people (Smart Gun Laws).” Guns are getting in the hands of mentally ill people and children which just isn’t very safe.
Lastly the solution to this problem is really quite simple, no more gun control. Most people only use guns for self defense and not much actual killing. Besides criminals will just resort more violent methods. We don’t need gun control, we need more education about guns and gun safety is needed to prevent accidental deaths. Strict gun laws don’t work in Mexico, what makes you think it will be any different here? In conclusion, I believe there should be no more gun control.
If the United states of America allows for us to lose our right to bear arms it will not make a difference. The guns are being used by people who should not be allowed to use the weapon, it is not the guns fault. If we limit guns we will have a higher crime rate, history has proved that. The people who use weapons should be background checked, if they are not fit to have a weapon, they do not get one. It is not the guns
The ability to own guns is a privilege, not a right. Once a person or group of persons has abused their privilege, they do not deserve to carry on without a reduction or disbandment of the privilege. Gun control needs to be stronger to protect the people of the United States, to protect people from themselves and so much more. Constitutionally, gun control is legal and should be enforced due to the recklessness of the people.
