CHAPTER 5
RESULT & DISCUSSION
5.1 RESULT & DISCUSSION
It can be easily understood by this paper that there are enormous benefits of using PVC in various applications. Setting up an enterprise of PVC furniture can give us high returns at low input cost. Initial set-up cost of PVC furniture enterprise is also less as compared to other enterprises of same level. This project requires less area because of its simple fabrication process and less machines required with reduced inventory. Dedicating ourselves towards protecting environment it can save thousands/lakhs of trees which would otherwise be used in making furniture. Also precious earth metals can be saved for more purposeful use by using PVC in many applications. Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) pipe are leading the way in replacing the various other materials that have been previously used in pipe construction; they have only been scarcely used in the past, however over the past 30 years they have proven themselves to be more than worthy replacements for the conventional materials such as steel and iron.
PVC has a myriad of advantages over traditionally used materials. For starters, PVC and PE pipe are very durable materials; they are just as strong as iron, which is crucial due to pipes’ exposure to both internal and external pressures. However, arguably two of their most important attributes are that they neither corrode, nor do they have a

In this essay, I will describe how PVC cabling would be inadequate for the task at hand. Standard PVC costs less, but it would be a safety hazard in the event of a fire. There are better rated cabling options that would be beneficial in this scenario. In fact, some city codes mandate this as a requirement in certain buildings. Therefore, I will explain a better option to consider than standard PVC cabling.
The pros and cons of the current Alcan technology infrastructure seemed to be heavier on the con side than the pro side. While the intent was to better the organization with the functions that were required on the IT side, however the result was something much different than what they anticipated. “Should you spend most of your technology budget on infrastructure, hosted applications, custom line-of-business applications, or what? It depends on the industry that the business is in. Generally, most businesses spend around half of their technology budget on infrastructure—computers, networking equipment, and Internet Service Providers” (I.T. in Business, n.d.). Mistakes were made in decisions concerning the technology infrastructure of
While PVC will last for years, it is not quite as durable as aluminium is for skylights. Aluminium with outlast PVC since PVC can start to degrade when it reaches a certain age.
At the same time, pipeline safety regulations have become more complete, driven by better understanding of materials available and better techniques to operate and maintain pipelines” (“Why Do We Need Pipelines” 1). Since the 1830’s pipelines have come a long ways. Now instead of being made of iron, they are manufactured with very strong steel.
The content of these pipelines is essential to the society but it is often under pressures which present a real danger to life and property. All Humankind are living with the presence of an unseen danger which could have catastrophic consequences such as the leaking that have been experienced in recent years in Russia and many oil producing countries that led to environmental disasters because of corrosion. So, to ensure the reliability of the pipelines, which ensures the safety of people and the content of these pipelines, corrosion controlling technology should be presented and studied. This shows the importance of corrosion monitoring (Alexander, 2007). Another source estimates the cost of corrosion in the USA alone as 276 billion dollars yearly and implies that the current study of corrosion control showed that technological changes have provided many new ways to prevent corrosion. The source suggests that all industrial facilities should put their hand together and try to develop and carry out a national agenda to reduce the economic impact of corrosion. And says that there is no simple solution or single strategy that will accomplish this goal; rather, progress can be made on several fronts, any of which will have significant benefits (Cost of Corrosion, 2010).
Capital investment needs for the nation’s wastewater and stormwater systems are estimated to total $298 billion over the next twenty years. Pipes represent the largest capital need, comprising three quarters of total needs. Fixing and expanding the pipes will address sanitary sewer overflows, combined sewer overflows, and other pipe-related issues. This industry has been more aggressive and customer
Both natural and synthetic polymers are a vital part of our daily lives. Natural polymers are found in rubber, skin, hair etc. Synthetic polymers are found in nylon, polyester, plastic, chewing gum etc. This lab is demonstrating the properties of the common synthetic polymer polyvinyl alcohol (PVA). It is often used as a thickener or stabilizer cosmetics but also in paper cloths, films and cements.
The vision at PVC pipes maker Finolex Industries is to see that plumbing becomes a viable lifetime profession for artisans. The company is leaving no stone unturned in its effort to create a pool of skilled plumbers in sync with the industry requirements. And, in the bargain has been able to create a strong brand recall among the plumbers community.
Galvanized water pipes exist in many older homes. They are produced by adding a layer of zinc over iron or steel, and over time, the outer covering eventually wears away. The inner layer is susceptible to rust-forming materials inside the pipe.
Although pipe materials will last a long time, eventually every home will require repiping. When that time comes for your home, you will need to choose from the pipe materials available. Some homeowner's have a preference, and consider no others. Other homeowner's may want a budget friendly choice, and savvy homeowners' know the factors involved in selecting a material is the budget, water chemistry, the design characteristics of the home, such as the level of insulation and the environment. Two popular options include copper and PEX pipe. Comparing the pros and cons can assist you in the decision of which is right for your home’s plumbing in Houston.
Reliant was expanding its manufacturing operations in the production of plastic pipe and pipe fittings, particularly in Europe. The use of plastic as a substitute for iron or copper pipe was gaining rapid acceptance in the construction trades, and the European markets were significantly more progressive in adopting the plastic pipe. Reliant already had developed a small polyvinyl chloride production facility at Abbeville, France, and Pacific constructed a pipeline from its petrochemical plant at Antwerp to Abbeville.
Polyethylene is used numerous applications like plastic bag, water bottle and takeaway containers. This plastic eating bacteria can biodegrade the plastic at 0.13mg a day. It is estimated that it might take 100 to 400 years to degrade the polyethylene in landfills9. It is found that the enzymes in the worms can digest this chemical and it is safe the environment. Since plastic takes a long time to decompose, its carbon footprint involves the creating new landfills and incinerations. Both can be harmful to the environment8. This engineering solutions can be used to convert and biodegrade the plastic in a safe way.
Effective January 1, 2016, Woodhaven will begin operating as Woodhaven Furniture Industries, LLC. As part of this conversions, all Woodhaven associates will be assigned new PSID designations in Ceridian. Below is the mapping for the conversion.
PVC and CPVC is a type of plastic pipe with an established reputation of reliability when installed properly. The joints are glued, rather than soldered as in copper pipe. As with soldering, proper joining is necessary to ensure reliability. It is not recommended to install PVC or CPVC in outdoor locations exposed to the sun's ultraviolet rays, or in locations where it is vulnerable to freezing.
