Ever since I was six years old, the year I was baptized, I have been on fire for the Lord. I attended a Christian school for eight years and have always been very involved at my church. My first experience outside of my “Christian bubble” was when I went to a public high school. For the first time in my life, I was out of my comfort zone. Being at a public school challenged my faith, strengthened my leadership skills, and forced me to branch out and meet people I would have never encountered otherwise. However, even though being at a public school helped strengthen my faith in ways I would have never guessed, I believe attending a Christian university—like Liberty—is the best choice to further my education. Going to college is new and exciting, but it can also be a demanding and intimidating experience. Being so far away from home, in a different environment,
Three years ago I went to an International House of Prayer (IHOP) convention in Kansas City, KS and it changed my life. The experience involved three days of prayer, fellowship, worship, witnessing, and healing. Prophesying was taking place and I was there to witness it. The Holy Spirit was alive in that place and the energy was almost overwhelming. Miracles were happening all around me. Children were getting up out of their wheelchairs and walking. Some people were blind. Through prayer they could suddenly see. The weak became strong, and the broken became healed. I thought to myself “What a magnificent God”! That moment changed my perspective completely. The truth is, the power of God is in each of us Christians and the same God that was
Proceeding, I set up an additional interview to find out about the current evaluation process that the program is currently using. I hope that the information will help me as I select the assessment tools that I will use. Some of the questions that I was thinking of asking were:
When I originally was registering my class choices for the Fall 2016 semester, I considered English 111 to be an undemanding course that I could pass without a lot of effort on my behalf. I had no trouble passing prior English courses, years ago, so I felt this course would be similar. What I had not anticipated was how much I honestly could learn, such as: how you should properly cite sources, how you should suitably prove your thesis and how you can accurately set up the flow of a paper. Although, the most informative part of English 111, for me, has been absorbing all the information on the different styles of papers that can be written. I believe that recognizing the usefulness of distinctive varieties of papers will help me throughout
In today’s extremely competitive, job-scarce economy, having a college degree is now a steadfast requirement when applying to even entry-level professional jobs. Choosing a college has always been a challenging task for high school seniors, but it is now fraught with stress and anxiety for nearly every adult who seeks to further their education. Questions abound: what school offers the exact program I desire? What school is in the best location, or has the best campus? What school feels ‘right’?
Did you know that, “54% of homeless shelters are youth shelter”?(Emergency homeless shelters in the GTA)The majority of Toronto’s homeless community is youth based, so care for them is extremely important. Their future is on the line if they do not get the help that they need. Covenant House and Horizons for Youth (HFY) are two very popular youth shelters, but the things that are important when a youth is looking for a youth shelter are; what programs they offer, the location, and the choice between an abstinence based system or a harm reduction program. Covenant House offers the superior service when it comes to all of these things.
The first day I spoke with one of Bethel's recruiters, Alexis Griggs, one automatically knew that this was the college for me. Though being able to attend my classes virtually had a major influence on why I chose Bethel, there was other things that persuaded me such as the staff and their warm welcome.
The United States is one of the top nations with a child abandonment and abuse issue. Every year in the United States there are more than 3 million reports of child abandonment, neglect and abuse. Today there are 329,957 people under the age of twenty-one reported homeless because they are kicked out, “age out” of the foster system or have run away from home. The most common reason on why these kids have become homeless was because they were abandoned by their parents and family members. Many of these kids find it hard to care for themselves socially and financially
I have finally arrived. My palms are clammy and nervousness is coursing through my veins. Never have I ever been away from home, but here I am, at William Woods University, one hundred miles from comfort, for a week-long camp hosted by MASC (Missouri Association of Student Councils). After driving into the campus, a ginormous white dome sits on the right, with a crowd of people in front of it. Driving closer to the massive igloo, I notice six strange teenagers with wacky hats on dancing to the usual “Party in the U.S.A” and banging on windows when cars drove up to them. Of course, driving up to them, they began hitting our windows, as if I was an A-list celeb. After passing by them, my nervousness transitions to excitement; them and the
Many financiers these days come from privileged backgrounds. Finance is usually associated with the stock market, high pay, prestigious colleges, and something that only the middle and upper class can take advantage of. We rarely, if ever hear stories of many ambitious homeless people that succeed in the field of finance. It is indeed rare, but it is highly possible for them to succeed with the support of the community. This is why we, The Covenant House, are here to help teenagers get their life back on track to succeed in what they enjoy doing.
Due to recent upset at the Roanoke branch, I am requesting employment records and payroll documentation specifically for the creative team members. Over the past few months, the creative team has not been compensated for the overtime they have worked. Although this has never been an issue before, we must do our best to ensure that our employees receive the adequate pay they deserve. Phoenix advertisements has always taken care of their employees.
I want to attend Bethel University because I believe that this would be the best college to grow my faith. I not only want to better my understanding about Jesus Christ, but I also want to be able to spread his message to others. Bethel University seems like a college that encourages the growth and understanding of Jesus Christ and his message to its students. I trust that this will be a college that teaches and encourages me to incorporate the message of Jesus Christ into my daily life as I grow. Not only do I feel that Bethel University will be a school that can give me an exceptional education, but also I feel that Bethel University can teach me to incorporate Jesus Christ into my career after
In CAB 100 this week, the first activity was listening and watching the first group's presentation. The second group presented a PowerPoint on problem solving and decision making. After the first presentation we took a break and took the second exam. Shortly after the exam the next group presented a PowerPoint on stress management. We learned about the C.A.L.M. method and how it helped relieved stress. The C.A.L.M method stands for Change, Accept, Let Go, and Manage. Once the group was finished, we were then dismissed from class for the week. I felt each group did a good job on their presentations and I enjoyed listening and watching their PowerPoints.
Bethel University provided me with a sense of family. I felt that the first time I spoke with my recruiter. I also love that Bethel University offers students the best of both a traditional and online learning experience. Bethel’s success program is really what made the decision for me.
For this Learning Journal you will write a paper about your own experiences. Using reflective writing consider the following:
