Following recent reports on the Bill Cosby rape accusations case which state that the famous comedian obtained drugs known as Quaaludes in the intention to drug young women and have sex with them, some reports suggest that Cosby's accusers are now afraid that the actor will try to make a run for it. According to New York Times, Cosby testified in 2005 that he obtained Quaaludes which are central nervous system depressants. He then admitted that he used the drugs in the intention to make women have sexual relations with him. There are currently 36 accusations against Cosby, and most of the women claim that they took a pill from him, whether to relax or feel better, and some claim that the actor had slipped drugs into their drinks. During a four-days-time in 2005 and 2006, Cosby was taken to the stand, where he answered questions about the Andrea Constand sexual molestation. According to Cosby, the sexual encounter was consensual because Constand did not look angry and because she never said anything that might have hinted her disaproval. Cosby stated that he had romantic feelings towards Constand the minute he saw her at Temple, where he served on the board of trustees. …show more content…
Cosby also talked about his relationship with Beth Ferrier, one of the women who accused the actor of sexual harrasment. When Cosby was asked to describe his relationship with Ferrier, he said "We had sex and we had dinners and sex and rendezvous." U.S. District Judge Eduardo Robreno unsealed 16 court filings on July 6, which Cosby's lawyers appealed to. The filings quote him saying that he obtained the quaaludes in order to give them to women. Since then, a court reporting service released the full deposition which contains Cosby's testimony about sexually assaulting dozens of women, one of which is the plaintiff Andrea
During the year of 2015, a case that the Innocence Project was working on at the time was the Joseph Buffey Case. Joseph Buffey was convicted in 2001 in West Virginia of rape and robbery. Mr. Buffey pled guilty to the crimes based on the advise of his counsel and witness misidentification which was the heart of this investigation. On May 11, 2015, Mr. Buffey was excluded by DNA and the real perpetrator was later found. Mr. Buffey served a total of 15 years in prison for a crime that he did not commit. DNA Exonerations makes up 334 total cases that the Innocence Project has worked on. The following numbers overlap with the 334 cases. 237 cases involved misidentification by witnesses, 154 were the result of improper forensics, 92 were due to
In a deposition, Camille Cosby claimed that she never read her husband Bill Cosby’s deposition in 2005, in which he admitted that he gave Quaaludes to women he wanted to have sex with, according to People, March 9, 2016.
According to the recently opened court documents and depositions from a civil suit filed by the alleged victim, Mr. Crosby acknowledged he had given women Quaaludes as a party drug in his efforts to have sex. These documents had been sealed but were released by a federal judge in July 2015. Additional signs of Cosby’s consciousness of guilt are his apologies to the victim and her mother along with his offer of financial assistance.
Brock Turner was an above average 19 year-old athlete and student at Oakwood High School in Dayton, Ohio. While in high school, Turner was a three-time All American and was enrolled at Stanford University on a swimming scholarship. He was offered a scholarship to Stanford and he took it without any thought. One thing he never thought about was getting indicted of rape of an intoxicated person, rape of an unconscious person, assault with intent to rape an intoxicated woman, sexually penetrating an intoxicated person with a foreign object, and sexually penetrating an unconscious person with a foreign object. Everything that was just listed, is what he was charged with the night of his felony.
Cotton then confronted his lawyers about getting a DNA test which the State Bureau Investigation didn’t have the ability to perform so a private lab had to do it. However, the DNA test did get done and it showed that Cotton was not a match. The DNA found in the second victim rape kit matched Bobby Poole. Poole later than confessed to both crimes that took place. Ronald Cotton was then finally brought into the court room and all the charges against him were dropped after eleven years of being locked
I thought the Bill Cosby trial was very interesting. One simple reason why it caught my eye with all those females saying he did rape me 15 years ago and etc. It was sorta of like a train reaction if you understand what I mean. I guess I had never experience what those women went threw but i wonder why the speak up now , why not earlier?. It did surprise me to a point how there was no evidence to make a case. I understand it happened so long ago but I wonder if Bill Cosby had good connection with people in court house. I always think differently because I watch to much crime shows.
I concur with Wickham’s argument; Cosby’s refusal to answer this question is not helping his case. In an attempt to take the moral high ground by refusing to acknowledge these allegations as serious, he is convincing no one of his innocence. Cosby lost even more support after it was discovered in the deposition notes that he admitted getting quaaludes,. But I don’t think that he will admit it on his own. So much resources has gone into dismissing the allegations. But sexual assault is a serious issue. Just answer the question, Mr.
"I did not have sexual relations with that woman." was one of Bill Clinton’s famous political one-liners. In the past decade, many people have made it their mission to prosecute Democratic President William Jefferson “Bill” Clinton for committing real estate fraud known as the Whitewater scandal and his involvement in numerous illicit sex scandals like the Paula Jones lawsuit and the Monica Lewinsky lawsuit to name a few. The significance of the Whitewater trials and the impeachment of the president is that it served as an example for future presidents and assured the people that the president is subjected to the law, not above it. If he
Sandusky's claim of Innocence is ridiculous. Not only does he have multiple people within the school who actually knew about all the abuses, but even some of the young children are speaking out against him. Sandusky abused children from 1994 to 2009, the facts are there and multiple members of the school have also been charged with crimes for the cover up of Sandusky and to not gain a bad representation of the school. It's actually pretty sickening that many trusted members of this school, covered up such acts against a man who abused children for over 15 years. It is even way worse at the fact that these people turned a blind eye so that they wouldn't make the school look bad. It is my opinion that the judge should have also charged these
Bill Cosby gave his deposition about the alleged 1974 sexual assault incident and according to Radar Online, Oct. 10, 2015, it took seven hours, and Gloria Allred is still not finished. She wants to have another go-round with Bill Cosby. Gloria asked Bill a series of questions at an undisclosed place in Boston, Mass, and cameras were rolling the entire time. The meeting started at 9 a.m. and lasted until 4:30 p.m. However, the judge sealed them and everything said during that time, will be released to the public until maybe December 22. At that time, the U.S. Superior Court Judge Craig D. Karlan will review the deposition. The attorneys for both sides will argue why or why not the contents should be released and the judge will then rule on
Moreover, Cosby was a beloved comedian. As aforementioned, African-Americans loved him because he surmounted racial confinements and became, “the first African-American to star in prime-time, with the 1960s hit I Spy, and then as ‘America’s Dad,’ Dr. Cliff Huxtable, on the top-rated Cosby Show,” (Seal 3). Furthermore, America adored him because he was an extraordinary comedian filled with charisma. Not only was Cosby charming on screen, but he was also captivating in person. Cosby used his immaculate reputation and charm to seduce women, or more accurately: befriend them before drugging and raping them. For example, Victoria Valentino, one of his innumerable victims, wrote, “I was sickened by what was happening to me and shocked that this man

On August 6, Lewinsky appeared before the grand jury to begin her testimony, and on August 17 President Clinton testified. Contrary to his testimony in the Paula Jones sexual-harassment case, President Clinton acknowledged to prosecutors from the office of the independent counsel that he had had an extramarital affair with Ms. Lewinsky. In four hours of closed-door testimony, conducted in the Map Room of the White House, Clinton spoke live via closed-circuit television to a grand jury in a nearby federal courthouse. He was the first sitting president ever to testify before a grand jury investigating his conduct. That evening, President Clinton also gave a four-minute televised address to the nation in which he admitted he had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with Lewinsky. In the brief speech, which was wrought with legalisms, the word “sex” was never spoken, and the word “regret” was used only in reference to his admission that he misled the public and his family.
Ruining a reputation is as easy as ruining a life. Just keep secrets. It may be a forbidden relationship or one from the past that comes to haunt later. The latter is true for Bill Cosby. After Hannibal Burress called Cosby a rapist in a comedy act in October 2014, several women’s stories came to national attention. Barbara Bowman wrote an essay, about her experience with Bill Cosby for Washington Post online on November 13th, 2014. She explains how the relationship started off harmlessly. He had a TV show and she was a 17 year old aspiring model so he gave her tips and they bonded over the industry. The first time he assaulted her was at his home in New York City, where he had invited her to dinner. “I blacked out after having dinner and one glass of wine […]. When I came to […] Cosby was looming over me. I’m certain now that he drugged and raped me” the essay written by Bowmen reveals. She wasn’t sure, as a teenager, if it was her imagination. He was famous for his “family man” persona and she was just a young model. She was afraid if she said something she would be criticized for trying to deface Cosby’s image, being accused that she was just lying to get attention and publicity. Her story had been published a handful of times before Burress’s accusation but only now is it taking actual hold in the media. His comment along with accusations from several women created a public outcry. Barbara Bowman is not alone with her experience, a handful of other women, actresses and
The Arkansas trial raised discussions about the demarcation of science from nonscience. Towards the end of the trial Judge Overton justified his decision by providing five criteria, which stated the definition of science. Discussions arose which argued for and against these criterias. One of the philosophers that claimed that creation science was indeed science was Larry Laudan. Laudan expressed his disappointment towards the decision of the trial, and stated that the trial failed to recognise the falsifiable theories that creationists made. Gilkey and Ruse were a couple of the philosophers however, that agreed with the decision arguing that creation science failed to comply with the standards of science especially through its conclusion of an unexplainable divine creator. In this essay, I will discuss the arguments that aid the demarcation of science from nonscience, and ultimately conclude with an
