Benito Mussolini: One of Europe’s most powerful Dictators. Benito Mussolini was born on July 29, 1883 in Dovia Di Predappio, Flori, Italy. He lived as an Italian politician, journalist, and leader of the National Fascist Party, which he created in 1919. Benito’s father Alessandro remained a blacksmith and socialist and his mother Rosa was a schoolteacher. Mussolini followed his father’s footsteps in becoming a socialist. His parents feared that Benito would become mute from not being able to speak properly. But thanks to his mother’s patience and care he became extremely bright. During his youth Benito was intelligent, however was boisterous and disobedient. He got expelled from many schools for bullying and defying school authorities. In 1901 he acquired a teaching certificate and worked as a schoolmaster. In 1902 he went to Switzerland to promote socialism, then got caught by the Swiss authorities and soon expelled from the country. When he came back to Italy in 1904 he was imprisoned and momentarily after his release, he became an editor to the newspaper organization called “Avanti” (forward), which gave him the perfect opportunity to influence people on socialism. Benito, at first, did not want Italy participating in World War I, but then saw the war as an opportunity for the country to become powerful. This idea of Benito got him expelled from the socialist party. In 1915 he joined the Italian army and fought in the front lines until he became wounded and discharged.
He was born in San Paulo Guelatao in the Mexican State of Oaxaca. His parents were Indians, and he was raised a shepherd boy. His parents died when he was three, leaving Benito to his unmarried uncle. His uncle believed that the only way for him to better his place in society was to become a priest. So, on December 18, 1818, Benito at the age of twelve ran away to the city to learn. He entered the city penniless, and didn’t even speak the language.
Benito Mussolini was the founder of Italian Fascism and premier of Italy from 1922-43 and ruling as a dictator from about 1925. In 1919
Adolf Hitler was born 1908 in Austria to his mother, Klara ,and his drunk of a father, Alois(Schlesinger 7). He deeply loved his mother and worshiped his father. Though it may be thought otherwise, Hitler had a fairly ordinary childhood in Austria. His life as a young man showed no evidence of what he would grow up to be, but that doesn't mean he didn't have Demons. His father was a tyrant. He ruled his family with force and aggression, and regularly beat Adolf. He would often whip the family dog till it wet the floor. Alois Hitler died when Adolf was fourteen. With his father no longer there to enforce good grades, he started to study less and fail more. When he turned sixteen, he gave up completely, and dropped out.
During the Second World War, Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini was the leader of the Italian Nationalist Fascist government. He was head of the Italian government from 1922 till 1943. The significance of Mussolini is that he played a key role acting as the Italian Prime Minister and established a totalitarian regime, during this time, as the unchallenged supreme leader, known as ‘Il Duce’. Fascism consisted of many contributors of which Mussolini with all his quirks was the key to most of its failures and successes, making him the most significant player that is worthy of being investigated. This topic is worthy of being investigated as Mussolini made a lot of decisions that lead to the death of many, but the question as to
Both of these political leaders took over and used the ideas of fascism as their type of government, the people gravitated towards them especially during times of need. To start, Benito Mussolini who was a newspaper editor and politician who pledged to rescue Italy during their time of desperate need. Fascism was on the rise in Italy, it was fueled by their disappointment and failure to win large territorial gains. People gravitated towards the new and vastly improving idea of Fascism. Italians wanted a leader who would take action and they found their answer in Benito Mussolini. Mussolini had vowed to provide strong leadership to the Italian people during this time. Mussolini had founded the Fascist Party in the year of 1919. When Italy’s economic problems continued to worsen, Mussolini’s power would considerably grow. Mussolini’s number one weapon during his rise to power was fear, he used the fear of people to take control over them. Soon thereafter, Mussolini and 30,000 of his Fascist supporters marched to Rome demanding the King step down and hand over his total power to Mussolini. The King gave in to their demands and gave Benito Mussolini full control over the Italian government. Mussolini became the Il Duce, or leader, and he made fascism the ruling political party in
Benito Mussolini: Benito Amilcare Andrea Mussolini was an Italian politician and leader of the National Fascist Party, ruling the country from 1922 to his ousting in 1943. In 1926 Mussolini seized total power as dictator and ruled Italy as Il Duce from 1930 to 1943.
World War II, which only lasted about five years, changed the course of history forever, and affected millions of lives. Among the major nations that were involved in the war, Benito Mussolini and his Italian army sought to settle their differences with many nations. Benito’s fascist views, his idea of a nation built by one race, and his relationship with Adolf Hitler ultimately led to his involvement in the war. His responsibility, in essence, was to ally himself with the superpowers of the world, and lead his people into a war that they could not fight.
No one took him seriously and people also thought that Benito Mussolini and the fascists were not a threat in Italy either. Fascism was very closely related to communism. In 1922 his followers helped him become the leader of Italy and he became a dictator like Hitler in Germany. Mussolini promised to restore the Roman Empire but started in Africa where there was the least resistance. Another dictator was Adolf Hitler.
Benito Mussolini and his creation of Fascism was the glue that held Italy together. Fascism promised national unity and condemned the Socialist party. To understand how Fascism became powerful within Italy, it is imperative to acknowledge the driving force behind this regime. To put it bluntly, violence played an essential role in the development of the Fascist party. Mussolini’s practice of fierceness was able to create a formidable system of government that did not tolerate weakness. In 1919, Benito Mussolini give an Afternoon speech, where he stressed the difference between Socialism and Fascism. Here, he states, “We declare war, against socialism, not because it is socialism, but because it opposes nationalism” (Stone 2013, 38).
"My objective is simple. I want to make Italy great, respected and feared," (UXL Biographies 1). This was a quote from one of the most famous dictators in Italy, Benito Mussolini. Before World War One, Mussolini was director of the Avanti, a socialist newspaper in Milan, but he began to disagree with socialists so he broke ties and joined the military, reaching the rank of corporal. After he was discharged from the army, he created the fascist party and worked towards dismantling all socialist institutions (UXL Biographies 1). Mussolini was a powerful public speaker and delivered speeches mainly about how great he would make Italy. This allowed him to gain the public’s trust, leading to him becoming Prime Minister and later the dictator of Italy (UXL Biographies 1). In April 1945, Mussolini and his mistress were fleeing anti-fascist partisans disguised as German soldiers. When they were crossing the Swiss border, him and his mistress were captured by partisans and the next day were shot and killed. (Klein 1). The assassination of Benito Mussolini was justified because of he adopted Nazi ideals about Jews and he ultimately initiated the demise of his country and followers. Despite this many believe that Mussolini actually helped Italy.
Benito Mussolini’s major problem was that he was twisted in the mind. Mussolini really thought he could change Italy by using violence, which was wrong thinking. I do not personally think it is all Mussolini’s fault because it was the way he grew up. Do not get me wrong he was raised in a household were abuse was going on but his father did not show him any type of affection. I believe that if Benito’s father would have showed him love and told him be a wise person he would have been better off in my opinion. However, since that did not happen Benito had to put this façade on for the public to mask his insecurities, and his darkest thoughts. I think that Benito would have been able to fix this if he would have had good men friends to
“Benito Mussolini was an intelligent person because as a youth he received a teaching certificate in 1901”(http://www.biography.com/people/benito-mussolini-9419443). “His father's name was Alessandro and his mother's name was Rosa”(http://www.biography.com/people/benito-mussolini-9419443). “In 1902 he moved to Switzerland and lived there for a while.(http://www.biography.com/people/benito-mussolini-9419443). In 1919 he created the Facist Party and he was killed by his own people on April 28”
Mussolini never had the disposition to be nonviolent, as it seems. When he was just a boy, he had to get expelled twice for stabbing a schoolmate with his penknife. Yikes!
Italy was a poor nation. Although Italy was one of the victorious Allies in World War I, Italians believed that their country had been betrayed by the peace settlement of 1919 by being denied the territory and status it deserved. A recently created electoral system based on universal manhood suffrage had produced parliamentary chaos and ministerial instability. The lack of coherent political programs only heightened the general disapproval with government that accompanied the peace negotiations. People were beginning to doubt the parliamentary regime’s hold on the future. It was under those circumstances that the Fascist party, led by Benito Mussolini (1883–1945), entered politics in 1920 by attacking the large Socialist and Popular (Catholic) parties.
Mussolini was the starter of the Italian fascist movement. Mussolini writes a very romanticized version of what fascism really was like in his article The Political and Social Doctrine of Fascism. From the definition of fascism I presented in the introduction Mussolini seems much more peaceful, he does mention violence but not to the extent it was used. Mussolini did talk a lot about how men should not indulge themselves “well-being = happiness, which would reduce men to the level of animals, caring for only one thing, to be fat and well-fed, and would thus humanity to purely physical existence.” That is the harshest part of this article I have found. Considering the way Fascism traveled and got twisted into the ruling from men like Stalin and Hitler.
