Many of the entrepreneurs and technological innovators we have today started making strides in technology before even attending college. Some start as early as 16 or in their late teens. Bill Gates and the late Steve Jobs are just the more well-known entrepreneurs, who changed the role that technology plays in our lives without the possession of a college degree or even a full college education. Another successful entrepreneur, who dropped out of school at the young age of sixteen and went on to become a millionaire when he sold two advertising companies by the age of 25 for $340 million, is Gurbaksh Chahal. He was able to achieve this using his own ideas and intelligence. In the book, The Dream: How I Learned the Risks and Rewards of Entrepreneurship and Made Millions, Chahal explains, “ People tend to think that in order to start a new business they have to come up with something new and dazzling, but that’s a myth-and it’s often propagated by venture capitalists” (Chahal 59). This quote supports the claim that who people perceive to be intelligent and successful is not always determined by a college degree. He continues by saying that companies are obsessed with what makes someone’s business unique and unrelated to

For this paper, I choose to interview Jean Proll, Elijah Purnell, Alex Synder, Zach Perry, and Cynthia Bring. Jean Proll has been working with children ministries in her church for many years. I thought that she would be a good choice because she grew up in a completely different American culture than I had, so I thought she would have some good advice on how to deal with things changing, and different types or kids. I then decided to interview Elijah Purnell, because he lives in New Zealand and I thought it would be interesting to see how they lead the ministries and work in groups. I also thought it would be a good idea because I don’t know who God will bring into my path or where he will take me, so I would have some insight into another country’s culture when it comes to leadership in groups. Alex Synder has started a lot of groups around the community to help many people and she has also helped her brothers find Christ. She also has helped out the Christian students in our high school and help them start a before school Bible Study. Zach Perry was one of my choices because he led many small groups in his church and he helps many people get back on track with God. Cynthia Bing has been a devoted Christian from a very young age. She has started a women’s ministry at her church to bring the women of the church together.
His first job was working as a clerk for a nearby import-export store. He worked there for a while then started to grow a love with writing. His education soon became something he thought was important. He first didn’t get into a church school because his parents were not married. After being denied he didn’t give up, he started the brilliant idea of self-educating himself. Reading everything he could get his hands on is what made him a genius. The library he went to only had thirty-four books some including Roman and Greek classics. He didn’t stop at just reading he started to learn other languages. His mother taught his some French but he became fluent by himself. After all that hard work he was accepted into a all grammar school in New Jersey. After studying there for about a year with Francis Barber he then went to King’s College. It was in New York City and he got his Bachelor’s of Arts degree in just the short time span of one year. Bill Gates is not only a genius, but also an innovator in education, technology, and philanthropy. A prodigy, Bill Gates shares an education fact with Abraham Lincoln, Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, and even his competitor Steve Jobs: no college degree. Instead, he devoted his time to his passion for technology, going on to create the most profitable technology company in the world. For much of the past decade, Gates allocated both his profit and attention to philanthropy. Evidence of his innovation, industry and curiosity can be seen at an early age.
