Andrea Gibson’s’ poem ‘Letter to the Playground Bully’ is an unforgettable poem about bullying. She cleverly crafts a poem from the perspective of an 8 and a half year old girl who is trying to confront the playground bully through a letter. The poem’s sole purpose is to expose the hardships and reality for victims of bullying. She achieves this by making the speaker a younger version of herself. She wrote this poem in order to perform in front of high school and elementary school students to try and stop bullying. Gibson explores unfamiliar territory related to bullying in a straightforward, sweet, yet different approach.
Bullies are lurking everywhere - online, at school, perhaps, even at parks or shopping centres. Kate Miller-Heidke released the song “Caught In The Crowd”, on the 27th of February 2009. The author of the song, Kate, said that she wrote the song because she was bullied when she was at school, from pre-school all the way to year eleven. “Caught In The Crowd”, is about a boy named James. In the song, James was experiencing bulling, and Kate did nothing to help him, rather, she turned around and just walked away.
Cyber bullying and face-to-face bullying are to major concerns in today’s society, the movie Mean Girls and the novel Destroying Avalon have themes about bullying in them. The texts show us how more people can be affected by certain types of bullying as well as how it can change behaviour and how bullying can build up to physical violence.
Bullying is a very touchy subject for people to talk about. It deals with a lot of mental, physical, and emotional damage. Bullying is violent and unwelcoming behavior among various different aged children in school that involves a lack of power for one kid and a lot of power for another. The behavior of a bully is repeated numerous times over time and becomes more aggressive as the path goes on. The bully has an imbalance of power over the one being bullied. They bully uses their power for giving out embarrassing information, control, physical strength, popularity, and harming others. Kids who are being bullied and bullying others have serious lasting problems throughout their lifetime. Bullying is becoming a major issue in today 's society and somebody needs to make a stop to it.
If you’ve been in school, then you probably have experienced bullying. There are many parts in Freak the Mighty that include bullying. Max and Freak, the main characters, experience it when they encounter a person named Tony D. Max and Freak were chased by him and ran them into a muddy pond. Max has been bullied because he looks so similar to his dad, and his dad has done a crime, but they are so similar that people think he’ll do the same. Max has also been kidnapped by his own dad! From these, the characters have to learn lessons from their experiences.

Have you ever wondered about the positive effects and negative effects of bullying? Freak the Mighty is a book were the two main characters deal with bullying. They use their friendship to help each other when they needed it most. Whatever situation they were in the always had each other to see the bright side of things. Through their bullying experiences they show hope, disappointment, and goal setting.
According to the article “Tales of Bullying,” students can become a bad bully because you might have your own group of friends you want to impress or try to show off for, or you might have something going on at home. According to paragraph 3 in “Meet the New Sheriff” kids may get bullied because of their hair and/or what they wear. All around the wonderful world good kids are ending their own good lives over bullying. A bad bully is far worse than a lazy bystander because mean bully’s cause suicides, bullies cause/have low self-esteem, not to mention they suffer a large amount of punishment.

According to the text, “Tales of Bullying,” “Any ongoing behavior that is meant to make someone else feel bad is bullying.” Kids may become a bully because they have trouble at home. Kids may be bullied because they are different. I think being a bully is worse than a bystander because they are the people actually causing the pain, they could be blamed for suicide, and lose trust. Don’t get me wrong being a bystander is a terrible thing, but I think bulling is worse because they are the kids actually causing pain on another kid.
The audience for my paper is those who attend school, whether it me middle school, high school, or college as well as the general public. The readers of my paper are those who may be struggling with bullying or want more insight on the topic. Also, they will be open-minded to my opinions and arguments, while still learning a bit about bullying as a whole. My writing will be in an informational form and will not need to use a formal voice. I can relate to those who are reading who may be struggling with bullying so I will use a conversational voice.
Bullying is an act of someone who believes they are superior to a person hurting them emotionally infiltrating their insecurities, damaging their reputation, and destroying their confidence. Andrea Gibson shows these characteristics of bullying in her acclaimed poem A letter to the Playground Bully from Andrea, Age 8 ½. She yearns to end conflicts with the bully, but also herself. She uses figurative language and repetition to highlight and resolve her complications mentally and emotionally.
“Be careful what you say. You can say something hurtful in ten seconds, but ten years later, the wounds are still there” (Joel Osteen). The bullying rates have increased tremendously since 2000. This is likely because of the increase in technology that anyone can practically do anything without others knowing. But this may not be the case, it could just be that people, since 2000, have been treated differently in this century than in the past. But why would this be?
