According to the reading, an important element of personhood is dominion over the earth in conjunction with dominion over ourselves. In, The Bible and Morality (pg 2), the author says “Knowledge and discernment are part of God’s gift.” The definition of personhood taken from the oxford dictionary is “the quality or condition of being an individual person.” Taken together, one can decipher that the text implies that the capacity for intelligence is an element of personhood, or the condition of being an individual. The sentence, “Human beings are capable, and, as creatures, obliged to seek God’s purpose and to try to discern the will of God in order to act rightly” on page two of The Bible and Morality further evidences the link between the possession human knowledge and the condition of being an individual human person. It does this by linking the capability to seek God to having intelligence. This is important due to having the information about the world as one knows it. The man has become like one of us, knowing good and evil!” An important aspect of the Bible is the fact that one is created in the image and likeness of God. Since one is created in the image and likeness of God, the knowledge of good and evil is also a part of being a part of God’s image. That further states that knowledge is a part of being like God, and since knowledge is also a part of personhood, by logic personhood relates to being like God which is stated in Gen 1.26 “Then God said: Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness. Let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the tame animals, all the wild animals, and all the creatures that crawl on the earth. God created mankind in his image; in the image of God he created them; male and female he created
