Credibility is an important characteristic to have. How credible you are means how trustworthy and reliable you are. I think my athletic trainer is credible. He is good at what he does and always knows how to help anyone who is injured so I trust he knows what he is doing. If he never knew what to do and could not help you he would not be a very credible athletic trainer. This shows that your actions can affect your credibility. I think Michael Phelps is a credible person when it comes to swimming. He was very successful though his credibility took a hit when he was pictured holding a marijuana pipe (Crouse).
Phelps was born to his parents, Fred and Debbie, on June 30, 1985 (JockBio: Michael Phelps Biography). He has two sisters, Whitney

Phelps also won a gold medal in 800-meter freestyle relay, 200-meter individual medley, 200 meter freestyle, and the 400-meter freestyle relay. Michael Phelps made history by breaking the record of seven gold medals in one Olympics by winning eight (JackBio: Michael Phelps Biography). These Olympics made Michael Phelps a celebrity. He became known by many because he was an amazing swimmer. Kids looked up to Phelps wanting to be like him someday.
Three months after his history making swims in Beijing, Michael Phelps was caught with a glass pipe, or bong, that is used for smoking marijuana (Papa). A picture of Phelps holding the pipe and looking like he was smoking was published in a British newspaper in 2009 (Crouse). The picture was taken while he was at a party (Papa). Phelps did not ever admit to smoking marijuana but did apologize (Mail Foreign Service). He said “I engaged in behavior which was regrettable and demonstrated bad judgement ... For this, I am sorry” (Papa). Phelps still got punished. He was banned from competing in any swimming competitions for three months by USA Swimming (Mail Foreign Service). Along with the suspension there was also a “withdrawal of financial support” for Phelps (Mail Foreign Service). The contract Michael Phelps had with Kellogg’s would not be renewed after it ended due to his drug scandal (Mail Foreign Service). Kellogg’s made a statement saying
Credibility is something that takes a lot of time to gain, but can be lost in an instance. When someone or something is credible that means they are easily trusted or believed in because of what they have done in the past. For example Nike lost some credibility when new came out they were producing their products in sweatshops across the world. However since that they have worked on that problem and gained back their credibility, but it took some time. Credibility is a great quality to have, it means you are trustworthy and people respect you. Furthermore Alex Rodriguez is another example that shows why credibility is an important quality and how cheating affects it.
Credibility: I am very credible when it comes to soccer. I have been playing the game for over 10 years. I am a certified referee. I am also a member of our high school’s soccer team.
The credibility of a person depends on many different elements. Credibility can pertain to trustworthiness and expertise. Trustworthiness is affected by things like reliability and characteristics of the person. Expertise is affected by credentials and proven skill (Flanagin, Metzger, 4). The same person may be perceived as credible at one point in time, but may lack credibility later in time. Credibility is largely based on what we as a society are experiencing during that time period. Small things may affect credibility that we would not originally think to include. If a person were to see an ad every day about a certain lawyer, they might think of the lawyer if it comes a time for them to need a lawyer. But if someone were to hear about how wonderful a certain lawyer is from a friend or coworker, that person would be more likely to use that lawyer if the need arose. It stands to reason that people are more likely to trust people they know blindly when it comes to credibility. Appearance is another aspect of credibility that would not always be considered. Much of the time it is subconscious, but people are more likely to trust a person or service if the staff or spokesperson is attractive physically
Continuing his winning streak, he went and won fifty-two National Championship titles and broke over fifty records in swimming. He continued winning all the way to the Olympic Trials for Paris 1924 and swept past his rivals. He was on his way to the Olympics where he won 3 gold medals in the 100 and 400 free and in the 4x200 freestyle relay. He also took home a bronze alongside the mens' water polo team. He was an astounding athlete and all of his rivals feared
Credibility is a very important thing for a person to have. A person that has credibility is a person who you can trust and believer in. You can have credibility for different things. For example, Bill Gates has a great amount of credibility with electronics. Demi Lovato shows why credibility is an important quality and how their actions can affect it.
Michael jackson was born on August 29th, 1958 in Gary Indiana with 4 older brothers. His dad, Joe Jackson, was a guitar player and his 3 older brothers, jackie, tito, and jeremy were already performing around the town he grew up in by the 1960s. Joe and Katherine jackson, Michael's parents, had nine children all together. When he was invited to “family week” Michael’s dad, Fred Phelps immediately decided to come, which shocked Michael who didn’t expect him to show up. (Citing) Both Fred and Michael were scared for how things would go, but after having a long honest talk with each other they made up and resolved all the problems between them. Along with getting his father back Phelps decided to start training for Rio. Three months after rehab he proposed to his girlfriend Nicole and later had his son Boomer Phelps on May 5th, 2016. (Citing) By then Phelps knew he had his life back. Phelps’ return was when he went to the last Olympic meet of his career in the 2016 Rio Games. There he won 5 golds and a silver, and that is also where he decided to announce the end of his career. He says “This is what I came back for” and now he is ready to move on in his life (Citing Mp retires). Michael’s treasure is the success of his career and how he was able to come back and “do things I wanted to accomplish” and also all the things he learned on his journey. Now that he is retired, Michael spends time at home with his wife and son and looks forward to watching Boomer grow and is now ready move forward in his

Credibility, the quality of being trusted and believed in. I’ve given you the definition of
Homosexuality has nothing to do with whether or not one is a proficient athlete. However, due to predisposed perceptions of what it is to be an athlete and what it is to be homosexual, the words homosexual athlete and the athlete himself are not always met with the warmest of regards. The reason for this dissonance can be somewhat explained through the Role Congruity Theory. Role congruity is the social phenomenon that an individual is perceived more positively when their actions and behaviors are consistent with their gender (Lanter 2008). When action and gender are perceived to be inconsistent the perceptive party feels dissonance, which is can be displayed in a variety of ways ranging from avoidance to disgust or even anger. Athletes are big and strong, they are the men that the women swoon over and the men wish to be. Athletes are considered to be the ideal picture of what it means to society to be a man. When an athlete comes out as gay, especially a male athlete, it skews the entire picture for some; leaving them lost and questioning what exactly it means to be a man based on their learned societal constructs.
He won 4 gold medals in the common wealth games. Ian Broke world record for the 200m freestyle twice in two consecutive days (Topend Sports Network, 1997-2014 ). Unfortunately Ian’s courier ended with a damaged shoulder. He was a determined swimmer who never gave up. Exceedingly Ian also bettered own 400m freestyle mark, lowered the 200m freestyle world record twice again, he quoted that freestyle is my favourite.
Greatness in sports is a status that only very few reach, however to be labeled the greatest athlete of all time is for that one soul individual who excels at all aspects of the game and exceeds every other player in that sport. In my exploratory essay I established what makes an athlete the greatest athlete of all time. In the following paragraph I am going to summarize what makes an athlete the greatest athlete of all time. For the sake of the argument to follow I am going to stick with just the NFL. When I look at the NFL one name comes to mind when thinking about the greatest NFL player of all time. His name is Tom Brady. Tom Brady is the greatest of all time.
Owens then had one of the greatest Olympic performances of all-time. He won gold medals in the 100 meter and the 200 meter sprints, the 4 x 100 meter relay and the long jump. When Owens won the events he competed
