The controversy over Melania Trump's speech at the Republican National Convention has sparked questions about her background.
Khloe Kardashian revealed the six products she uses every night before she goes to sleep on Thursday, November 12. "All the makeup in the world won't make a difference without great skincare," she writes in the post.
For nearly twenty years, Beyoncé has lived her life in the public eye yet she has always kept her cool, been submissive, and rather quiet when it came to her personal endeavors however after releasing the film “Lemonade”, we are able to see her in a vulnerable light. In Jeremy Helliger’s article: “Dear Beyhive: Stop Whining. Beyoncé Still Hasn’t Earned Her Album Of The Year Grammy” he addresses the idea that although Beyoncé was able to encourage black women to be proud and free, she also she missed the mark by adding raunchy, over the top content to her vulnerability.
Argument: Kourtney Kardashian is clearly into a healthy lifestyle because she posts health related subjects on her social media accounts often. While ago she also mentioned that she was on dairy and gluten- free diet with her children. Not only she cares about what she puts in her body, she also works out frequently and it is documented on her snapchat account.
In the year of 1988, a song called “Fuck Tha Police” was published and publicly released to the world by the famous rap group N.W.A. on August 9th. The song is an ultimate form of protest. Not only did it reveal racism and police brutality towards African Americans, but it was a real eye opener for the whole world to see how Caucasian people treated people of color back then. The song transcended into a slogan and is now a movement in pop culture all over the world today, you see it on posters, billboards, and even t-shirts. The song hits all three categories of ethos, logos, and pathos. It demonstrates credibility/trust, logic/reason/proof, and emotions/values.
In the essay, “Hip-Hop’s Betrayal Of Black Women”(221), by Jennifer McLune, she vents her feelings regarding hip-hop songs that are rhythmically diminishing the value of black women. She provides example on how the lyrics are being voiced and how hip-hop artists do not seem to care. Kevin Powell in “Notes of a Hip Hop Head” writes, “Indeed, like rock and roll, hip-hop sometimes makes you think we men don’t like women much at all, except to objectify them as trophy pieces or, as contemporary vernacular mandates, as baby mommas, chicken heads, or bitches” (221). There have been apologizes for what the rappers have said but nothing to resolve the dehumanization of black women. McLune informs the readers that hip-hop singers belittle black women and make them invisible. Jay-Z, a popular hip-hop artist is brought to center stage by McLune. The essay shows the example of a part of Jay-Z song that says, “I pimp hard on a trick, look Fuck if your leg broke bitch hop on your good foot” (222). This lyric is a perfect example of how hip-hop artist have no remorse in the words they sing. The hurt feelings and loss of self-esteem black women suffer, is of no concern to the rappers. McLune expresses that those who are underground hip-hop artist follow the footsteps on being sexist and using crude words in their lyrics just because they yearn and dream of being in the spotlight. Upcoming rappers want to be loved like Jay-Z and other famous notorious rappers.
This year, the Super Bowl halftime show became the center of controversy because of a major pop star’s political statement. An intense backlash occurred when Beyonce and her back-up dancers performed her politically charged anthem, “Formation,” while dressed in homage to the Black Panthers. Seeing African-Americans with afros dressed in black leather jackets and berets struck a negative cord with many Americans. Critics of the performance claimed that it was racially divisive and anti-police. Many attacked Beyonce for promoting what they believe to be a racist terrorist group.
Two women from two different backgrounds have so much in common yet they are so different. One grew up in Houston, Texas while the other grew up in Saint Michael, Barbados. Even though these two women have had very different up bringing the one thing they have in common is their great voices. These two women’s background, musical style, and other career ventures make them both two of the best female artist in their field.
There was quite a controversy of Beyonce and her super bowl performance. People thought that her “Formation” performance was promoting violence due to her and her dancers honoring the black panther party. Back then and even now, people compare the black panther party to the KKK. They believe that the black panther party was a terrorist group that performed horrible things like killing and beating people. The only thing beyonce was doing was promoting the #BLACKLIVESMATTER movement. She did it in the only way she knew how and that was through singing. Another performance that was commonly talked about was Kendrick Lamar's Grammy performance. The critics called his performance "powerful" and "shedding light on an internal struggle".
During the duration of the music video Beyoncé makes numerous references to historical events. She uses these references as a way to illustrate the story and educate the morals behind them. For example, Beyoncé purposely uses the sinking New Orleans police car to demonstrate the story behind the event. The narrator, Beyoncé, visually communicates the story of how Hurricane Katrina traumatically demolished the city of New Orleans. By laying on the sinking police car she is simply visually stating that police officers, during this dramatic event, were drowning the people of New Orleans, rather than aiding them in a desperate time of need. There does seem to be a casual relation between the people of New Orleans and the
The drowning police car and its crooked sirens demonstrate the government's failure to protect its black citizens of New Orleans, but not only during Katrina. Messy Mya was a New Orleans native and first-hand victim of systematic inequality when he was gunned down and killed in 2010: He asks during the images of Bey and the police car, “What happened at the New Wil'ins?” By forcing the audience to sit and think about what tragedies have occurred in New Orleans, across all timelines, and how they have been handled by American Society, Bey wants the audience to get angry and instigate the need for change and justice. She holds these tragedies responsible for the song “Formation”, and the need for “a new era of activism addressing the systemic inequality and racism that still exists in the United States.” Milch, Elizabeth (Genius)

Beyoncé Knowles, a well-known singer, songwriter uses two of her songs: “Freedom” and “Formation” to tell the story of herself. “Freedom” is the beginning of her story where she is searching for freedom and equality showing that there is still much inequality and injustice for African Americans in America today. The song slowly transitions to a more positive tone when she seems to have made something beneficial out of her difficult situation. “Formation,” however, has a completely different tone. While she does address negative situations from the past at the beginning of the song, she quickly transitions to a more positive tone full of pride in where she came from, who she has become, and what she has overcome. Together, the two songs
The cartoon’s use of these two types of people pokes fun at the American public by introducing to us a visual of a regular, granola family watching a seemingly “ignorant” celebrity. Jokes on them, because they are in fact the pawns in a big commercial game played by the big companies and producers of the entertainment industry. They are using regular people to make money off of their critique and attention. The regular people in this image do not realize that britney spears is doing whatever she is doing to play the people. This is an example of irony because these people are telling britney spears to get a life while they are wasting their time watching britney spears live her life. They are hypocrites and the social commentary hints at the
Music can have a big influence on society or a person individually, this can be because everyone has personal feelings and perceives music differently. For this song assignment I choose If I were a boy by Beyonce Knowles. I choose this song because of how gender is seen in society and the differences between men and women and it’s impact in our world. The reason this song makes me think in a sociological manner is because we as people don’t know what it is like to be one gender or the other. Also, there are differences between the genders and we blame society for creating these differences, however we don’t actually stop assuming or agreeing with these differences. I think that personally I don’t always understand how there is such a big difference
