Candidate character sketch Bernie Sanders Today I decided to talk about Bernie Sanders. This because I feel that he is one of the most popular candidates and I want to know more about him including his voice and his values and causes that he supports and pursues. Bernie is also a Democratic Socialist which confuses people. I see that Bernie Sanders has a very powerful voice his tone is mostly serious and he is always facing the camera and his viewers this makes him be a man of authority who is listened. His voice is always changing in terms of volume he raises it when he is finishing a sentence and this makes his speech more enjoyable; it’s not monotone at all. He also stops himself at times, this I believe he does to add more power and meaning to his words. Bernie is a strong backer of the environment he wants to invest more money into renewable energies so we can live a habitable planet for the future generations. Sanders has good body language, he is always moving his arms and hands to indicate the gravity of a problem or the degree of the problem he shows how big or impactful a problem is with his body language especially his hands, …show more content…
One such case is when he was asked: what would he do if a conflict or war come to the United states? To which he responded that he has talked about this issue before and advised other presidents to act. In this example he is ignoring the question and referenced an isolated example which would be an anecdotal fallacy. Bernie also appealed to emotion in some of his statements. He said that if we didn’t help ourselves and help the middle class the “millionaires and billionaires” would take matters into their own hands ruining the lives of our families. Another logical fallacy that Bernie committed is ad hominem, what he did is that he stated that he is the only one of the candidates that is not a millionaire and that he did much more. He attacked his rivals with
Bernie Sanders ran for political office in the town of Burlington, Vermont in 1981 and was elected mayor. He created many projects to improve the town in ways of housing, taxation, child care, women’s rights, and youth programs. In this same context, he created the Burlington Community Land Trust, an award winning project. He has also shown that he is no stranger to competing with those who have money on their side. In 2006 Bernie Sanders became a candidate for Vermont’s seat in the senate, running against the richest man in the state. To the voters of Vermont, upbringing, education, and political awareness mattered more than wealth. Despite the odds, Sanders won the seat, proving that money is irrelevant in a truly democratic race.
The construction of the pipeline faces various ethical concerns. First and foremost, the pipeline will cross lands owned by the native Sioux Tribe which is complete violation of property rights. If a party is not willing to let someone use their land, they should not be forced to do it. This native tribe has had a rough past as they were deprived off their lands and taking over their leftover property would cause further resentment. These lands consists of burial grounds and cultural heritage, which is sacred to a lot of native tribes.
Bernie Sanders is a senator, politician, and political activist. He has held several different political offices including Mayor of Burlington, Vermont, and a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives. Economically, Sanders describes himself as a democratic socialist. Throughout his political career, Sanders has considered himself an independent, but during the 2016 presidential election, he ran as a democratic candidate. According to several polls, Bernie Sanders was considered the most popular senator in 2015 and 2016. Even after losing the 2016 presidential election, he encouraged his supporters to continue the "political revolution" that his campaign started in the country.
Bernie cares about education, he plans to reduce class size to 18 children in grades 1-3. Bernie also plans to do away with fill-in-the-bubble standardized tests. He voted yes on protecting ocean, coastal, and Great Lakes ecosystems.
A vote for Bernie Sanders is a vote for free education, reasonably paying jobs, and universal healthcare. [I need to add another sentence right here]. There are many reasons why Bernie Sanders is the best candidate for president based on his policies on college, jobs, and healthcare.
Bernie Sanders is a Democratic candidate for President of the United States. In 1981, Bernie was elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont where he served 5 terms. In 1990, he’s elected to the United States’ House of Representatives on his second try he would be reelected 7 times. In 2006, he was elected to the U.S. Senate after 16 years as Vermont’s sole congressman in the House of Representatives. Bernie is now serving his second term in the U.S. Senate after winning re-election in 2012.
In conclusion, Bernie Sanders would make a terrific president. Out of all the candidates he is definitely the most sane but besides that he believes in the things that actually matter. Not only does he support the poor and middle class but his proposals and plans could work in making this country
Bernie Sanders is a U.S senator from Vermont. He is running for president of the United States of America for the Democratic Party. He came to test appeal with African Americans. So I was very interesting to see if he could appeal most of my fellow students. To tell the truth I believe that he did really win over the votes of most of my fellow students. Unlike most students I wasn’t really won over. He talk bout how he wanted to change minimum wage to $15. That’s great that he wasn’t to rise it so high. I want to know how was he going to rise it that high? What going to be the cause of him rising the minimum wage so high. But everyone shout with praised because the think more money makes everything better. I sat in my sit thinking what going
Time magazine shows how much popularity and support Sanders has received (“The Gospel” 34). A politician who is not afraid to stand up for what he or she trusts will make this nation grow for the future. Bernie Sanders shows this nation that if freedom and equality is given regardless of what color skin you are, where you come from, or how much money and power you have, will make a better
When you hear the word “Democratic Socialist”, who pops up in your mind? Most people probably think of Bernie Sanders. He is an amazing Democratic Socialist, but what was it that helped him make it up to his point? What is his life story? How would the world be without him? What is his personality? Because we all know you don’t just wake up and become an extraordinary Democrat and presidential candidate.
The 2016 presidential election is shaping up to be one of the most important elections in recent memory. As all pundits know, the media plays a very large part in shaping the way voters view the candidates. Much time has been spent discussing Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Vermont), a leading candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination and one of the most polarizing figures on the political scene today. Some journalists say he is a modern prophet; others believe he is an unelectable far-left ideologue.
Politics is a very important thing that runs one of the greatest countries, which is the U.S.A. In this year 's Presidential Election the main candidates are Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, and Hilary Clinton. Bernie Sanders is the best choice for America. Bernie Sanders was born in 1941 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated in the University of Chicago. Bernie believed in Civil Rights and was part of CORE(Congress of Racial Equality). He participated in the March on Washington. Bernie became the mayor of Burlington, Virginia in 1981 and served for four terms until 1989. In 1990 he made it to the U.S. House of Representatives until 2007. In 2015 he announced he would run for Democratic presidential nomination. He now competes against the Republican Donald Trump. He is a better candidate because he believes in racial justice, combating climate change, and a fair immigration policy.
Rearing near towards the 2016 presidential election, the most popular candidates are Bernie Sanders, Hillary Clinton, and Donald Trump. The most likely Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, has many radical views on certain issues. For the Democratic Party, Hillary Clinton seems most likely to be the Democratic presidential nominee, but her views on issues don’t seem to be the best. There are many general similarities between Hillary Clinton’s and Bernie Sanders’s views. However, there are certain areas where Bernie’s ideas seem to be the most beneficial.
The 2016 Presidential Election is coming sooner and sooner as each day passes, and it’s approaching the point where all eligible voters need to become informed about the each of the Democrat and Republican candidates running in the 2016 Presidential bid. The voter should be aware of what each candidate represents and what their values are and from that the voter can decide which candidate suits their beliefs best and vote for said candidate when the time comes. In this upcoming election, in my opinion, the candidate that wants the best for the majority of the citizens of the United States is Senator Bernie Sanders. His views in politics, connect with many poor and middle class families because all throughout his political career and his 2016
For those who can’t recognize the disadvantages blacks have, any movement that call for equal rights and black mobility may be seen as an extreme action trying to cause conflict. For leaders who advocated for change like Malcolm X or Jesse Jackson were labeled in negative terms, but they were trying to obtain the same rights that whites have. In the case of Malcolm X, he said “We assert the right of self-defence by whatever means necessary, and reserve the right of maximum retaliation against our racist oppressors, no matter what the odds against us are” (Malcolm X, 747). What Malcolm X is advocating for reminds me of Sylvester Carrier actions in the movie Rosewood. Sylvester was viewed as an out of control black man with a gun during the shootout at his house. In truth, he was trying to protect his family
