Billy Kristanto’s work, The Bible and our Postmodern World, deals with the problems in postmodern Christianity, particularly the relevance of the Bible to postmodern audiences. A major disparity between modernism and postmodernism is that postmodernism takes the Bible to be pluralistic and not uniform. Pluralism is the belief that opposing truths and differing beliefs about God and salvation can lead to the same truth. That is to say, the argument of postmodernism is that there is more than one way to be saved and even that there is more than one god. Kristanto states that there are two ways of looking at postmodernism: with acceptance or disapproval. He claims that, “The right response to postmodernism should be arguably both fascination and aversion.”
Postmodernism has seen a shift away from foundationalism which says that what is known comes from believing. The basis of Christianity is belief, so foundationalism logically fits Christianity. Faith is the foundation. The postmodern world does not look at things in a logical manner and demands diversity. To the postmodernist, the search for truth is futile. An example that Kristanto gives is that, “Instead of speaking

Therefore, to the postmodernist, the closest you can come to the truth is transparency. The truth can be falsified whereas beauty is instantly apparent and more easily taken for truth. The idea then, revolves around beauty, and not around truth. “The search for pleasure and enjoyment has now surpassed the search for rationality,” Kristanto says. This has led to our generation’s desires for continuous entertainment. Similarly, the rejection of objectivity in postmodernism has led to reality being understood through the lens of social constructs. Thus, what is true to someone also true to only the people who share the same social
Postmodernism in a nutshell. When was it created? How did it fail or did it? Is there redemption in postmodernism?
Postmodernism is a philosophical movement branches its roots in the mid to late 20th century as a response to modernism. “It refers to a cultural, intellectual, or artistic state lacking a clear central hierarchy or organizing principle”. Therefore, there is no well-shaped definition or sets of rules for postmodernism as it is a critique of structures and what we refer to as real but for postmodernism, there is no “absolute truth”.
Postmodernism is a term which is highly contested in the sociological world, where it is used to indicate a significant detachment from modernism. It is easier to give the uses of the term; ‘to give a name to the present historical period, to name a specific style in arts and architecture and to name a point of rupture or disjuncture in epistemology’ (Buchanan, 2010). For this,
The goal of A Primer to Postmodernism, written by Stanley Grenz, is not to justify or disprove postmodernism but to enlighten the audience on the purpose of postmodernism. This book should be recommended to everyone interested in the subject but to all Christians in order to learn the current and potential enemies that they will be facing. As modernity continues to fade and postmodernity’s open truths that welcome those who are no longer interested in having to look towards a Divine Creator as the reason for being, Grenz’s work will be a tool to help bring postmodernism to
Postmodernism or postculturalism, a term often also used, offer a very different and much more radical version of constructivism. They are strongly opposed to the universalist premises of realism, liberalism, Marxism and post-Marxism, and are highly critical of the general phenomenon of the aforementioned modernity (Lawson, p. 145).
As a Christian, I see the bible as the inspired word of God. In the context of the Scriptures, the word “inspiration” means “God-breathed”. 2 Timothy 3:16 “ All scripture is given by inspiration of God”. 1. 2 Peter 1: 21 “ For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of men, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit”.
Postmodernists are convinced, and seek to convince all others, that God-given equality of opportunity should equate to equality of outcome. They rally this by advocating for subsidies and government assistance, even when a need is not extreme. Equality of opportunity, however, is presented to all and it was important to the Founders that this right, in particular, be especially protected. The intent of the Founders was not to create a government which entangled and ensnared its citizens. Postmodernists want to believe that the federal government and the Constitution are morally binding, that they are constraining and eliminating the opportunity to live freely and express personal impulses. Neither are truth. Postmodernists rebel against authority because they are bound by the dilemma that nothing is true, nothing can be found to be truth, and truth will never exist. Therefore, they accept each new trend or philosophy, and when the trend does not respect authority and contradicts government, postmodernists will do the same. It is an endless, hopeless cycle, as earlier quoted by

Postmodernism is sceptical about the universal truth as well as the language that claims to be authoritative and objective. In The Essence of the New Testament: A Survey, Towns and Gutierrez, the authors concur with other Biblical scholars understanding that “the teaching of Romans is not only crucial for Christian theology, but the greatest revivals and reformations throughout the history of Christianity have resulted from an increased understanding and application of the teaching of this epistle”
The Bible has challenged many people as a piece of literature containing history, poetry, and written letters. Some would argue that the contents of Scripture are inaccurate, however would still agree that it carries significant value as a piece of literature. Conversely, those who ascribe to the teachings of the Bible are dealt with questions about the authority and inerrancy of Scripture. It is becoming increasingly important that Christians understand and embrace the full inerrancy of Scripture. The theological implications dictate the contemporary church’s view of God himself. Also, there is rising arguments versus the inerrancy of Scripture found in postmodernism. Beyond an all-out attack on the inerrancy of the Bible by liberalism, even some Christians argue the notion that it is irrelevant for theological conversations within the contemporary church. Historically speaking, churches that have abandoned the inerrancy of Scripture, have also gone on to abandon theological foundations of faith, which has eternal consequences. The office of Biblical inerrancy must be defended in order for a strong foundation of Biblical theology.
Postmodernists believe that the world is impossible to understand because there

Post Modernism Perspective’s- "According to postmodern perspectives, existing theories have been unsuccessful in explaining social life in contemporary societies that are characterized by post industrialization, consumerism, and global communications (Kendall, 01/2014, p. 29).”Postmodern theories are based on the assumption that the rapid social change that occurs as societies move from modern to postmodern (or postindustrial) conditions has a harmful effect on people. One evident change is the significant decline in the influence of social institutions such as the family, religion, and education on people’s lives. Those who live in postmodern societies typically pursue individual freedom and do not want the structural constraints that are imposed by social institutions (Kendall, 01/2014, p. 29). "Postmodern (or “postindustrial”) societies are characterized by an information explosion and an economy in which large numbers of people either provide or apply information, or they are employed in professional occupations (such as lawyers and physicians) or service jobs (such as fast-food servers and health care workers). (Kendall, 01/2014, pp. 29-30)

Postmodernism is a way of thinking this is when one denies the absolute truth, when they don't see right or wrong ,good or evil. They feel as if the truth comes from their personal experiences .
