James Brown Miller, also known as “Killin’ Jim”, “Killer Miller” and “Deacon Jim”, was the son of Jack and Cynthia Miller. He was born on October, 25, 1866 in Van Buren, Arkansas, and was married to the cousin of another famous old west outlaw, John Wesley Hardin. And at the age of one, he moved with his parents to Franklin, Texas. However, just a few years after the move, both of Miller’s parents died, and he was sent to Evant to live with his grandparents. At the age of eight, Miller was again orphaned after both of his grandparents were found murdered in their home. Miller was arrested for the crime, even though he was only eight years old; in the end, he wasn’t charged.

Jackie Robison was the first African- American person to play in the Major League of Baseball in the United States. Jackie Robison was the wake up call of the controversy in American Baseball history. Robison was a hero to many, the one man who stood up to play in the major league, were it was then “a game for white mans only,” according to many. He was constantly receiving threats, been yelled at, throw things at and most importantly constant racism towards him. He became a legacy, not only in baseball, but also in the American life. Faith Bandler was a famous political activist and also a writer who was well know for her active roles in campaigning for the rights of Indigenous Australians and South Sea Islanders. Faith Bandler fully dedicated her life, fighting for aboriginal rights and she was a feminist who understood politics. Faith was best known for her leadership skills in campaigning for the referendum on Aboriginal Australians in1967. After faith had passed away in February 2015, It was said by her daughter: "My mother had learned from her mother and father, that you had to fight for what was right, for what was just and that you had to stand up for people who couldn't fight their own battles,". During my lifetime I encountered many amazing people. One man who I admire most is my friend, Billy Selingo. Billy is twenty-seven years old and currently attending Manhattanville College to receive his master’s degree. Billy always been a very talented hockey player, as a freshman he began at the Holderness School then attended a post grad year at the Selects Academy at South Kent, which totals five years at the competitive prep school level. Next up for him was a scholarship to continue his hockey career at Manhattanville College, where the team competed at the division three hockey level. Billy had more skill than most of the team, he thought by playing at the division three level he would receive more playing time than he was actually getting. Christian Middlethon helped me take off 40 pounds of fat in less than 3 months. I would not have believed that I could be this disciplined and yet with his guidance and support it actually was not a difficult accomplishment. His advice and reinforcement helped me stay the course and I had very little craving for the kinds of foods that led me to gaining the weight and I have actually learned to eat differently in terms of portions and kinds of foods so that I won't put it back on.
