Beta Club Essay

Membership in Alpha Lambda Delta was the catalyst for a new chapter of my life. It completely changed the shape of my undergraduate career and I could not be more grateful. Upon entering ALD in my second semester as a Freshman I was given my first chance at a leadership role. This would be first time that I was offered a role in which I would have the chance to lead others, to serve on an executive board, and to coordinate chapter events. When ALD offered it to me, I grabbed the chance. I had always been involved while in high school and for the past semester I had entered student organizations where my voice was not heard. I may not be the best candidate for the next member of the National Junior Honor Society, but I certainly believe I could be a great addition! Overall, I am a great learner, leader and student. I have not had any major discipline problems since kindergarten! I have always had top grades and have been top of my class at some point or another. I have good grades that I always maintain and standards that I never lower. My character is not the best but it certainly isn’t the worst. I try to help out in my school or community when possible but regrettably I have not given much of my time to my school or community. At the end of the day, I am a good student, friend, son and brother.

The main point of Beta Club is to give hardworking students a chance to serve their community and further their chances with college. This core purpose represents two of my most important ideas: working hard and helping others.

The Virtual Private Network will require a login each time a user needs to access the system implying that all users will be assigned passwords and usernames. The system will also keep in detail anyone who has logged in as a security precaution in order to keep track of who is going into their system and at what times.

My most meaningful moment in Gamma Phi Beta was the day I was elected Chapter President. Throughout my life, I have never been very confident in myself or my abilities. During the whole election process, I was expressing a lot of self doubt. I didn’t know if I could hold a position, let alone help lead our chapter. My hesitation soon disappeared when my sisters wanted me to become president. Without my sisters supporting me and encouraging me, I would not be as a happy as I am, nor would I be as confident as I am today. I believe that I would be a good representative for the National Junior Honor Society because I represent the five qualities of a member of the organization: scholarship, leadership, service, citizenship, and character. I have leadership skills from programs like Girl Scouts, softball, and Student Council. I’ve volunteered in many service projects including Christmas bags for foster children, playing piano at a hospice center, volunteering at a food bank, teaching brownies (2nd to 3rd graders) how to camp at a Girl Scout camp, passing out flowers to rooms in a hospice center, and passing out care packages to the homeless. I have amazing citizenship skills such as following rules and laws in not only the classroom but in my community, teaching

I would like to join Beta Club to further my leadership skills and to work with teenagers my age to help fundraise for the needy. It’s important to help out our community locally. This means both actively helping out at different agencies such as soup kitchens and animal shelters, as well as helping to keep our environment clean. By working together, I think we will all be able to reach our goals and will be able to impact our community. Along the way we will help others and gain valuable life skills.

A club that I had always wanted to be apart of since my freshman year of highschool was The Beta Club.

Beta Club provides students opportunities to serve their local and global communities through the donation of time, objects, and money. The planning for my personal service project began my first year in the club and has continued through this academic school year. Many of the projects in my school’s chapter of Beta Club serve the local community only and have no global impact. I began to search for organizations which work to benefit those in need across the globe and found Kiva. Individuals in every country can request loan amounts which are funded through micro loans by multiple donors. Loan requests range from agriculture and education to retail and food.

If I were to be accepted into the National Junior Honor Society, which is one of the highest honors that can be awarded, I would consider myself to be a very lucky person. Throughout my life, I've always considered myself as someone with good character and values.I've always prided myself in always doing the right thing and helping others. In addition, I view myself as a leader, not a follower. Being a leader comes naturally to me. I'm a leader amongst my friends and siblings. They always look up to me when they have a problem or when they need advice. I have a good standard education with an A average which will help me achieve my goals in the future.

Every member understands their duties as Ivy League black male and how to use their status to better the situation of others. I chose to pursue Alpha because they exhibit the true meaning of brotherhood and thrive in every endeavor they make. As I continue to learn more and more about the organization, I find other reasons why I want to be a member. They are always giving one hundred percent to everything that they do. Gosh! After the Fresher’s week got over, the first week of the term has begun. Now, there would be series of lectures to attend, studying lists and preparing for seminars. Currently, the hangover of Fresher’s week has to be dealt with. Everyone has settled down in their own friends group. The aroma of friendliness has evaporated from the air. Just because the Fresher’s week has ended, doesn’t mean you’re in absolute darkness.
