Kurt was floating in the middle of the sea on a plank of wood. His thoughts were not on his empty stomach, his ripped clothes or on his pruny skin. His thoughts were on something even he didn’t fully know. But, how exactly did Kurt get himself into this appalling situation in the first place? By surprise, a storm hit when he had been sailing with his crewmates to Krawk Island. The sky was dark and the thunder roared, his crew was searching for him, yelling his name and trying to spot him through the harsh waves, although, they were not successful. Two and a half days ago, since he had last eaten or had a chance to drink water. Kurt ached to be found soon, as he knew if not, he would risk death. He was pulled aboard as quickly as possible and was laid on a soft blanket. A white grundo quickly helped Kurt to some water. It was only until the cold liquid trickled down his throat that Kurt finally accepted that his experience alone on the sea had been real and not just a dream. “Shh! He is trying to tell us something!” yelled one of the sailors who saw and helped Kurt aboard the ship. “I just hear moaning.” said another. Kurt mumbled something trying to stay strong, his eyes tightly closed, and in an instant everyone on board fell silent all leaning in to hear what Kurt was trying to say. “I… I saw...” he whispered weakly. “Who did you see Kurt?” cried Bleis, who had been a shipmate of Kurt since time. “The Beautiful Faerie.” he answered. “She… She helped me….” The crew looked up at each other, none of them quite sure of how to respond. The Faeries were beautiful… but there was one Faerie who was called “The Beautiful Faerie”. Of course, that couldn’t be who Kurt had meant. She was just who people talked about, a fictional character. Kurt was trying to speak again and they all looked down at him and leaned in even closer this time, all secretly wondering if spending almost three days floating in the sea, alone, and
