After the Civil War, life in the United States was slowly changing, from its rural and tired war torn state into an imperial powerhouse. The country was not very active in foreign affairs and was content with its isolationist views. Until, the United States started thinking more of their political values and their belief in being “ordained by God to expand its territory,” which I believe is ridiculous but they were very religious 100 years ago. They believed God gave them the right and ability to obtain territories and expand west and south. Many business leaders and political men agreed with these ideals and intended utilize foreign countries for their raw materials. This would result in
Clinton was a major key in moving forward the race relations. He helped support the diverse equality in the United States and showed that any person can do what they set out to accomplish. Clinton’s staff was recognized as being one of the most diverse groups the country had seen during his time in office. Ambassadors, federal judges, cabinet secretaries, U.S. attorneys, and U.S. marshals were appointed to many minorities. Clinton even set out to try and make up for past wrong doings to the black community. He was part of a settlement that awarded black farmers billions of dollars because of discrimination in the government’s farm loan program (Ryan). Clinton helped start the more diverse government in Washington and his accomplishment is still moving forward.

James Earl Carter, son of Lillian Gordy and James Carter, was born on October 1st, 1924 in Plains, Georgia. During his childhood, he grew up with two sisters, Gloria and Ruth, and one brother, William. All four children grew up on their family farm. Carter attended public school and was considered the smartest kid in his class; he enjoyed reading. He was on the basketball team during his high school years. He graduated in 1941, as valedictorian. In 1943, he attended Georgia Institute of Technology and Georgia Southwestern College where he received a BS degree for US Navy. As a young boy, he loved to read about the navy, which later inspired him. So, he scheduled an appointment for the US Navy academy, but failed the math portion of the test. Later, he married Rosalynn Smith, his sister’s best friend in 1946. They had four kids; John, James, Donnell, and Amy. Jimmy spent his first years in the navy serving as an instructor. Later, when his father passed away from cancer he felt it was his job to care and run his family farm. Rosalynn, however, didn’t want to. When he returned to the plains, the farm ran successfully.
Bill Clinton did many things to improve the nation, for example, diversifying the Administration by appointing more minorities and women to cabinet posts and federal judgeships. Unfortunately, the way Bill handled himself in both the Paula Jones and Monica Lewinsky case overshadowed his good presidential acts. Clinton committed perjury, obstructed justice and tampered with witnesses, that is not a man who should have remained in office as the leader of the free world. Bill Clinton’s acts were inexcusable and inadmissible and should have led to a conviction. “There may be times when we are powerless to prevent injustice, but there must never be a time when we fail to protest.”- Elie Wiesel. Unfortunately in the case of Bill Clinton, the members of the Senate had the power to prevent injustice and the power to protest and they had the opportunity to convict a guilty man, but instead, they allowed him to walk

He loved spending time with his father and listening to politics from an early age. Jimmy’s childhood friends were African American and so were the most influential adults in his life. Richard nixon was born on january 9, 1913 in Yorba Linda California. His parents were hannah nixon and francis nixon. Richard was the second oldest out of 4 other brother that he grew up with. Nixon early life was hard for him he also said himself that he was poor but they just didn't know it. Whatever that means. One of his brothers arthur died at a really young age because a bad disease. That was a big down in richard's life.

Richard also had 4 brothers who were Harold, Donald, Arthur and Edward. Richards’s father had formerly lived in Ohio but has moved to California where he met his wife Hannah who was a Quaker. So Francis has given up his religion of Methodism to become a Quaker. Richards Parents worked on a ranch but were faced with tough financial circumstances so his parents left the ranch and opened a grocery store combined with a gas station. This made the financial status of the Nixon’s somewhat stable but it required everyone’s cooperation this helped him become the determined person he will become in the future. Richards’s parents did no go to college and study because they were into the farming business.
When most people think about the Presidents of the United States, they think of George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, and the like.
