Hundreds of thousands of people journeyed across the United States and to the United States in order to see Pope Francis and hear different speeches that he gave to various people of the nation. Francis is slowly getting used to the publicity and adoration that comes with being the Pope. However, this has not come easy for the quite spoken man who has come from Argentina. As Pope Francis traveled throughout the United States, he presented many issues for the consideration of all people, speaking from his experiences and previous background. Jorge Mario Bergoglio was born on December 17, 1936 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He is the eldest of five children born to the parents of Mario José Bergoglio and Regina Maria Sivori. However, before he was born his parents moved to the Americas in order that they could provide the best life for their children. The family was not poor, but rather considered themselves fortunate to have a safe home in the suburbs of Buenos Aires. Jorge had a great love for literature, however, he surprised his family and friends when deciding to get a master’s degree in chemistry. Then, on March 11, 1958, Jorge, at the age of 21, entered into the Society of Jesus, marking the beginning of his religious vocation. Jorge’s faith and vocation deepened when he took his first vows as a Jesuit on March 12, 1962. Following this, he began to study philosophy at San Miguel Seminary in Buenos Aires.
