As a nation, we need to be thankful for our veterans. The men and women who join the military undergo nine weeks, or more, of boot camp. That right there is said to be the most laborious nine weeks of anyone’s life. Drill sergeants break them down both emotionally and physically, so they can improve upon them and make them stronger. Those are the people we should be thanking, the ones who fight to preserve our country’s freedom, equality, and the pursuit of happiness. Those are the fundamentals of our Constitution that those people fight to protect. However, after their service, it doesn’t seem like people know that.

Throughout history, many veterans suffer after fighting in wars, and millions of veterans have been killed or injured. Veterans do not necessarily get the treatments they deserve without paying a price. Taking care of veterans costs a lot and health care is needed for them. They need health care after serving, in order to treat their problems and injuries. Jobs are also important to veterans because they are jobless after fighting in wars, which leads them to be homeless. It is important for people who need help to get help. As of right now, the government has attempted to help veterans, but it may not be enough.

    It is important to remember how much of daily life is affected by the work of veterans. Walking on streets, going to school, eating at restaurants, and hanging out with friends all depend on the service of veterans. They may not receive the proper amount of recognition from the younger generations, but their work is appreciated. There have been many great wars in history of The United States of America, and these loyal, hard working and aging soldiers have come to be called veterans. A veteran is someone who has served or is serving in the armed forces. They are honored on November, 11 every year. That's how much they mean to us. We honor them because they risk their lives saving ours. They should be noticed for all their sacrifices. They should also be honored because they help keep freedom in our country. These are three reasons why they should be honored, there are many more because they do so much for us.

Then there are those veterans like myself that have been fighting to receive the benefits they deserve for years. The times for change is now, are fighting men and women deserve more for their dedicated service to our country. Without these sacrifices we would not be the United States of America.

Veterans day is one of the greatest holidays of the year. This is the holiday that honors all the brave soldiers who have fallen too give us our freedom. There are many veterans alive and dead who have served our country. There are two veterans that come to mind every time this holiday comes around. Those two veterans are my great grandfather and my grandfather.

Veterans day means a lot to me but mostly it means family. Many of my family members were veterans my father many uncles even a great grandmother. As I said many of my family were veterans and if it was not for family I would not be here. But if was not for veterans I would not be here either so if it was not for them the idea of being here would sound insane. We can keep Lincoln's promise to our veterans and their families by giving our time and donating to them. Lincoln's promise is “ To care for him who shall have borne the battle and for his widow, and his orphan.” This means if a veteran got hurt in war then someone would help them recover or take care of them. Also if a veteran dies than the Veterans Administration (VA) should help the families financially or with services like health care. We can help keep this promise by donating to the VA to help give veterans and their families money so they can recover. In your post you talked about the Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) mission is to recruit and hire the best talent. There are situations where the best intent has a reverse outcome and the best candidate is not hired or does not get consideration. I will elaborate further using my personal experience in this area. By no means am I saying the system is bad, it is a very good system overall.

Is Veteran’s Day important to you? Or is it just another dumb holiday the government wants you to celebrate? Not many people celebrate it, because they think that if you or someone you know isn’t a vet, why should you care, right? Wrong! Even though you think it’s not important, it is. These people don’t know half the people they fight for but they still fight for their freedom. This is a huge thing for them to do because, they go into the service, leave their family, and not even knowing if they’ll ever make it back home. Not only do these people fight for our freedom, but they have also helped shape out our history, &they have made a big impact on our future.

In early America times Abraham Lincoln made a promise to all veterans and their families that we should care for them. We can help to keep this promise by having parades to celebrate our appreciation for them. Also, we can buy them some household necessities for our veterans and soldiers. Lastly, we can volunteer our time to help out our veterans.

Veterans risked their lives to make my generation feel safe. Veterans gave my generation the gift of freedom. Three ways that my generation benefits from this freedom are through getting an education, freedom of speech and safety.
